Have a good trip, Great. Exciting to see that baby. Just remember you always have us to vent to and fall back on. Don't let anyone get the best of you. You are a kind and wonderful person and don't forget that. No one can beat you down.
  2. Erica...click on my "Apples2" user name. A page will come up and click "contact info". Click on "send email". Looking forward to talking with you.
  3. I would be happy to be a pal and help you along the way. I have been banded for over 2 yrs and doing well. Just fire away with questions. If you would rather personal message me or email me, that would be fine too. Wishing you luck and feel free to contact me anytime.:wink2:

OK...corn combine is not going in the field yet so I have time for "Apple's Daily Tip" Everything you need to know about life, you could have learned from Noah's Ark... #1. Don't miss the boat #2. Remember that we are all in the same boat. #3. Plan ahead. It wasn't raining when Noah built the Ark. #4. Stay fit. When you're 600 years old, someone may ask you to do something really big. #5. Don't listen to critics; just get on with the job that needs to be done. #6. Build your future on high groud. #7. For safety's sake, travel in pairs. #8. Speed isn't always an advantage. The snails were on the same boat as the cheetahs. #9. When you're stressed, float for a while. #10. Remember, the Ark was built by amateurs; the Titanic by professionals. #11. No matter the storm, when you are with God, there's always a rainbow waiting. Now, isn't that nice???? And, doesn't that just about fit into every day of life????

Sounds to me like you might be too tight or just need to give your fill time to settle in. Try to do mushies or Protein drinks for a couple of days and if then you try hard proteins/veggies and you are throwing up, get ahold of your fill doc and make and appt for an unfill. It's NOT normal to be throwing up and can cause long term damage to your esophogas and band. As far as the slider foods go, if they are a temptation for you, get them out of your house...good luck

Good Morning....got down to 28 during the night. Cold but lots of sunshine. Another busy day on the farm. My day will be the same...back and forth from the bin site to the house. No need for a trainer...built in exercise. Only other plan for today are to do some books and to hit my LB group meeting...have not been there since (I think) April. Small group but look forward to catching up with everyone. Love our group leader. She is banded herself and one of my surgeons nurses. She "gets it". Eva...looking forward to hearing about your trip. You all have a good one....talk later.

Janet...I just split the acron squash, clean it out and place it on a baking sheet and bake in the oven. They are also good wrapped in foil and on the grill. The last one I made was over the weekend for DH and I. I browned some spicy turkey sausage (I always rinse) and put inside the squash with a little cooked brown rice and put about 3/4 cup low sodium chicken broth poured over the top of it. Gotta be careful that they are not tippy in the oven. Sorry to hear about your sis. Keep us updated, please
  9. Hey Katie...welcome...what date were you banded and what food stage are you in? It does take work to get off the weight. But, with the help of the band, it makes it doable. Follow your doctor's instructions as far as what foods to eat, get your fills when you feel the need and get into some kind of exercise program. LapBandTalk is a great place for support and information. Good luck!

The reason I asked is that I have the image in my head of you being miserable the morning you left Vegas. I realize it was a bagel that was giving you grief but didn't remember you talking about PBing much on the thread. I just got in from doing my last load of corn. DH is going to take over for me the next couple of hours. Cold to the bone...very windy here today which makes the cold seem so much worse. I had to run to town this morning to the John Deere place for parts. Well, I'm not a pink wearer but wanted a cap to keep the hair out of my eyes in this wind. The farm bought me a really cute pink John Deere cap. Soooooo, had dirt in my teeth and was covered in white corn dust but I was cute in my cap.

Woohoo!!!!!!! Eva's back. Glad you had a wonderful trip. You were missed. Arlene...sounds like a fill might do the trick for you. Do you get stuck on hard proteins very often?

Lori...try to be really, really strong during your visit. If the negativity takes over....just make a short comment like: "Don't go there" or "Don't ruin the moment..my visit is short", and then change the subject to something positive about yourself. You will need to prepare to have something on the tip of your tongue to change the subject. Hope you have a wonderful trip. I envy you "seeing" your first grandchild for the first time. I bet you miss your Grandmother after doing so much for her and spending so much time with her when you lived in Denver. Arlene....it's been a year since your last fill? Have you been struggling with hunger?

Forgot my tip of the day I was going to post this morning. (TX....you can skip this post unless you are into wearing leggings). Drives me crazy when the skinny jeans or footless leggings ride up in my boots when I bend my knees or sit down. I sewed corresponding color elastic (6-7") of wide elastic to make a stirrup. Works great.

Arlene...I think Joyce stated she heads to Mpls and then on from there. If it wasn't such a funky time of year, I'd drive the 4-5 hour trip to have lunch with her on her 4 hour layover.

Jodi...forgot to email you and tell you that box was coming....just spreading the joy, love, and hand-me-downs. LOL. As I stated in my not to you, (in the box) take to Salvation Army or whatever if these are not your style. As far as ear ailments go...DH's doc many, many years ago told him to lay on his side and pour one cap of peroxide in the affected ear and lay for 20 minutes. Works for him every time. Now, should not be putting out these remedies....what do you have to say about it Phyll and Laura??? Enjoy your days off, Jodi.

Joyce...there's parts of this life that does not make me happy. It's when we are not busy enough. My son took over my job 4 yrs ago and there are many times they do not have enough for me to do. I quit working in town 11 yrs ago because it was just too stressful to do what I did here, plus my more than full business in town. I sacrified for DH and not bitter about it. Just gets lonesome way out here and I can go for a week sometimes without seeing anyone but DH, DS and a few farmers that stop by. But, by giving up my job in town, I am able to have most of the summer to come and go as I please and we are able to spend some winter months in the south and , hopefully, sunshine. I guess it's a pretty even trade. I just like it when the guys have plenty for me to do. I think I need to get back into sewing again. I used to sew EVERYTHING. Heck, I could sew things for you girls.

Good Morning...another beautiful day...chilly this morning but sun is shining. I have put a lot of miles on the ole' Schwinn the last few days riding between the house and the bin site. A few more miles again today but I love my job. I shooed DH out of here today to go help with the tiling business...he thought he would fill in for ME....no way. We are thinking that harvest will be done about a week from today. Hoping that the weather holds. After that we can sit down and decide for sure how much time we will spend down south this winter, get our tax stuff all done and relax. Janet...acorn squash is dryer than butternut. It's what I grew up with and I like a dryer squash sometimes. I usually use the butternut when I make my squash soup. And, yes, if I decide surgery is even worth is with the apron thing, I will do it for me...nobody else. I will wait till I talk to my surgeon next week to see what he says. I certainly don't want to pay out of pocket if I don't have to so will just see how it goes. That visit to my doc really got me thinking yesterday though. Phyll....hugs and prayers sent your way for you and DH. Hope everything goes well and that he is the "perfect" patient....Oh wait...he's a man....sorry TX. Anyway, will be anxious to hear how everything went and hoping he does not have too much discomfort after surgery. Sending the love. Julie...I'm sure you are booked with wedding stuff. Take care, have fun, hope you get it all done and then you can relax and have fun at the wedding. Laura...not too long now b/4 DH is home. I am sure he will need a little catch-up on the sleep. OK....just pooped in to say good morning and better run. My first truck is pulling in the yard. I am able to get to the house every hour or so and will check in with you all later. Have a wonderful day!

Janet...I am on a butternut and acorn squash kick this year. Have always loved it but I just crave it lately. I was embarrassed to even bring up the apron issue on this thread. One of the reasons is that I have said in the past that I would NEVER feel the need to have it done. I have no problem with the way I look and have never worried about what DH thinks of it. I don't wear any garments to hold it, etc. and know that with clothes on, no one would ever guess it is there. I feel too confined even in panty hose. I guess the only way I can explain it is that it is getting in the way of life and very irritating. The reason I was embarrassed to mention it is that I am thin some and ppl might think I just plain don't need it. I have been discussing this with DH for a bit and he knows I feel that this would somehow complete the journey...get rid of the irritation and be done with it. My doc took one look at the change and how the apron hangs more so now than the last time I saw him. He's 100% in getting me to consider and tryed to convince me that it is not a egotistical thing. More quality of life than anything else. Cheri...hope your conference is interesting...have a good trip.

Janet...would not be a TT...just getting rid of the apron. I have had two major hernia surgeries in the lower abdomen and there would not be a chance to go in there to tighten muscles. I have a wad of mesh from the first botched surgery and last surgeon could not get it our of there. Attached to everything. He just put a strong mesh and closed me up. My stomach is flat in clothes and would not do it for the looks...it is becoming annoying.

Healthy as a horse. Had my physical, silly pap smear and a good talk with my doc. Had not seen him since my last physical. He wants to tap my metabolism to be transplanted to those who need it. I talked to him about my lower apron. I have had some troubles with rashes, etc. during the summer and when I am active...riding bike, working (like this week which is non-stop). When I roll over during the night the extra skin on each side of the hip bone folds under and I have to pull it back. He strongly suggested a panniculectomy. The first 18 months after weightloss, I never thought much about it cuz I could just tuck it in my jeans and it looked OK. But it seems like the farther out I get, the more it is hanging and more irritating. I have some thinking to do. Took two hours off to do my appt. DH filled in for me. I'm back on the job and better go. Later.
