Great...good to see you are getting back on your plan. Nice, too, that you have your new tracker as a tool. You'll get those 10lbs off. You've had enough stress the last month or two??????? Get out and take a couple of walks a day in your new neighborhood. You'll get your exercise and maybe have a chance to meet some neighbors. Not going to suggest asking Ms. Nosy-Pants....you might want to take your time...test the waters in getting to know her. She sounds like a "busy" lady. But, a person never knows...maybe that first impression is not at all what she is like. I keep forgetting to take photos when I am at the lake place. Will try to do that this weekend. It's nothing spectacular but it's our little piece of heaven. We down-sized at the end of last year and are liking it a lot better. We moved to a different lot and put on a new park model. Not as much cleaning and upkeep every weekend. More time to enjoy the great outdoors. We still have some room for overnight friends...just not as much as b/4. If ever any of you girls want to do the MN lake thing, we have wonderful cabins at our resort for rent. Quaint, clean and very accomodating owners. I could put up a few of you in my place. Sure would be fun to host a get-together. And, I would provide the meals just for the fun of it. Something to think about. Thinking that you guys will have me till Thurs morning of this week b/4 I take off again. Will be staying until Tuesday mornings from here on out. Will be working Mondays in my friend's two salons. She has one that is 8 miles from the lake and another that is about 25 miles from there. Will be working where she needs me at the time. Her salons provide many services...massages, pedicure/manicures, facials, waxing, permanent make-up, eyelash extentions, etc. Janet...not sure about the Oct Vegas date and am bummed. Harvest time here. The worst time for me to travel as DH relys on me quite a bit that time of the year. (Gotta earn my keep somehow, ya know?) Will just have to see if it works and book later if I think I can make it. Darn...oops...I meant DAMN:ohmy:

Kurby...just wanted to welcome you. Was nice that you did a little bio for us. Nice to get to know you. Hope you stick around. Just keep in mind that if you do not get a surgery date that is in August, you will have time to study up on what life changes you will be going through with the band. In looking back, I really appreciated the 8 months from my first informational seminar until the time I had surgery. It gave me a good amount of time to prepare for what was to come. One of my biggest fears was waking up after surgery and feeling like I had the rug pulled out from under me. Knowledge is power when it comes to living with the band. Also...just to let you know (maybe you do already). There is a section on this site for Canadians. Not that we don't want you to stick around and hope you do. You might be able to chat with ppl from your area also. Wishing you luck!

Joyce...there are worse things to endure and I just keep focused on the end result. All worth it. And, after looking at the doc's b/4 and after of me, it's the smile I've always wished I could have. Actually, it's having to do it the hard way that has held me back. But, I have worked so hard to get the "new me" in other areas...this will complete things for me.

Just gotta say quick... Jessica...you look GREAT in that cute dress. Also, thanks for sharing photos of your cute little guy. Love the tattoo. Phyll....sorry to hear you needed an unfill. Hope you are doing better. Hang in there. Here's hoping you don't have a lot of hunger. If you do, hang tough. Also, happy you got some answers on your back. Now, if Julie could just do the same.

Wow..you guys have been busy junking up the thread this last weekend! WTG! Just got caught up and sitting here wondering how I can ever respond, so, just going to do the easy thing and use my memory...don't be offended if I miss someone. Never intentional. Got home about noon today and busy ever since. Been running between fields. DH is spraying and blew a hydraulic hose (of course nothing goes wrong until he is in the field 14 miles away). DS and his crew are tiling and have run a few errands for him this afternoon. Not a thing done in my house yet, but, who cares? My guys won't be home till near 10pm so I will have time to complete a few chores by then. I am doing quite well and healing nicely from my extractions. Long story short: a few hours in the chair...Doc stopped with first extraction and was trying to convince me to drive the 2 hours to oral surgeon. The extractions were very difficult but over with now. Doc tried to do a block but it did not take. He was sweating more than I was. Had to see him the next day (Thurs) and the first thing out of his mouth was "How'd you do that without?". Most of my dental work as been without...including gum surgery. Not a brag but I am tougher than most when it comes to physical pain. Always have been. I am sooooooooooo excited. Doc did some computer composites of b/4 and after. Doing every tooth in my mouth. I do have temps where he pulled the teeth and it actually looks quite nice and natural. The area is healing nicely but not without a lot of discomfort over the weekend. I did get by without so much as Tylenol though. Today was the first day I have tried to chew normal soft foods. Still a little soon and tomorrow will be better. The plan is (as I stated above) porcillen (sp?) caps on all of my teeth except for a porcillen bridge where he pulled teeth. I did opt to have my gums sculpted on the top in order to make new teeth longer. I was born without four teeth and this will allow for a more "normal" look as my teeth are quite small and short. One crappy procedure behind me and one more with the gum surgery. I have elected to not be put under for that also. It's one of those things...once it's done, you forget about the pain. I have had a couple of extreme reations to novacaine and not worth worrying about it. Also, would cost $4,700 more per procedure to have oral surgeon do the work. All this work will add up to quite a bit...could have been my new Mercedes. Just wanted to stop to say hi...DS just called and needs me to run a tractor to the field so will check in later. Love ya all!

Speaking of deer...DH and I were having BF about 6am this morning out on the deck at the lake. Dog kind of just kept looking towards the trees and all of a sudden this huge deer came out, stopped and had about a 5 minute stare down with the dog. Was so happy he stayed for that long. When he was done he went and checked out the beach and then followed the shore for a couple of miles. Such a nice way to start our day.

Janet...Julie and her DH were heading to Ohio to shingle DH's son's house. Think they are heading back tomorrow or Thurs. Yes, Eva, it's quite the life. I am only home about 1/2 day this week. I am leaving early morning for my dental appt and then heading back up to lake. My guys are tiling from daybreak until about 9:30-10pm and do not need me this week. Since I got home at 1pm I have gotten all the laundry done, garage cleaned, ran 15 miles to the field 2x, made lunches and suppers for my guys for the rest of the week, made supper for tonight, paid all the bills, cleaned 3 bathrooms, etc., etc....I know you were just giving me crap and I'm just fine with it. Hiring our son 4 yrs ago has allowed me "me" time and I am forever grateful. I am heading up early this week to rest after my extractions. I am thinking I will feel just fine but don't want to push my luck. Will talk to you all next Monday.

Phyll...thoughts and prayers going your way. Hope condition with DS is not serious.

Isn't it nice waking up in the morning after planting and seeing those little flower faces, Joyce? I just love it when I get all my beds and pots done and see them thriving. Mine are lovely this year with the exception on one bed. Wind and heat got to them last week but they are coming back. Busted my butt but got the garage spic and span. Now onto the laundry. Think there is still enough daylight, wind and warmth that the towels and jeans will dry outside. Back at it!

A great big "Hi" from MN... Was a very nice weekend. Lots of company but still was able to get some rest and also work on putting in some stone tiles to finish off our projects around our new deck. Also, DH and a buddy were able to complete some carpentry work. Did not get home until about 1pm today. DH was able to be with me the entire weekend and also did not come home until this morning. Now that all our projects are completed, he can finally put his feet up and relax. The wheels are turning in his head though with planning a "Breaking in the Deck" party. I begged him to just keep it simple. He wants to invite everyone in our resort....I, on the other hand, just want friends we associate with on a regular basis. (Not sure why the tables are turned on this one...I'm usually the one that does not hold back when entertaining for large crowds). I guess I can answer that on one level. Have so many that NEVER host a thing but show up for every little meal....they just make the rounds. When they see a grill smoking or a cooler of beer, they pull up a chair. Now, you all know I love to share but I'm not stupid. OK, that's my small b_tch for the day. Thanks for listening. Jessica...I agree with the others on the tattoo issue. Somewhere you will not be sorry years down the road. Hope your DH is feeling 100% soon and that his issues does not put a hold on your planned trip. Cheri...your photos are STUNNING! Beautiful. I am not sure if you have your hair up or is you got a cut. I vote you wear it like you have it in the photos. You look so wonderful and are a very attractive woman. Arlene...good luck at your weigh in and for staying on track over the long weekend. How wonderful...you've come so far. Wishing you luck with the scale again this week at your check-in. Janet....sounds like you had a busy weekend even though you were "relaxing" at home. I agree with Eva...Andrew should be getting that dog out and running it at least once a day. Gives you the exercise you like but I am not sure how you fit things in your life the way it is. I know Andrew is a great kid and respectful of his GM but maybe remind him it is his dog and running/walking will make for a healthy dog in the long run. I never watched the Sex/City series or saw the first movie so not sure if I will try to go see this one. I, too, love going to matinees early on a Sat or Sun. That's usually DH and my bi-weekly date in the winter months. You sound like my DH in seeing the beginning and the end of movies. He nods off about 20 minutes into it and wakes up when I nudge him to see the end. Great...happy to hear you are in your new home. I know it's tough saying goodbye to the kids. Been doing it for years and it never gets any easier. No sense in wearing makeup when DS drops us at the airport. This will be good for you and DH and for your kids. A little independence never hurt a 20 something kid. Wishing you the best in your new home (and on settling insurance issues with the old). Phyll...hope you are on the mend. How was the C.U. concert???? Happy to hear you are having tests today to see what is going on. Thinking of you and hope you fill us in on your results. Laura...I agree with the rest on the puppy. Nels is too young for total responsibility and we know first hand about being tied down. We are so lucky though to have a friend that owns a dog care service. He treats our Tanker like his own. All the other dogs get kenneled and ours sleeps in the house with the family. $8/night which I think is way too cheap to maintain the business they have. All the pets have posh kennels and A/C in summer and heat in winter. They also kennel overflow for human society. Since they have such cheap rates and they provide shelter for so many other animals, we make a donation for their cause each time we take our dog to them. When we went on our trip to FL this year the owners made Tanker a travel bag. It was a sewn denim bag with his name and his picture embroidered on it. It was filled with shampoos, treats, toys, and a personalized towel. Such a nice gesture. Laura...let me know what you are thinking for a cake. I have quite a few ideas and willing to share. Wish I was there to make it for you. Eva...take care of yourself and get some rest after all the hard work you have been doing. OK...caught up on the thread but don't have much time to "talk" to each and every one of you. Have 3 days of work to complete by 9am tomorrow morning. Have my extractions tomorrow morning. I am a bit miffed at DH. He was so concerned because they wanted to put me under and I chose to do this thing and "white-knuckle" it. Didn't tell him when my appt was until this weekend. Now, he is a very caring man and he loves me very much but he is not going with me and I am driving myself. I am sure I can do this and if I don't feel OK to drive, I can stay at my friend's house who lives just up the road from the clinic. (My drive is about an hour). I am pissed that once again work comes first. Always. OK...I feel better. Thanks for listening but I'm still pissed. Julie called me enroute to her destination. She was a short 10 miles from where I was at the lake. I was entertaining friends at the time and just setting out appetizers. Would have loved to hop in the truck and head her way for a little visit. She is going to call me tomorrow or Thurs on her way back. I will see where I am at at the time and how I am feeling. Better hit it. Cleaning out my garage and want to get it done b/4 dark. What a job. Dirt, dirt and more dirt. Sounds like you all had a nice weekend. Will check back later. Sending the love.

We live in MN...the West Central Prairie. Strickly grain crops...corn and soybeans...around 2,500 acres and operate a custom agricultural tiling business. Definately four seasons with winter being at least 6-7 months long. Spring weather is iffy with rain and snow. Fall is usually beautiful with colorful leaves. Summers are hot and humid. We spend a couple of months in FL during the winter months and about 5 months up North during the summer on the weekends. We live 5 miles from the closest town (pop.129) and 15 miles from next largest (pop.5,000). Closest WalMart is 70 miles away and any decent shopping is a couple of hours away. Not alot is offered as far as entertainment...again have to travel. We tend to make our own fun. Cookouts, farm shop parties, campfires. In fact, we tend to make up reasons just to put together a party. Such as: Pre-planting party, Post-planting party, Too Much Rain party, etc. Life is good.

Just relaxing sounds like fun, Janet. Yep, Laura and I will be right out and you after we get done you will feel like your home is right out of a Good Housekeeping magazine. After the mouse incident I came back in the house. After a bit I heard a loud noise. Darned dog knocked over the huge stainless Weber grill. Ashes EVERYWHERE on our new very porous colored concrete. Ashes, grease... Swept up as much as I could and got out the Dawn soap and big bristle shop broom and went to work. What a mess! I rue the day I first said to my dog "Get the mouse".

Laura...I have my very own container store....just have to open up my pantry and closets. My storeroom is full of containers and empty containers just waiting for some "stuff" to go in them. I am the "Container Queen". A place for everything and everything in it's place. I get all kinds of catalouges (sp?) with everything a person would need to stay organized. My favorites are the rolling clothes racks in the laundry room. Just fun stuff. Sick, huh?????
-
Aww...I didn't omit you, Laura...look back at my long post. OMG...just went out and opened my BBQ grill and a mouse jumped out and landed on my belt and fell down on my sandal. Freaked!
-
And Melissa...how could I not include you? Have a good one. Wishing for you the "turn around" you are looking for so you can see the end of your weightloss journey.
-
Ooops..Arlene..omitted you...you are unforgetable. Have a good one! I admire how well you are doing. And...Jessica...have fun with your family. Hope your injury is feeling better. Take care. Have something fun planned? Judy???? What's up for you this weekend. Have a good one. Can see you tooling around on your golfcart with the dog...

Mornin' All... Janet...I have been pulling for Crystal since the try-outs. But, I love the fact that Lee won. He is such a cute kid, humble and so happy. It's a given that the top two are going places anyway. I don't think Crystal will have to worry about not being noticed and having "things" in the works already. Was a great show last night with lots of stars. I thought of you as I was choking a crying when they were doing tribute to Simon and he was choking when on stage. I was thinking "I bet Janet is crying cuz she hates goodbyes". Anyway, sitting there crying when DH walked in...he thought something tragic had happened. Nope, just Simon leaving. I was almost sure he was going to announce that Paula was going to take his place. I could never get used to her when she was on the show. Too flighty or something. Hope your day goes smoothly and you can get everything ironed out with your ranch dealings. No fun to get thrown crappy surprises. Great...safe travels...watch the crossroads. Hope unpacking and settling in goes without troubles. Linda...have a blast on your camping trip. Travel safe. Phyll...hope you will get out and enjoy the beautiful scenery. DH and I really want to get out that way (DH's brother lives on an island outside of Seattle). I have been in the Seattle airport a couple of times and that is it for me. I think God concentrated really hard on the Northwest, making that area first. Got around to MN and got plain tired and ran out of ideas. Julie...safe travels, watch the crossroads and have a good time with family. (Hope they behave and treat you guys with respect). Joyce...family plans for the weekend? Whatever you do, have a great time. Cheri...do you have a break between the school year and summer school???? Have a great weekend. Get out and have some fun. Eva...you always have fun....don't have to give you instructions. Have a good one. Miss ya. Laura...enjoy the family time with Nels and DH. Any plans? Thanks for the dad update. Happy to hear you are heading his way for the test. I am sure he that will make him very happy. Good daughter. PJ...have a good one! You have a doable goal...keep up what you are doing! Jodi...congrats on the 5lbs! Not long b/4 we read a post from you about being close or at goal. Also, congrats on being pill free. Have fun on your date and have a wonderful weekend. OK...who did I miss? Whoever it is...love ya. Yep, you all guessed it...off to the lake today. Have some duties around here and will take off about noon. Grab my dog and go. Looking forward to the weekend and see some ppl that have not yet opened up their lake places. Plan on getting some reading done and a little time on the lake and some sum. Hoping DS, GF and her kids will find time to come up for some fun. Just plan on pulling into my spot and not moving my truck till Tuesday morning. Just want to wish everyone a safe, but fun Memorial Day weekend. Try to make a point of remembering those to which this weekend is dedicated. Sending the loves

PJ...I know you already got an answer to the Bells Palsy question. I had it twice. Once when I was in my early 30's and early 40's. Lasted about 2 weeks each time. Affected one side of my face (didn't move) and my speech. No lasting affects. Janet....now, that was one hell of a day! Sh_t happens...literally in your case. Have a good night's sleep and try to put it all out of your mind if you can. No reinsurance company???? That's crazy. Can they spell Errors and Omissions case??????? Great...sounds like your day wasn't much better. Hope tomorrow is better for both of you. Good night all....sleep tight.

Not sure about your vitamin for gum tissue question, Arlene. I have been fighting the receding gum issues lower front since I was about 16-17. Have had them surgically repaired twice and just don't want to go through trying to save them. My dentist said that surgery MIGHT prolong hanging onto them for up to 5 yrs but no guarantee. So...out they go. As long as he promised they will look natural, I had no problem with them gone. If I remember, I will ask him that question on Wed. Congrats on another lb. down. I bet you are feelings like the "Losing Queen" the last few months. You have the scale going in the right direction!:smile2:

On a thread I frequent, I posted a NSV ALERT!!! on Monday. We had 95.5 degrees and 79% humidity on Monday. I worked out in the sun for 3hrs or more in my gardens and did not even break a sweat. I used to have to work in 15 minute intervals and I would be soaking wet when I came into the house to cool off. So many good things come with losing weight.

Big Stone City???? Located on Big Stone Lake. If that is where he is from, it's not too far from the area I grew up. Yes, I guess it is a pretty area. We all go through our days not recognizing the beauty that is around us. So many small towns around here and everyone knows everyone. Would not be a surprise if I knew this guy.:smile2:
-
Joyce...yes, it will be worth it all. Looking forward to having the smile I have always wanted. And, thanks for the compliment.

How long have you been banded - Poll
Apples2 replied to HAL380's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Will be banded 2 yrs on 6/17. Have had 2 fills only and no problems what so ever. I feel my experience has been an ideal one. -
Janet....to answer your questions...DS has agreed that it would be a good thing to wait till Sept to make his decision on the job. His decision but we just pointed out that he might want to have time to think and not jump in on an impulse. Out of my hands and he will do what he feels he can handle. Have not had a dental appt for 2 weeks. Next Wed is the next. Had to wait the 2 weeks for temp bridge to be made. Have 5-6 lower front pulled on Wed and fitted with temp. Bone structure and gum tissue all good and healthy on all other teeth. This will be an all summer long project. This guy does some great work. Some extra $$$$ to get it done but worth it. He's even going to sculpt upper gums at some point to accomodate a larger teeth on the uppers. I just feel fortunate that he can work with what I have.
