Cheri ...Have not been tested for malabsorbtion....and I doubt that would be the case. All my blood tests come back great. I have no worries. I am just back to feeling and looking the way I was in my twenties and thirties...with the exception of my face looking 55. This was my norm. When I would want to take a couple of lbs off, I would back down to 2,000 cals a day and it would be off.

Joyce...oh dear...thought I mentioned it to you yesterday. I recieved my disc yesterday and was also so happy to open the envelope to find printed photos also. Thank you so much...so thoughtful. Also, forgot to mention....I am proud to say I put back on ALL of the 6lbs I lost over the summer. Yeah me! The elastic on my underpants are now doing their job again:lol:

Janet...I can just see you jumping in and taking the bull by the horns at work. There's always one bad apple no matter what the situation. I have always noticed in places I have worked that there are "team players" and those that sit on their hands because "they are not getting paid to do that". I say the day goes by so quickly when one is busy and productive. Hope next week goes smoother for you. Awww...how sweet that Andrew called GM....you might have him back yet. Makes my heart warm that you love him and would want him back. So nice. Julie....was a bridal shower I attended. Was a nice shower and then I headed into town for a estate auction. Stayed about 10 min. Nothing I was interested in. I buy straight back wooden chairs of all kind. Strip them down, prime, paint and then do some kind of painting on them and give them for housewarming gifts, bday gifts, etc. My hobby. I plan on doing much more of it this fall and winter. You stated that the black angus looked nothing like a white-tailed deer. Well, I can tell you I look nothing like a white-tailed deer either but I can run as fast as one when I'm scared enough. Laura...make sure when you talk to DH to tell him to fake it that he has the stuffed puppy along so Nels is not crushed. Stay busy...DH will never be sorry he took this trip to see his DM. Hope he can connect with her and find peace with this trip. Jewel...you looked so svelt and sexy in your new dress and shoes. Loved the shoes...great legs, girl! Phyll, I, too, loved your story about DH, the kids, you DD stepping in and taking care of your little family while DH was gone. One thing we never had when our kids were growing up...not much for grandparent's involvement. But, we filled our lives with ppl that were loving and caring and they had many "fake" aunties, uncles and grandparents. Joyce....20/20 had a peice on the FB movie last night. Interesting. Not sure if I want to see it or not. OK...going to put this out there just cuz I care for you guys. Let's all be careful about not posting too much personal info on the thread or anywhere on the net. Ppl can pick up on the littlest bit of info. Take it from someone who knows. I guess I have the most fascinating life in the world. LOL. Info from here....not much but just enough snow balled into some freaky, freaky calls and texts. I am pretty sure my life is ho-hum. But, I guess someone else's life is so boring that they felt the need to follow and know my every move. Just plain freaky and weird. Jeolousy maybe along with the fact that I must be just the MOST fascinating person....yeah, right. I have a hard enough time keeping up with my own life and just wouldn't have the time to focus on someone else's. Enough said. Just be careful. There's that song..."Private Eyes".......

Actually, Laura, we are sitting between bean and corn harvest. Got done with Beans almost two weeks ago and waiting for corn to get a little dryer in the field. Forecast is good all through October. Hoping to get into the corn by the end of next week. I love corn harvest. Lots of action in the yard. This nice weather will be a lot easier on DH's knees and ankles. He makes many trips a day up the steps to the top of the bins and when it's cold, it's a killer for him. He's a young 56 yr old but inherited a bit of arthritis. I can see the pain in his eyes when he's been working out in the cold. My 29 yr old DS also suffers with the cold. He has back and knee disability from his stint in Iraq. My fingers are crossed for this weather (even if it's 20 degrees colder than now) to hold. Enjoy your weekend.

Good Morning to all...busy day on the farm. We have been having the most beautiful weather ever. 80-85 with NO humidity. Nice. So different than a year ago when we were in our long johns during corn and bean harvest. Our farm is surrounded by lakes, ponds and wildlife refuges. Hunting season and shots going off b/4 daylight and well after dark. No rules followed. I keep my puppa in the house and I drive to the mailbox (a little less than a city block from the front door). Will have one city hunter after the other at the door until hunting season is over asking to hunt our land. Paranoia sets in and only go to the door if I'm pretty sure I know the person. A few years ago (at dusk) I walked across our paved road to a field to shut the cab light off in DH's tractor. I heard shots and "pings" on the pavement. Ran right out of my sandals and to the house. Didn't pick up my shoes till the next morning. Reason for paranoia. Julie.....looks like you had a restless night. Hoping these treatments start to work for you soon and give you some relief. I'm off to a bridal shower this morning, errands in town and stopping by to visit a friend who's father passed away. Was unable to attend the funeral in Virginia and she is home now after three weeks of sitting by his bedside. After that, home to see if I can catch up a little here. Hope you all have a great Saturday. Do something fun!

Went to Walmart today on my way back from dropping off motor. I had a coupon for the Campbell's V-8 soup. I picked up 1/2 dozen boxes to try them. (They come in a pourable box and on the shelf by the other Campbell soups). Only 2-3 grams of protein but would come in handy on a hungry day as a snack. I got the Butternut squash and the Garden broccoli. 90cals per serving (1cup) and 2 servings per container. There were other flavors that ranged 120-140 cals per cup. I picked up these cuz they are flavors I thought both DH and I would enjoy. There are lots of evenings when we eat supper early that I heat up soup at hand for myself and DH. Also, if any of you like black grapes, (sometimes called holiday grapes) they are in stock now and only last a short time. They are very low in calories and would make a nice snack. Make sure they are not the softer dark purple ones (those are loaded with sugar). My tips for the day! I get the gold star for today.

Sandy...tell your boss you will trade the reserved parking for an annual gym membership...it's worth a try
-
Jessica...congrats on your numerous NSV's. Love hearing the confidence in your posts! Photos please!!! Julie...it got up to 86 here today. I dressed too warm and was about to die by this afternoon. Came home and put shorts on. Still 84.

Chris....smart move to do both surgeries and use your short term disability. I have had a couple of friends that have had the shoulder surgery and they said the pain after surgery was a relief compared to the pain they endured prior to surgery. Just be very aware of what kind of pain meds your doc gives you. Be sure that your lapband doc and shoulder doc are on the same page. You do not want to upset your new pouch with pain meds. Just something to think about prior to surgery.

Sandy...good news about your Pup Pup (that's what you call your dogs, right?). If you are anything like me, they are your babies.

Laura...hugs. Try to get out and about when you are missing DH. Or invite friends over for dinner, Nels friends over to keep him busy. You are strong and can do this. Good Morning everyone. On the run today for the guys. Heading out in a bit to pick up tiling parts and back to the field. After that, don't quite know what is in store. DH mentioned me taking a motor to a shop for repair. Travel time involved with that trip also. Looks like I will be spending most of the day in the truck. Fine with that. Too much time home alone the last couple of days. Need to get out. Chris....you came to the right place if you are looking for ideas. We can be a bunch of Mother Hens but as I stated yesterday, it's good to have ppl to rely on that have been through the process. How much down time from work did you take. With doing the shoulder surgery also, I imagine a couple of weeks? You all have a good day. Later.

Cheri...take pride in knowing that you made a difference in this child's life and in the lives of the other children. I still am thankful for certain teachers. The ones that took the time to help me get something I could not wrap my head around. The highschool English teacher that allowed me to take the Junior and Senior plays and just run with them. I can hardly remember the name of the teachers that were flat-lined and didn't give a hoot what they taught. A lot of these students that you teach (from what you have said) don't have much of a chance in life. If you give them just a little bit of hope for change, you are doing more than you know. Hugs:crying:

Any ideas on how to make cottage cheese a dessert?
Apples2 replied to kab1278's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I throw cottage cheese in my blender with mango, berries or bananas. Add one serving of dry (1/4 box) SF Jello pudding. The cheesecake, banana cream pie or chocolate are great. Add some ice and little FF milk and you have a great treat. -
You know, Jodi...not only have you "gotten" this new healthy lifestyle for you, but you are teaching your DD at a young age. Keeping crap out of the house is half the battle. I would rather see my kids overeat on healthy food than a couple of portions of crap. Good going!

Julie...I boil up at least a dozen eggs a week and just peel and put them in a baggie. I have never been a fan of the yolk but love the whites. Whites: large egg, 17 cal, 4 protein, 0 cholesterol Yolks: large egg, 55 cal, 2.4 protein, 210mg cholesterol (70% daily requirement) I give the yolks to my dog. Keeps his coat shiny.

Hey Chris (txrckcrwlr)....how are you doing? Hope you check back in with us all. So important to have some support and to get ideas on things. Also, just good to talk with ppl that have gone b/4 you.

Well, I say enjoy the buttered treat. We all have to have our little indulgences. I would trade a snack just to enjoy it...so worth it if you enjoy it. I think youngest DS has a bit of jeolousy when it comes to older DS being employed on the farm and running the other ag business. He has no desire to farm...just thinks maybe more $$$ advantages for brother. Nope...he earns every penny. One day and he would quit or get fired. Not lazy...just no interest. I've often wished I would just get fired.

Have to add this, Great...you are living my dream. Maine/Vermont during the fall. OK...proposal for you. Let's take two weeks and switch lives. You be the drearly old farm wife and I will travel with your DH. Promise I won't touch him inappropriately or look at him naked.

Oh good...someone to blame for the butter and cheese glutony that us MN's picked up. Wisconsin's fault! When dipping that lobster, notice how fast that little cup of butter disappears. You think it is just a little coating but it saturates it. Throw a shaker of Molly McButter in your purse. I know....tacky when it comes to lobster. It might help you though.

Arlene...good girl on keeping on moving even though you are stiff. Veggie soup sounds yummy...but...where's the Protein?????? And, (just cuz I love ya) ditch the saltines. 5 crackers have no Fiber and 11 carbs. Not worth that little mouthful of salt. LOL
-
Neen....good plan with the tuna instead of grabbin sweets. Once you get rid of the sugar cravings, it might make it easier for you to stay on plan. Sugars are EVIL. Replacing them with a protein is a great idea. When you feel you have your cravings in check and you want something sweet, grab a more natural form of sugar..fruits. Stay here for suppport and also to share your experiences of how you lost so much weight so far.

Ninornia....Sounds like you will have a lot of experience to share with others on this site. Good going on recommitting to your plan. Hope you feel at home on LapBandTalk. Always nice to be able to visit back and forth with people that truly understand the experience. Having people who understand and care can be such a great support system. I know it has been the case for me.
