Calories a day
bostongirlforever replied to christinamejia's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
8 months out and I eat about 1,000-1200 a day but I run a lot so most of it is protein to give me energy for my workout. On days I don't get a ton of exercise I scale it back to about 900 or so. For me switching it up helps. -
Are you COLDER after surgery?
bostongirlforever replied to bugsy72's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes! I live in Florida yet still cold all the time lol. Very typical of having lost lots of weight. I just always have a sweater in the car because you never know when you'll need it ☺ -
Feel sick all the time
bostongirlforever replied to cjd2010's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would call the doc as well. Just to rule some things out. But I agree with most that you'll be feeling better soon. Good luck! ☺ -
What do you drink?
bostongirlforever replied to kradtke5's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Water, coffee with fat free creamer, Quest protein shakes that's about it. Sometimes if I'm really missing something like Root beer I'll just have a sip of my kids and that's all I need. It's so sicky sweet I couldn't even drink a soda now. -
Coffee-- How Soon?
bostongirlforever replied to Karen B45's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I started drinking it like a month and a half after surgery. It's my addiction for sure. My doc was fine with it because I was healed and felt great and wasn't getting heartburn. I think it depends on the person and how you feel. Your body will let you know I think. When in doubt just call the NUT. -
Best thing I ever did was sleep in a recliner for a month. I couldn't sleep at all in my bed the pain was terrible. If you don't have one and don't know somebody you can borrow from, I'd go to a Rent a Center. I promise you'll sleep again. I hope you feel better soon!

3 months post-op. Just ate two slices of pizza.
bostongirlforever replied to gbveteran4d's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh this makes me sad Please don't let old habits sabotage the tool you've been given. I can eat like a champ if I wanted to at almost 5 months out but I dont. I can't go back to the unhealthy person I was. Get back to weighing portions, healthier options and it will start coming off. It's not too late and positivity is number one. I believe in you!! -
Help -Tylenol Doesn't Help Me!
bostongirlforever replied to LISALOVESVEGAS's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My primary doc gave me Tramadol. It helps a lot! Stay away from NSAIDS you'll get an ulcer -
Want RNY but surgeon may do Sleeve if I don't lose enough abdomen weight preop
bostongirlforever replied to numeby2017's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have a friend who just lost 100 pounds with the sleeve in 8 months time I believe. It's all about saftey. If the doc thinks it's safer I would go with it. Like everyone says, you still have to put in the effort with both. I got the bypass and I work hard for every pound I lose. Some people lose it easily without much effort, I am not one of those people. I am gym 5 days a week kind of person. If you work it, it will work Good luck! -
Protein Shakes
bostongirlforever replied to Brandon Long's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I love Quest protein shakes and bars. So yummy and you can bake with it too! My favorite is Peanut butter and they sell it GNC. -
2 days post op 6 lbs weight gain
bostongirlforever replied to mishi's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was up a ton of weight after surgery! It will be gone most likely in a week. -
Need advice please!
bostongirlforever replied to Marlymamamar's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yup,that was me! At two weeks out I hit a plateau and didn't lose for three weeks! So frustrating. Like you I started working out asap and I swear it slows the weight loss as far as seeing the numbers come down BUT I have seen where I'm building muscle and feeling great. Muscle weighs more than fat. And if you aren't use to walking that much I'm sure your body is holding onto everything it can. It will come off. It has to if your following docs instructions. With me it's speratic. One week I'll have a good weight lose the next not so good. Everybody is different we just need to have some patience I guess By the sounds of it you are doing great! -
Problems
bostongirlforever replied to Melissavlasblom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Melissa same here. I haven't had anything that doesn't agree with me. And knowing this I make myself stay away from trigger food. I said I'd beat my husband if he brings a cupcake in the house lol I could eat it and be just fine. That's what I'm affraid of so..I stay away. Maybe someday I can have a bite and walk away, not now -
Two Weeks Post GB. Doing TOO Well. Nothing Seems To Make Me Sick.
bostongirlforever replied to gbveteran4d's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I usually eat 3 meals,2 protein shakes, coffee in the morning and if I feel like a snack dill pickles really help! Crazy I know but it's the crunch and all my water ofcourse. -
Best desicion ever.
bostongirlforever replied to Cunninglinguist's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
So happy for you congratulations! I feel just like you. Best decision I've made for myself. My only regret is I hadn't done it sooner. Struggling to lose a pound, always in pain, high blood pressure,diabetes....gone! Keep up the good work. -
I'm struggling
bostongirlforever replied to shelleylester's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh that nasty taste! I hated that. I lived on sugar free tic tacs and sugar free gum. That nasty taste doesn't last too long. For me anyways. I went through a short period where I wanted some things I use to have I would take a bite of a cupcake for instance, get the taste and spit it out. It's terrible but it helped me get over the loss. And that too didn't last long. For me keeping busy is key. And,when I use to eat watching TV now instead of eating I do sit ups, jumping jacks, weights etc. Just some crazy things that help me. -

Only 0.7 in a week?
bostongirlforever replied to sparksrn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Omg! I totally went through that at the SAME time! 3 week stall I hope it doesn't last that long for you. But...I'm 9 weeks out and it's coming off crazy fast for the past two weeks. Totally normal. That's what my doc said when I called and told him about the no weight lose situation -
Emotional Wreck
bostongirlforever replied to sarabeth82's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Totally normal! Try to get out and walk a little bit if you can. A change of scenery I bet would help. Call friends. Think of how healthy and happy you'll be. This too shall pass. I hope you feel better soon! -
Food Serving Size
bostongirlforever replied to nuzzlebear40's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't think it's bad. I think as long as you stop when you feel full you should be OK I would think. I'm a big fan of "when in doubt" call the doc or the nut. I always do -
No poop
bostongirlforever replied to shelleylester's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Same boat here I take a stool softer but I'm lucky if I go once or twice a week. Ugh -
Food Serving Size
bostongirlforever replied to nuzzlebear40's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hmmm I'm at almost 8 weeks out I think i'm still just having 2 oz. Per meal. I think it depends on the person. Maybe some pouches are smaller than others? Not real sure but I'm affraid of stretching my little pouch so I don't want to eat more than 2 oz. Per meal. -
13 days out stomach pain
bostongirlforever replied to shelleylester's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi there, honestly if you still feel that way tomorrow please call the doc. I've heard from so many people who have gotten ulcers. 30 percent will get ulcers. Any kind of new pin is AL WAYS worth a call. Good luck and hope you feel better! -
Only 0.7 in a week?
bostongirlforever replied to sparksrn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi ejones8979! Yeah I'm from Beverly! I miss Boston so much :0 ( Um as far as the weight lose for me anyways it is much slower than it was right after surgery but most of what you lose is water weight and swelling I would think. But,still faster than I would have ever been able to do if I didn't get surgery. Right now about 1/2 pound a day. I'm sure I'll hit stalls but like the last one just suck it up and keep going. Thanks so much for the info about the coffee! I had started drinking 1 cup day again! Yikes. I did know about soda. No soda ever which is fine but no coffee? That's gonna be a killer -
Only 0.7 in a week?
bostongirlforever replied to sparksrn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ah yes the dreaded stall. I hit mine about the same time and it lasted 3 weeks!! It will start to come off again. This week I lost 4 pounds. My doctor told me I really had to get that 80 grams of protein (which I hadnt) I did this week and got through the stall Hang in there!
