LauraK..all my little plants are tucked in and already have happy little faces. They love the care I have given them so far. Even the ones that are not planted yet are happy. They are in their temporary home in the garage in that back of my truck. Thanks for sharing your wonderful personal traits. And, good traits they are!

Phyll...your gym membership reminds me of the computer with all the bells and whistles I am using and the 24 inch flat screen I am looking at. Called our favorite little computer guy about a year ago stating we wanted to upgrade. Farm is buying it (always love it when it's not my dollar) so I ordered it up, plus some extras. Well, to this day we have not paid for it. Little guy came out and spent a bit of time transferring info, setting up, etc. When leaving said he woud send a bill. After not getting an invoice the first month, called his office...said it would get sent. Second month, the same...this went on until March of this year. I gave up. I just ordered this thing up without asking for a price cuz I trusted him to install just what we needed...and, of course, the extras I requested. Handed the situations over to DH in March. He got his "Goin' To Town" jeans and boots on and went in for a visit and took the checkbook. "We'll get back to you on it". Huh???????

Phyll...I have done the "1 Finger Wave" a few times in my years on the road. Last time I did it DH was with me and I guess is was lecture time cuz I certainly got one. "Some day you are going to meet up with the wrong person. They will run you off the road and you'll never come home again". I explained to him that you have to have respect for others on the road and she deserved the respect I gave her. So did your little speed bump avoiding Chickie-Poo. Oh...and thanks for the kudos on junking up the thread and missing me...awww

Joyce...are you trying to tell us that your best trait is cleaning up after others??????????? If it is...more power to you! Phyll...being comapssionate AND a good listener are things I look for in a friend and what it takes to be a good nurse (as I am sure you are/were). As far as being a conversationalist...not necessary...just soak it all in and respond when you feel it's important. Another day of me junking up the thread....in between planting about 1/2 of my 175 plants. Think I will have to leave the rest for tomorrow. Our resident Master Gardener would be so proud of this amatuerish dirt digger.

Great...gotta remember you are dealing with a 101yr old woman. Heck, I'm 54 and out of sorts sometimes. I am sure she is sad you are leaving but try not to take her attitude as your problem. Maybe she was just not feeling up to an outing, maybe tired, etc. Julie...sorry to hear you have the stomach bug. Did you call your doc for meds or do you have some on hand? Jessica...poor girl...I feel for ya. There's all kinds of ways to get out and move and no inflict further trauma to your injury. Call your friend and see what she suggests for an alternative. Hugs

The six teeth that are going to be pulled do not have any decay. I have just lost bone structure on all of them. I am lucky that I do not have gum problems and everything is healthy regarding that. I have been dealing with hanging onto these bottom teeth since my early teens and have poured a lot of $$$ into them with reconstructive gum surgeries (2) and babying them for over 30 yrs. I could do it all again and maybe lose them in a few short yrs. Not worth it. I can deal with a bridge as long as it feels and looks natural. One of the reasons I chose this dentist. I have seen some of the amazing work he has done and I for once in my life want that smile. Doc gave me kudos on the care I have given to my mouth. Considering that every family member on my mother's side had dentures b/4 the age of 20, I consider myself lucky to have what I have to work with. Good to hear your mom's lungs are clear. I agree that it is best to check out why she is have night spells. Maybe it's just an imbalance of some sort?

Arlene...I've been on FB for awhile but just don't go there much. I have intended on befriending my LB friends on there but just have never gotten around to it. Please do send me a friend request and that will get me going with the others. Had 3 dental appts last week and quite long ones at that. It's going well and looking forward to having them all behind me. Told my doc I want to be aggressive and be on an on-call basis so he can get more procedures done and that will bring me closer to the end. I have had major dental work done in the past and am not fearful of what's to come. I guess the only appt that will be physically taxing will be the extraction of the six front bottom teeth. I have elected to not be put under for the extractions and DH is quite worried about it. I know that this maybe does not sound quite right but I have not told him when my appt. is (June 2). I have a friend that lives in the town where my doc is and she is going to care for me. I will just let him know when it's over. We are just going to do it with laughing gas. I know I can handle it just fine...DH loves me and worries a bit too much. I bet your dentist will want to cap your sharp teeth instead of grinding them down. And, actually, not sure you would want to grind them and make them more fragile. They have such amazing techniques in dentistry now. Only problem is...$$$$$ How's your mom? Any better? Hope this round of antibiotics clears it up for her. Take care

Laura...maybe your poor umph just needs some building up again and will come back with more visits to the gym. Congrats on getting yourself there. I agree with you...you are very compassionate, loyal and you do have a lot of get up and go. I also do think that one of your best traits is the mother that you are. We are sisters in the perfectionist dept. I find that as I have let go of certain things in life, I have seen that side of me diminish and "whew" for that. I looked back and am not playing fair...I forgot to disclose what I feel is my best trait. I believe it is the ability to withstand whatever comes my way and accept it and deal. I guess you could call me the "Farm Goddess" . Able to withstand the elements.
  13. So true...a positive attitude and determination are the key to success. Taking a look at what you can do to make the scale move in the right direction and making changes in eating habits, upping the exercise are proactive. Negative thinking produces negative results. Good going on taking the steps to get the lapband and moving onto a healthy life!

Great...Good morning. Enjoy your time with Grandma. You are going to miss her but time to hand over the wand to the sisters and momma. I am sure your GM apprciates the time you took for her and the special moments you have created since she moved to CO.

Jessica...you have done so much since the first time we met you here on this thread. I think I can speak for all of us mother hens when I tell you that we are all so proud of your accomplishments. To be able to list just the steps you have made in the last few short months in your above post is just amazing. You have soooooooooooooo come out of your shell and found your way. I love what your father posted on FB. I know some things got to you in the last month regarding your past. His message to you is something your should repeat to yourself first thing every morning.

    Hmmmm...Introduction Please!

Welcome Rhonda! Sounds like you are fitting right into Lapband life. Don't worry about your little ones missing thier fast food trips. Once in awhile isn't so bad for them but healthy options on a daily basis will set them up for making good choices in the future. While eating out, there are so many healthy choices that you can make. Big changes in your household with your DH getting banded also. Good for you for both making the steps towards a healthy life. Your children will benefit from having two healthy parents and will have good role models to enable them to form their own healthy lifestyle. I have never regretted my decision to have LB surgery. Good luck to both of you!

Janet...just gotta correct you on your Dallas airport "nightmare" comment...No...not nightmare...they are called flightmares! What a great idea to post some photos of the average LB meals on here for ppl that are fairly new and wondering. Think you should do that the next time you are not too hungry and too tired. I would need to post about 15 diff meals since I eat every hour or so. LOL. Too embarrassed to post what a "normal" day is for me. Already had 750 cals in by 7am. Still hang at the same weight no matter what I do. Have accepted every aspect of my new life though and no worries. I'm going to say this AGAIN just cuz I feel like I have to get it off my chest. Nothing you guys do to make me feel this way...believe me...all me. I don't allow myself to share what I eat and what a normal menu is for me because I am different than most. I actually feel "abnormal" and out of the loop sometimes. And, I don't share much cuz I in NO way want any new ppl or anyone lurking thinking the way I eat is the norm. Just had to get that out. I don't feel lucky or blessed because I, too, have to keep a running total of what I eat just to make sure I get enough in each day. Make sense to you guys why I feel this way? We haven't had a "Topic of the Day" since the last time Laura suggested one. Gonna think for a few to see if I can come up with something interesting (always a good way to get to delve into what you all are like). OK...here goes...Share what you feel is your best personality trait. Something you really love about yourself. Share anything...don't feel like you are being arrogant or braggy...just share and be proud of that trait that you admire.
  19. Take this time while waiting for insurance approval to really wrap your head around how Lapband surgery will change your life. I, too, was required to have the six month supervised plan. At first I was upset because I felt I was ready to jump in and have the surgery. In retrospect, I am so happy that BCBS had that requirement. It gave me time to "practice" eating like a banded person and provided me with adequate time to prepare. I woke up from surgery NOT feeling like I had the rug yanked out from under me. I felt truly prepared for what was to come. Those first few months can be tough b/4 you get your fills and feel that you are at your "sweet spot". Take this time to read everything you can on LapBandTalk. The wait is worth it. Wishing you luck!

Good Morning to All! Eva...sounds like you are having a wonderful trip...delays, lost luggage and all. Who would have thought that you would be delayed in Dallas again???? Didn't get enough of it the last time??? Hope to hear from you, but, if we don't, enjoy! Another busy day on the farm. Up at 4:15, lunches are packed, breakfast has been had and DH is in the field planting. Had a short, short night. Kidney stone hit about 6pm and passed the sucker about 3am. It wasn't as bad as some but still kept me awake some. Just happy I passed it cuz there could be no slowing down today. Going to plant all my flowerbeds today. One of our soldiers that just returned from Iraq opened up a greenhouse and flower shop with his wife. Went there yesterday because wanted to support them. We have a huge greenhouse business just 1.5 miles from us but it is very spendy and NEVER get a thank you at the cash register. Anyway, picked up a truck load of beautiful plants. I am so excited. I feel so flighty when I am home and trying to catch up with you girls. Didn't take notes when I was reading your posts so did not even hardly "talk" to each of you. So sorry. I guess it's just going to be hit and miss this week and maybe for a bit. Janet...we asked DS to at least wait till the next training session in Sept to make his decision. Not a small deal to comit to 2yrs and just want him to be sure. That's all I asked of him. If he wants to go, we need to support his decision. I'm not happy about the fact he might be over there but his life. He's young, single (yep...again) and cannot hold them back. Will check in later...getting a call to run to feild

Jessica...sounds to me like you have injured or pulled a muscle in that area. You don't want to further agitate it so you might want to call your doc or wait for a little bit to see what advice you get from our "resident medical experts". You are doing so great and are so motivated. It is so fun to read your posts that are so full of all the great things you have going and have done for yourself. Keep up the great work! Thanks for sharing your pics. Your little guy is so cute. He has his momma's smile. I loved that age...well...every age....well...maybe not 17-18 so much. LOL

Lori...my dear friend HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DEAR LORI HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU! Hope your day is a wonderful one and have a wonderful evening with DH. You are one busy lady lately and have lots on your plate. As far as the volunteering...I understand following through with a commitment but I would ask to cut it back some. They will just have to understand that you are booked right now. Good Morning to All....It took me forever to catch up with all the posts and there's not way to give you each the attention you deserve. Came home early this morning after a wonderful weekend. Did I say it was a wonderful weekend? Weather was perfect (70's) and this week is going to be the same. DH came and joined me at the lake on Thursday (that has never happened...lucky to get him there by 10pm on Fridays, but, at least he comes...for the first 5 yrs we had the place, he didn't make it up most weekends because of his workaholic ways). We did a lot of work around the place, campfires, nice long breakfasts together. He left early Sat morning to start soybean planting. Asked him a number of times if I could be of help but he wanted me to enjoy myself and the nice weather. DS helped him on Sat and Sun. We have a about 1,000 acres left to plant and need to spray about 2,000 acres. If the weather holds, he should have everything planted by Thurs or Friday. So, needless to say, it's crazy week around here. Have my laundry done and hung out in the sunshine, floors scrubbed, garage cleaned and swept out, bills paid, lunch made, toilets cleaned and now need to hit the shower so I can head out to find some plants for my flower beds and get them settled in their new home. Plyll sorry you lost your friend. Never easy. Great...congrats on finding a home in SLC. Will be thinking of you these next weeks as you move and get settled. Laura...prayers of your dad's speedy recovery. Thanks for sharing the photos. Janet....lovely flowers Jodi...sorry I was not quick enough to respond with a few recipes. Sorry for Dassi's disappointment. Keep trying. Determination WELCOME to all the new ppl. Peaches....I think you posted on the 50's thread for quite a while???? Gonna start the week out with a postive thought for everyone and hope you all take it to heart.... Bose was playing when I walked in the door this morning. Whitney Houston song...the phrase just stuck with me and I hope everyone can get to a point in their lives where they feel it..."The greatest love of all is inside of me". I truly feel you need to have a certain peace and love inside of yourself in order to get to that place where you are satisfied and wake up each morning happy. And, what's more important, you need to feel love for yourself in order to succeed that the things you do. This journey isn't so much about weight loss as it is about finding peace and giving ourselves credit. Not putting up road blocks and self-sabatage because we feel we do not deserve to be happy. Wheather we lose 50lbs and are happy there, or, really want to work towards another 50 more, it's about being happy and healthy and being proud of the women we are. So, that said, I wish for each of you that inner peace. Don't let all the busyness get in the way of taking care of yourselves. Later...sending the love

Deb...sounds like a GREAT trip. Isn't it nice when we can experience things through each other? Would never get DH to New York but I yearn to go. Think it will need to be a GF trip. You sure packed a lot into your days there. So nice that you could spend that time with DD. Allergies are high around here too. Our trees are still budding and lots of mold from snow cover this spring. Poor DS that works with us is ictching, puffy-faced and stuffy. This should all pass within the next couple of weeks as things settle. What brand of bra did you get. I found my perfect fitting brand a couple of years ago and know I will wear the same for life. Just does the job for me. And, an added benefit...I like the way it makes my boobs look.
