    Horrible Rash

Thank you! Omigosh yes it's driving me nuts. There's literally no relief. I've tried cortisone, calamine, steroid cream, everything. I guess I will just suck it up lol. Virginia Beach is so close to me! I live in Newport News, attend college in Hampton.

    Horrible Rash

Yea, these photos were from last night, the rash has changed. It started bright red and splotchy when I first got it, it has now been about a month. It has gotten darker as time has gone on. hydrocortisone unfortunately doesn't work for me, nor Benadryl. Oh well, I guess I'll have to shell out more money and see a dermatologist lol. Thank you for your help!

    PREOP psych evaluation!

I had to do the same thing! My psychologist ended up being a patient of Dr. Clark's as well, and had had her sleeve in September. Really put me at ease. She only asked generalized questions, and asked to what extent I've researched the sleeve. She was feeling me out to be sure I understood the impact this surgery has on your life, and make sure your expectations are not unrealistic. I don't think there is any way to fail, to be honest. I was so nervous too, you're overreacting like I did, I felt so many butterflies in my stomach before the appointment, scared I'd say something wrong. Really just be honest and let them know this lifestyle change is a second chance for you. You'll be fine!

    Horrible Rash

I'm wondering cause I only had glue on my incisions, and it wasn't near them in the beginning. I have to attach photos when I get home, I would really like to know if yours looked similar. Mine is heavier on the left side too, clearer on the right.

    Horrible Rash

No, no eliminating anything from my diet - I am not eating anything new that I didn't eat pre-op, and I'm not eating anything I don't have permission to eat. My surgeon mentioned it may be a systemic reaction, something I ingested at the hospital. Maybe the thrush prevention mouth wash thing I had to take, who knows. I stopped the heavy duty painkillers about 4 days out.
  8. I was allowed at 4 weeks out.

this might be a bit awkward but....

Squizzo, ask your surgeon. Mine gave me the okay for Milk of Magnesia/Miralax.

You don't owe anyone an explanation hon.

    Horrible Rash

I'm so glad to know I'm not alone. It is close to my incisions now. When did your rash finally go away?

    Anthem BlueCross

I have Anthem BCBS Delaware, I got my surgery down where I live in Virginia, but I made sure to call them for authorized facilities before starting my process. I had to do 6 months of nutritional training before I was approved. I was approved in 1 day after my training and psych visit were submitted to them.

    Haven't told anyone...

ANewBeginning15, I haven't told anyone but a select few close friends, my boyfriend and my mother. I personally do not feel it is anybody's business what I do with my body - I may feel differently in the future, but for now it's just those I can count on. You're doing a wonderful thing for yourself, that's all that matters.

    Who was your surgeon?

Dr. Thomas Clark with the Center for Weightloss Success in Newport News, Virginia. Location was Sentara Careplex Hospital in Hampton, Virginia. November 2014 was my first consult, I lost 8 pounds in my 6 months of nutritional training, surgery April 27th, 2015. HIGHLY recommend, honestly caring and supportive staff at the hospital, and at Dr. Clark's Center, and the Center has a store with all the bariatric patient's needs, cheaper than GNC and without garbage with additives.

    Cold all the time

I'm only slightly colder than I used to be and I am 1 month, 5 days post-op. I started eating avocado during my pureed/soft food stage, as I got permission from my surgeon. I LOVE avocados. I use a food scale so I make sure I do 1.5oz of avocado, sprinkle some cumin, Frank's Red Hot, and some herb hummus is the rest of the .5 allowed ounces.

this might be a bit awkward but....

Ohhh girl take the Miralax. If it ever goes over 5 days, you have to do something. Introducing new foods can just be trial and error. If you're getting your protein in, things should go smoother.

    Protein in coffee

I have only tried Starbuck's protein coffee. I order it like, "venti iced coffee with a scoop of protein, milk, and sugarfree caramel syrup (or cinnamon dolce). REALLY good. Careful, if they're super busy they may not make it right and you feel so sick.

When did you start having sex again

It has been a month for us, simply because my recovery has been absymal at best. I also read somewhere that women are especially fertile after the sleeve? Does anyone know if this is true/have you heard the same? I keep forgetting to ask my surgeon during my post-op appointments lol
  20. The debilitating pain in my back. I have uneven hips, and issues with my spine, my weight exarcerbated the issue so badly that standing at the sink washing dishes after 5 minutes was extremely painful. I went on a cruise with my boyfriend July last year and we couldn't do the parasailing excursion because my weight put our combined weights over the limit. I also want to skydive, and I figured starting this new lifestyle in my 20s was the best thing I could do for myself.
  21. I'm finally allowed real food, so I eat protein first of course, but I will let myself have a small bit of a wrap or something. I also have been using a straw since about two weeks post-op. My surgeon has also given me the okay to drink water whilst I eat, as he says flushing my food through isn't a concern at this time because I can eat so very little. I never break the more than 2 oz rule for now though, because I do not have a trigger that tells me when I am full. I also was not given a ton of supplements to take daily - I adhere to the ones given, my pepcid twice a day, my vitamin ADK twice a day, and a multivitamin. I am off the pepcid and ADK after 3 months.
  22. Mine was under an hour, about 45 minutes.

    Itching all over body

I developed a red rash consisting of small dots clustered on my abdomen, in u shapes beneath my breasts, not near my scars, one week post-op. I got sleeved on April 27th, I still have this rash and it has developed into a monster of a welted, hideous red massive bumpy regions and it has migrated up to the sides of my breasts, around my incisions, and even under my biceps. It's awful. I've been on two cycles of the 6-day steroid dosages, a steroid cream, and I've been popping Benadryl like it's going out of style. The rash began just as an ugly thing, now it's extremely painful and exceedingly itchy. I have been referred to a dermotologist, we will see. It's extremely stressful and frustrating to have this on top of adjusting to eating close to nothing.
