TGIF.... Cheri...enjoy your morning off. Have you ever tried charcoal capsules for your gas issues? I started using them once in awhile this summer. I love fruit and grapes would blow me up like a nickle balloon. Made me look pregnant. The capsules are taken 2-3 times a day and really to calm down the gas and make the distended tummy go down. Might be worth a try. Sandy...have fun doing your 5-K. Admire you for doing it. Didn't even notice that you had braces. The GF I met yesterday for her bday luncheon just got braces yesterday morning at the age of 35. She got the clear and I could hardly tell they were on. I bet she has a tender mouth this morning. Janet...nice to know you will be around this weekend. Yes, I slept some. This mouth will tame down and it's just something I have to go through to get to the end result. No big deal really. Just had to do my share of complaining about it. I figure by Monday I will be eating like normal. Watched DH scrape frost off his work truck windows this morning. I just hope both DS and DH can get the jobs done that they want to b/4 ground freezes. DH is spreading fert and DS in tiling like made. One of his employees didn't show yesterday and does not answer his phone so think he is short one. I'll be putting another ad in the paper and radio this morning looking for help. Nothing new here. My day will be spent in the basement cleaning and organizing. I put a lot of youngest DS's boxes down there and need to get them moved so I can start on my painting projects. (I paint wooden plates for friends for gifts). Anxious to get going on them. It's such a de-stresser. Gotta get my sewing machine out one of these days also. Today will be a good day for making chili and figure something I should be able to eat (I think). If not, I promise I won't come on and whine. LOL. You all have a great day.

Eva...yes, the mouth heals in an amazingly short time. It is all worth it. I think my foul mood is cuz I cannot eat. I'm used to eating every hour. But I'm doing mushies and it's going good. Just not as satisfying as real food. Yeah....where is our Linda????? Hope we don't have to start worrying. Hope DSD is doing OK. That's the first thing I think of when she is missing for a bit. LauraK...hope you are having a wonderful time on your date. Your new avatar photo is cute. You are just a cutie-petutie. OK...all the fluffing you girls are talking about. Didn't that get better with time with you after having the LB surgery? I know I was miserable for about six months but then my system adjusted. I think your body has to get used to the amount of fiber and probiotics. If a person is vigilant about getting some of each every day, things even out. Right? At least that's how it is for me. Every time a put a Fiber One bar in DH and DS's lunch boxes, they think I am trying to blow them up or something. I believe if they had one each day, their system would be fine. Just my take on it.

Cheri...Is the Kerfir a Greek Yogurt???? Never heard of it. I puree fresh or frozen fruit that adds a lot of flavor to plain yogurt. When I'm lazy, I add some SF pudding mix.

Welcome Mebutbetter....I think we could all say that we have lost tons of weight over the years but just could not keep that weight off. I know that I would lose and feel so good and then gain it all back and then some. I bet you are excited for this life change. I remember the feeling. I have been at goal for 2 yrs and still can say that this is the best thing I have ever done for myself. Let us know if you have any questions or concerns. Anything at all, we will try to help. Wishing you luck!

Great...met with same son twice...our time was limited during lunch so drove out to where he is living to visit a bit b/4 I came home. He has not moved yet and job on west coast was not to be. Hopefully, he'll make a decision soon on which direction he will go.

Good Morning All....no rest for the wicked (isn't that how that old saying goes?). I know at some point I will be happy that yesterday was the last of the grinding down of teeth and whittling away of the gums, but I'm still trying to phathom how this could keep me up all night. I'm a pretty good sleeper so not used to this. Usually with my appts, 3 Tylenol would take care of it...sometimes required nothing. Oh well, will deal with it. Hopefully it will calm down today. All worth it in the end. OK...now that I got my major whine of the day over with.....(thanks for listening)... Great...in between appts. yesterday I tried your retail therapy....it doesn't solve much but I have a really cute pair of brown Born boots in my closet. The dept store had a deal where if you donated a slightly used pair of boots to Caring Soles , a person got $15 towards a new pair. Yesterday here in MN was actually pretty nice for a fall day. A little windy but the sun was shining and warm (52 was our high). Today's high 44 with wind, nice over the weekend (50's) and then they are predicting crap. So, just will enjoy the rest of this week. DH and I are going to drive up to the lake one last time on Sunday and hang for a bit with the dog. And then, I guess, it will be time to hunker down and get used to layering up the clothes. My daily outfit in the winter is usually my Body Armour (long underwear), a sweater, a quilted or wool vest and a quilted jacket over it all. B/4 weightloss it was a short sleeved T-shirt. Funny how that works. Arlene...photos please when you complete your Christmas table. Have a little going on today. Have a bday luncheon with and for a couple of friends today. (Lake friends). Then need to stop at the little dept store for some paint for items that I am painting and then home to work on them. Going to have to make up some caloires today...protein drinks and cappicinos. Think I only got about 600 cals yesterday. Not a good thing. Well, my oatmeal is done and waiting for me. Hope you all have a good day. HeidiB....I know I have talked with you b/4. Sounds like you are a bit frustrated about the scale not moving. Stay around and visit for awhile. There's all kinds of advice here and support. Welcome.

Hi all....today was Hell Day. 3:45 hour dental appt, lunch with son (no eating for me) another 1 1/2 hour appt after that, another visit with son and home at 6pm. Left here at 7am. My mouth is hamburger and the entire inside of my mouth is broke out in a bumpy rash. If it does not clear, I will be making the trip over again in the morning. Last of the grinding but they saved the worst for last and it was (I will say it again) HELL.

OK, Laura...I will try to do the recap for you. Sorry we were lax when you asked for it a couple of days ago. I just have to think of how far to go back. Melissa....have not heard from here for a couple of weeks about how things are going...hope good. Joyce is on her way to Guam to visit her family and GK's. She had a very stressful couple of weeks prior to leaving and hoping that she can take this time to blow off everything at home and just relax and have fun. She shared photos of the resort she will be staying at. If she cannot relax in that place, she just plain does not know how to relax. LOL Great...our happy wanderer....has been to the east coast to see the turning leaves with her DD, MIL, FIL and DH. Then to Hawaii, CO and to FL to visit her folks. And happy to inform you that her trip went great with folks. She then went somewhere else in the world...can't remember. This last weekend spent with DS at her home and Christmas shopping. She's now sitting in her chair with her lab's head in her lap (she's sobbing). Janet...found out her sis was in the hospital last week and hopped a plane to go visit her over the weekend. Nice visit and hard to leave her....as she stated "You never know". Tough stuff. Arlene is our trooper. FM and other pain from the wether change but still going to exercise, etc. She's struggling with hunger and thinks she needs a fill and is going for one this week. If you have time, check her GK photos..cute. Julie...busy with wedding since getting home from Vegas. She posted photos on the thread today. Worth a look. Impressive and kids are so darned cute. Jodi....I can even begin to give you a recap on our Jodi. Throw a couple of Jewish holidays in there that I cannot even pronounce and I'm lost...(joshing, Jodi)...love ya and you explaining your customs...honest. Anyway...Jodi has been struggling this last week with too much fill and is going for a small unfill. She interviewed for a new job and (I think) decided to stay in the one she has. Our Phyll has been sick with the crud for just about a week now. I think Facebook post said she kicked it. She also had MRI and had an appt with her specialist. Her DH sailed through his surgery and she got to practice nursing for a couple of days again. Eva....gotta go back and see her photos of her vacation. She picked up a new job (working from home) the same week she got back. Brutal, Eva....but I am thinking this job is going to be her thing. LauraK...she has the crud...damn the crud. Jessica...our pride and joy...getting good grades, invited to join the Honor Society, raising funds for her son's school. What a girl! Cheri....teaching, redoing her scheduling and work so that it is less stress. But, getting new students so hoping she can protect her new schedule. But knowing Cheri, she will not turn a student away. Cheri got back down to her comfort zone after gaining a couple of lbs. She struggles with tightness when she gains but think she now has a handle on what is going to work for her. TX...flew through LB and shoulder surgery. Had a bout with mega-pain but think he is doing better. Judy...had a bday over the weekend but we have not heard from her for awhile. Busy with play. I know I am forgetting some...will pop back on if I remember

Great....sorry about your crying jag....it's tough, isn't it? Every time I left my youngest at the airport, I was unsure of how many months it would be till I saw him again. I had that sore neck thing on Friday and Sunday. It's so weird cuz you think it's the crud and then you don't feel real horrible but then the little fever pops up. Take care and get some rest. Would love to see some of your Loft clothes.

Boo hoo...put my flower beds to bed for the winter. I love my flowers and they just could not hang on any longer. I cried....so there! Got my pumpkin/cranberry bundt cake made for the dental office crew. I love to bake so I just think of any ole' reason for it. I actually made two of them. They turnd out really nice and moist. Cream cheese frosting....nope, not weightloss friendy. But, I made a lite salad/dessert thingy yesterday and my guys ate the entire bowl. Easy and might be something to bring or serve for Thanksgiving if you are looking for something lite. I took and entire pomegranate (about the size of a grapefruite) seeds and added them to: 1 8oz carton of FF Cool Whip 2 cups of strawberry FF yogurt Blend the above two ingredients well and fold in the seeds. It is soooooooooooo good. I have another recipe for the holidays.... Blend together: 2 cups plain yogurt (can use Greek) 1 package SF strawberry or raspberry Jello (dry) 1 package SF/FF Jello cheesecake pudding (dry) 1 8oz FF Cool Whip 1 bag frozen Blackberries (make sure they are frozen). Do not mix once the blackberries are blended in. Let sit overnight. The blackberries kind of bleed and make a pretty salad/dessert. Julie...cannot decide if I have the crud or just sinus infection from the grain dust. Better today though and no fever this afternoon.
  23. Thanks for the kind words. I have been at goal since Oct 15, 2008. Maintenance has been a breeze for me. But, I worked REALLY hard at the weightloss stage and it was well worth it. Good luck to you!

    Hi, I'm new-ish

Yes, there are many different pre-op, post-op procedures required by docs. The only bit of advice I can give is to follow what your own doc requires of you and to learn as much as you can prior to surgery. Be prepared. Read everything you can on Lapbandtalk and also ask your doc for info. I was required to do a 6 mo medically supervised diet by the insurance company. I was so disappointed at first but it was the best thing for me. I prepared myself by eating as close to a banded person as I could during that time. It helped...I lost 52lbs prior to surgery and it made the post-op period a lot easier for me. Good Luck...you sound sooooooo excited.
