kinda personal question
Apples2 replied to p3photogal's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Give your surgeon's office a call to see what he recommends. -
I was guided to this forum by my dr. I really do think the reason was that there are so many questions prior to surgery. I have the feeling my dr. thinks that if you can survive what is discussed on LBT, then you are a good candidate for the surgery. Where are you going to learn if not from ones that have or are going through it? Each person has their own success/not-so-successful stories. Everyone has their way of getting their point across. Yes, the same old questions are asked over and over. There are going to be complaints and most are just looking for answers. Everyone handles situations differently. I usually can go through surgery (not banded yet) and recover quickly and have the same energy as b/4 in a short time period. Maybe this time I will be one of the ones "bitching" and whining cuz I just want to ask if it is normal, etc. I am so happy that I will have this forum to fall back on and have some reassurance within minutes when it's my turn to go through surgery and recovery. The way I feel about LBT is: it's like family. We are all in this together...the good and the bad. We are here to get support and give support.

I have a question for you 50's? What did your dr. recommend for vitamins post surgery? Are they in the liquid form? Can you fill me in please? I am trying to get things lined up a little ahead of time. Thanks -
Allykat...so happy that you posted to let us know that you are doing better. Good luck to you and hoping you see weight loss results soon
-
Good news, Coco. Can't wait for that day when I get the call. Good luck with your surgery, recovery and everything that comes with it!
-
Tim, you should be so proud of yourself.

Can you name 1, or 2 things you would love to do once you reach your goal?

I want to get dressed up and hear my husband say what he used to say "Dang you are sexy" instead of what he says now...a really bland "You look nice". -
Not even going to post what I ate yesterday. Starting anew today. Bought some Protein powder over the weekend. Want to see how it tastes and how it goes b/4 I have to start my pre-op diet. So my plan for today: B: 1 egg and 1 sausage L: Protein shake with a few strawberries S: 1 oz beef jerkey D: Grilled talapia/veggies Nothing but the above is going in my mouth today other than the above. I need an A$$ kicking for what went in there yesterday.

Just printed this off for my friend that is living with us for a month till her new home purchase is complete. She found out her man was cheating on her for the last year or more. No shrimp involved in her move. She just mixed a can of cayenne pepper in his butt and ball powder. I catch her smiling everyone once in awhile.

Wishing you good luck on your six mo. pre-op. Also, sending you good luck for approval by your ins. company

Green..so sorry to hear of your news. Please know that my heart goes out to you. -
I work out of the home and it seems that most everything I eat is truly homemade. All our meat is purchased from our neighbors, homemade canned goods etc. So, I will list what I eat but I can tell you that I am not going to go to the bother of looking up the nutrients. Is that OK with everyone? I don't have a can or a package. I do weigh everything I eat on my Salter food scale, type in my food but I don't bother to write down only but the calories. Lazy, huh? Today: B: 2 eggs, scrambled L: Beanless chile made with V-8 juice and lean ground beef S: 1 oz beef jerkey D: 3 oz turkey with salsa

Apples2 replied to kareyquilts's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Karey...what a difference. I bet you are happy that the surgery is behind you and you now can reap the benefits. Thank you for sharing. -
Hi Fellow MN's, Happy to hear that your surgery went well, Three, and that you are one the mend. I will most likely have my surgery the end of May or in June. BCBS requires a 6 mo. prep period. I am anxious to get it done and on the lapband road. I feel like I am hanging in limbo. Let's see if we can keep this MN thread actively going and see if we get some other poster as well
-
Will be thinking of you tomorrow. Wishing you a quick recovery and a great relationship with your band
-
Was an OK day B: 2 sausage patties L: Grilled chicken strips/salsa D: 3 large meatballs with stewed tomatoes

I'm not banded yet so I have been just kind of counting calories since the end of Nov. I have been at a standstill the last couple of weeks and was happy to see this thread the other day. I need a new motivation. Low carbs had worked for me b/4 and I plan on (hopefully) sticking to this plan until I start my pre-op liquids. I have to admit that I have never been a big label reader. I have started the last few months though. Thanks for answering my question.....Thanks to you LJM, also
-
Thanks for the answer, Denise
-
Ok LJM, when you say "net" carbs....what's the diff?
-
How many grams of protein in the Atkins Bars, Denise? B/4 I decided to do more protein, I was eating Nature Valley oat bars. Just about crapped when I looked up carbs yesterday and they contain 29g/serving. DAH! Don't want to eat those anymore!
-
Thanks, Georgia. I remember someone mentioning the WalMart chix breast a couple of weeks ago but could not find the thread when I was looking yesterday.
-
Lorid...nice weight loss even b/4 your surgery. I'm pre-surgery and waiting to submit paperwork to ins. company. Wishing you all the best!

Hi Hunzi...I, too, have a DH that lacks talent in the kitchen. I have become pretty independent since becoming an empty-nester 7 years ago. My DH gets a lot of freezer meals when I am off and running. Hey..either he learns to cook or he eats out of the freezer. At least it's something homemade and honestly not lacking in taste or quality. I bet your DH will survive through this also. Good luck to you.

Today's eats B: 2 eggs scrambled L: pizza burger...no bun 1 cup spinach D: Pork loin 1/2 cup brocolli

Boo Boo Kitty - I think one of the only things that freaks me out about this entire process is the protien shakes. I am pre-op (maybe June band). I am trying to gather as much info as possible on how to get my Protein in the liquid stages. The thing that freaks me is the way Protein Shakes have that "vitamin smell". I have a list of different brands and varieties that I can get on the net. I have:confused_smile: never heard of the Herbal Life shakes. Did you get them on line or do you have to go through a Herbal Life "dealer"?
