    I'm here to help...

Good Morning All...had a wonderful night sleep. Books this morning and then off to coffee with a friend. Gotta stop to pick up some steel cut oats and some other diabetic friendly treats for my cute little FIL. Will make the oats up and freeze so he has them at hand for his breakfasts. He is heading to AZ in his motorhome on the 29th and want him to have a supply of healthy foods. Since MIL passed away a few months ago, he's kind of been like a kid in the candy store. He thinks he needs to eat at every restaurant in the 50 mile area and it makes it tough for him to keep track of what he is eating. He has lost 10lbs (he's very little...5'tall (or short) and maybe weighs 125lbs...but, still, he needs to watch is sugars. 87 yrs old and ready to hit the road. One of DH's sisters it taking the trip with him and flying back. He was insisting on do the drive himself. OK...WARNING...prepping for colonoscopy today. I am going to TRY to not whine as much as DH did when he prepped for his last one but I swear this makes me crabbier than anything. I detest having my food taken away from me for an entire 24 hour period. I am already in a pissy mood. And, anyone that knows me knows it takes a lot to make me pissy. Thank you all for listening to the above whine. I will deal with it from here on out. &^*(^$@$%^%&((&&%$#@

Julie....more or less the same advice that was in the above post to Melissa. You need to be in tuned to what is going on with your band and not let it go. Let your LB doc know EVERYTHING...what you are eating, how your stomach has been feeling. If you are having issues with nausea, not being able to eat, you could have a number of things going on and should not ignore these symptoms. Hugs:wub:

Melissa...get yourself to your LB doc A.S.A.P. Reflux, eating sliders, PBing is just going to add to your stress. A person also needs to be sleeping and your problem is not allowing you to. They will just have to understand at your work. Let them know this NEEDS to be taken care of TODAY. Please, after you get an unfill go back to your LB basics. Fill your LB doc in on how you have been eating. Maybe he can suggest a support group or nutritionist that you can work with. You need someone to guide you along with all of this. Take care and let us know how today went. Hugs.

Hey...hope everyone had a nice Sunday... I'm shot...doesn't happen very often but waaaaaaaay too much put into one day. Long story short: 1. 3 hour breakfast...if I could keep my A$$ in bed beyond 5:30 on a Sunday morning, we wouldn't have such long ones. 2. Went to church...been missing it. Has been 15 yrs since I went to a church service other than weddings, vow renewals and funeral. 3. Met DH for lunch. Couldn't get him to go to church with me but he was very happy to have lunch after. 4. Flagged for youngest DS as he flew his boss in from LV. Helped him refuel the plane, drove the 4-wheeler as it pushed the plane into the hanger. Fun. 5. Took him out to dinner and dropped him back at the airport for a flight to Atlanta. Taking a doc out there for a conference. 6. Home and had a beer with DH....him 3 beers. Me a capaccino with three scoops of Benefiber. I think I'm tipsty. 7. Shower and heading to bed. Sleep tight. Love to all
  5. It's been done for years...along with lips and eyebrows. Well worth the $$$.
  6. Jacqui...not to hijack the thread but the keratin hair straightening is soooooo worth the money. I have fought my mass of curly/frizzy/unruly hair for my entire life. Had it done in late July and it is still wonderful to do my hair each day. If I had to make the choice between boobs and the keratin treatment, the hair would win out!
  7. Are you talking stomach bloating our all over bloating? If you are experiencing stomach bloating it is most likely from the surgery. Get up and move...walk as much as you can. If you are experiencing all over bloating it could be due to not being hydrated. Are you getting the amount of liquids you need?

Great..heard on the local radio station about an hour ago that our university (located 15 miles from here ) cancelled their football game today that was to be played down by Mpls. 11.5 inches of snow this morning there. We are getting a very light snow right now and the last report said to expect 4-5 inches. As far as your question on DS...we can usually talk things out and I'm his "go to" person in the family. A few little bumps in the road when I call him on going over the boundries on certain things but all in all, our relationship is a good one now.
  9. I did answer your poll... 3 or more years, with work steadily lost weight and am stable. I have been banded for almost 2.5 yrs but have been eating like a banded person since 8 months b/4 surgery. My take on band life....if a person works the band, is diligent on sticking to his/her surgeons guidelines the first year, there will be some effort but the weight will come off. And, it will also set you up for a lifetime of learned healthy eating habits.

Arlene...I am like you...don't have a problem driving through anything as long as I know where I am going. Edna (our GPS) is my friend. DH gets so worked up when going through big cities so I do most of the driving...even if I'm hauling equipment of a trailer. I am having flashbacks of driving 80 thru Chicgo with our first ever tiling machine on a trailer. DH had his hands covering his eyes, feet braced on dash of truck and I think he was talking to God.
  11. I did rewards along the way...usually each 50lbs lost. I had permanent eyeliner tatooed at one point, eyelash extensions and in the end a wardrobe to die for...skinny jeans, leggings, boots and all!

Also, Micheale...there are ways to stay within your daily food intake limits and have the foods you crave. You stated that you are eating mostly meat and chocolates. It's a very good habit to have a meal and get your protien in and then veggies/fruit if your pouch allows. If during the day you require a snack and it is withing the caloric intake amount, have a half of a Atkins Protein bar. The chocolate Peanut Butter ones have 1gr sugar and 18 gr protein and are 240 cals. A couple of bites could be just the thing you need to satisfy those cravings. But, if you are totally off the wall with eating carbs, a good plan is to really watch the amount of carbs you are getting. A good example (what my doc requires during the weightloss stage) is less than 40gr per day. Cleansing your body of the carbs will take care of all those cravings. Tough while you are doing it but once you do, you will start to crave healthier foods.

Michaele...Yes, being accountable every day is the best way ever to stay on track. And, if you are limited (sorry about your MD) on physically activity, it's important to keep close track as to what goes in your mouth. As far as an unfill goes...most likely not necessary to get a complete unfill. When you go for your appt., talk to your LB doc about what has been going on with your eating routine and symptoms after and take his recommendation. Maybe a slight unfill (.5 cc) will take care of the problem. Go back to the basics, baby your band for a few days doing shakes and mushies to see if it can take care of the irritation you have going on. Once you irritate things in there, it will continue if you continue to over fill and eat b/4 bedtime. If you are having food sitting in your esophogus and having it come up, that could be due strictly to eating too close to bedtime. Our fearless leader (Janet) has a plan that she posts or sends to ppl that ask for help. Janet?????????

    I Hate You All!

I also agree and wish that everyone that is in need of WLS could be covered by their health insurance policy. The fact that this procedure is not covered might have nothing to do at all with your insurance company. The company you work for might have elected to choose a plan that excludes WLS in order to have reduced premiums. Best of luck to you.

Michaele...forgot to comment on your foster to adopt program. That is sooooo exciting and something so positive to look forward to. We had a young man working for us during harvest this fall that chose the program. He needed to take a few days off because THEY DID THE ADOPTION. I've never seen such a smiley face every time he talked about his son. They took the baby in as a foster right after his birth and they were able to do the adoption at 18 months. I hope this is something that you and your DH will be able to do and that it happens for you soon. Hugs Oh...and if you want to practice some parenting skills....I have a moody 27 yr old you can practice on!

Michaele...welcome to the thread and to our nice little group of supportive ppl we have here. First of all...thank that guy of yours for serving our country. And, so sorry for your infertility issues and all you and your DH have been through. Sounds like you are emotionally spent and need some things to take your focus of all of this a bit. To me, it sounds like you might have too much fill in your band. A banded person should not be living with reflux. It's dangerous and causes us to eat slider foods which in turn causes us to gain weight. I am unsure of what your eating routine is so I am just guessing. Tell us a little about what you eat, daily calories, if you keep a food journal, do you go to support group, etc. Again, welcome.

Eva...yum...mushroom soup. Thanks for the "early" offer but this time of the year we spend a couple of months fine tuning all our pre-pays and financial stuff for farm and business. It will carry us right up until we leave in Jan. And as far as DS goes. He's always working and has ambition so that's a good thing. We just want him to continue on with the what makes him happy, live where ever he wants, even if it's half way across the country....he's my "Happy Wanderer" and always will be. The economy and other things cause a little bump in the road for him and he took it hard but he was only without work for a little over two weeks. Biggest problem now is to get him and his dad to quit butting heads. Agree to disagree. One is as bullheaded as the other and I'm not going to be the mediator anymore. For them to work on. I will just be the sneaky behind the scenes person the slowly gets them to work on some issues. Kelly...forgot to comment on your puppa pictures. Soooooo cute and that laying on the back pose was the best. Thanks for sharing. Those babies become just what a person needs sometimes. (All the time for me)
  18. It sounds as if your DH is having a tough time adjusting to the new you. See if he is willing to go with you to see a therapist. If you and him are constantly fighting about these issues and getting nowhere with it, best to seek some help. I wish you all the best as you deal with this...Hugs

Good Morning... Going to be hanging in the house today. My guys went off to work in the wind and the cold. We are expecting snow and high winds later today. Looks like it might put a stop to the tiling for now and maybe for the rest of the season. Does not make my men very happy but now fun working and being cold to the bone. DH said this morning that we should have just booked a full 6 months in AZ instead of being pent up in the house looking out the window as it all blows by. The older we get, the less we care for the snow. My whine for the day. I am working on some crafty/painting projects that I would like to get done this weekend. Relaxing and fun. Only problem I have with it is that my puppa likes to be right by momma while working on it and I have to be extra vigilant about looking for dog hair in my paint. But, he's so willing to help...can't turn him away. Phyll...sounds like you are as "booked" with your pup as I am. What would we do without them? Good news...youngest DS is working in his feild once again. He had a great summer working and living at the golf course and was on the fence as to where to look for a job. Well, he applied for the masters program at the university he attended in FL (Embry-Riddle) and will be working on the program online and working in a town 15 miles from here. Will be nice to have him around for awhile as he has lived across the country in one place or another for the last 10 yrs. He is in LV this week where he flew his new boss out for a conference (he is doing tech work for this guy). He will also be flying for a local doctor and a manufacturing company and flight instructing on the weekend when weather allows. Whew...he found something anyway. I was so concerned that the longer he waited to find a job in his field, the less likely it would be he would find one. This all settles my nerves a bit. Another deer hunting weekend. The shots have been booming in the air since daylight. Happy when the season is over. Makes me uneasy. In a 40 mile radius just in the last two weeks we have had 1 teenage accidentally shot by his father and still in critical condition, a 62 yr old business man accidentally shot and killed himself and another teen's gun discharged and critically injured himself. Arlene...keep working at the little or no carbs at this time and work towards getting that fill if that's what you feel you need. We didn't get the band to be hungry all the time and being hungry brings impulsive choices. We're here for you. Hugs. Making beef stew to put in the crockpot for dinner. Once of my favorite meals and good on for a cold day. You all have a great day. Later.

Jessica...you had mentioned that the therapist that you clicked with and has now moved on is someon that you wish you could talk with again. Why not give her office a call and see if she does phone appts. When I was in therapy my doc would do phone conferences when I was unable to travel the 2.5 hours during the winter months. It was only a few times but I so appreciated her doing the phone appt. Worth a try. Also, uncalled for to bring up ANY issues in front of your son. Very unprofessional behavior by your doc. Had to do a double take with your avatar photo. Cute hair color! It brings out your eyes. Phyll....happy you got your diagnosis and that you now know what has been causing your troubles and how you are going to treat it. Take care and sending the love. Eva...wish I could find decent audio books at our library. They have about a dozen and I've "read" all of them. I put in a request today to see if there is a way they can get more. Certainly going to hit your libary when we are down in AZ. Arlene....have fun with GF. Poor girl sounds like she doesn't know what she wants. I know you will be there for her for support. Good going on journaling and planning your food prior to going out to eat. Boy, you did the multi-quote and answered all at one time.....looking at all those quotes made it look like we beat the he!! out of you today. OOPS. Had a nice time with my friend. We drove to a town about an hour away, did some craft and fabric shopping, hit a dept. store and got 70% off on a few items, had lunch, hit a consignment shop on the way home. All in all a nice day. Now have supper in the oven and expect my guys in about an hour. Plan on spending a quite evening reading and pretending that I am listening to DH about what he is reading about on his forum "Ag Talk". I know, I'm bad. You all have a great evening.

TGIF....that phrase means nadda to me since I have not worked for years but it's for all of you that need a break from your work routine. Arlene...you seemed to be better off when you had your appts with the nutritionist and had to be accountable on a weekly basis. I know for myself, if I wouldn't have had those bi-weekly and then monthly check-ins with my LB doc, I don't think I would have done as well. Since you are unable to attend the meetings try to either find another one to attend or try to make things work so you can attend the one that did work for you. It's time to think of you. Arrange YOUR time without thinking of what you need to do for others and go back to those weekly meetings that worked for you. You can do for others when it fits your routine. (This is my lecture for the day...down off my Soup box). Jessica...please don't let someone tell you how YOU are feeling on the inside. He may be a doctor but he is not a God. Only you know what is on the inside. He may think he is right on with his judgements but if you know he not, just blow off his comments. My take on it is that he's being an A$$. Congrats on your grades and for all you have accomplished this last your. This mother hen is so proud of you. Janet...I have one of those floor cleaners. I only do the down on the knees scrubbing spring and fall. The cleaner does not get into groves and it may as well go into the dumpster. All it is good for is sucking the Water back up. It gave me a good workout (which doesn't hurt anybody) and I use knee pads. Love your hope ditty. It's soooooooo important the way a person talks to themselves. In certain situations hope can be a negative word. Kelly....good morning....hope you have a good day. Ooops...strike that last sentence...You WILL have a good day. Hi LauraK...have a good weekend. Laura...saw request for recruitment at your clinic...if I didn't live so far away, I'd sign up. Phyll...how are you doing? Big plans for the weekend. Julie....hoping you get into the new doc soon. My hope is that he just takes everything you are on and starts over. Those meds have to be affecting your system on many levels. It's been months and months with many different doctors and on doesn't know what the other is treating you for. If you could just have one follow it all the way through and push for putting their finger on what it is that is causing your trouble. I would be a wicked by now and insisting on answers. If there wasn't one provided, I'd be moving on and pushing with another doc. Great...what's your plans for Thanksgiving???? We will be spending it on the 27th with DH's family...kind of a TG/Christmas party b/4 FIL takes off for AZ for the winter. I still might cook for my little family on Thurs...not sure. Gotta call the girlfriend. DS's mind is too much into work and cannot give me an answer. TX...I like your attitude about shooting for the 60 mile walk. I've thought of doing the 60 mile bike ride. I'd have to have my rear fitted extra padding though. Love to bike but have not found the ideal bike seat. Have tried many. Cheri...sounds like you are doing good except for the gassy problem. Hopefully, that will ease and go away. Surprise quacks are no fun. Well...better get going. Got my DKNY black skinny jeans on with a boiled wool sweater and my boots. Cold today. You all have a good one!

Arlene...Albert Lea is about 5 hours from where I live. And, I'll be around this weekend. Didn't see that question till now. It's a working weekend for us and all until the ground freezes hard. Don't mind though. I get so much free time during the summer. Julie...hope tomorrow is a better day. Just vegging with DH tonight. Popcorn time pretty soon. The dog has been sitting in his "popcorn place" for about an hour. I can't make him or my tummy wait much longer. Heading out with a friend tomorrow for a shopping day. Have an extra guy working so he can run if my men need parts. Really looking forward to the day. Have not been able to spend time with this friend for a loooooooong time. She was the one we did the benefit for in late Sept. Her DD was so very sick all spring and summer. It will be a great day for her also (not only cuz she's with me) just because she has not had any time for herself for so very long. Have a good evening

Kelly...that's a lot of service to our country in your family. 4 tours in Vietnam is the one the stuck out with me. Amazing. Good going on the walk. The more weight you lose, the easier it will get. We don't have to run to get the exercise. I've never deducted the calories from a workout. Just set what I thought it would take to lose a couple of pounds a week and went from there. There were days every couple of weeks that I went over the usual intake but that was with my "planned treat days". Just a thought. You are doing great and nice to have you here and for you to have a place to post your daily routine. Makes a way for us to be accountable.
