Thanks for your explanation. I, too, like to have a couple socially. I usually plan ahead during the week and tweak my diet to allow the extra calories if I know I might have a drink or two on the weekend.

preop-surgery-postop advice
Apples2 replied to LateBloomer's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
EricaLyn...I did offend the OP with the way I worded my post and apologized. I flew off the handle and posted in haste. The reason we are all on this journey is because most of us have failed many times attempting to lose this weight. The one and only way that I can see success in this is to follow the rules provided by my dr. and the basic lap band rules. -
preop-surgery-postop advice
Apples2 replied to LateBloomer's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
OK OK...so maybe I could have chosen a better word than "shame". I did not post to tear you to shreds and sorry if you took it that way. It just drives me nuts when I see posts similar to yours that convey the message "I cheated and I'm OK so do it if you want to". (Not a direct quote). Yes, there are many different pre-op diets out there and each and everyone should be ENCOURAGED to stick to what their dr. states should be done pre-op and post-op. Sorry if I offended you. -
why are people such HATERS!!!!???
Apples2 replied to gg2007BandSTAR's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
GG and Diz...thanks for the encouragement. I am a strong person and have taken three years to prepare for this surgery. It's getting so close and that is affecting me. Believe me, by the time I lay down to sleep tonight, I will have everything sorted through. That last comment from my friend just brought everything to a head. She proved she does not know anything about what I am dealing with here. She stated that this is no different than Gastric Bypass and that it is proven not to work in the long run and that the risks are really great. Just irritated me to no end. I will be fine and thanks for your concern! -
preop-surgery-postop advice
Apples2 replied to LateBloomer's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Latebloomer...happy things worked out for you but I am having a difficult time with you gloating about your pre-op diet cheating. I don't want to sound harsh but I would feel shame in encouraging others to do the same. I wish you continued success on your post-op diet. I hope you have better luck than with your pre-op. -
When you say you are having a hard time with it....does that mean your system is not tolerating the alcohol? Would you mind explaining. I like to have a drink once in awhile and would love to continue after surgery. But, if I end up not being able to tolerate it, I will give it up:mad2:

Huggie Bear...wishing you good luck tomorrow. Will be thinking of all of you June 3rd people. God bless.
-
Gardengirl...thanks. Wishing you luck with your surgery next Monday. Make sure to check in and let us know how things went. Think good thoughts and get rest this week.

Thanks for the encouraging words, Kerry. And good luck this week with handling your own stress. Pretty sure I am somewhat of a mess because I got negative crap from two friends over the weekend about my decision to have this surgery. Just got me into emotional overload. I am going to go out in the field and ride a few rounds in the tractor with my husband ant talk. He has a way of bringing me back around. Good luck on your liquids. I start tomorrow.

Apples2 replied to gg2007BandSTAR's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
gg....I had a similar conversation with a good friend over the weekend. Her negative reaction to me having this surgery has sent me into an emotional tail spin. I have two short weeks b/4 my surgery and now I wish I would have never told her what I am up to. I have been choking back tears and crying since Sat. evening when we had our discussion. (Or, should I say, she had her discussion). -
OK Kids....Not sure what is wrong with me today but I am an emotional wreck!!!!!!! Surgery is two weeks away and weepy and choked up today. Anyone else go through this prior to their date?

Social Group created for 6 month supervised dieters.
Apples2 replied to Froggi's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
What a great idea, Froggi. Nice to have others to rely on that are going through the same thing. And others might jump in with advice that are no longer doing the diet. -
I cannot hardly see through the tears. God Bless each and everyone of our soldiers and their family and friends.

BrandyII. Thanks for your concern. As I stated above, my son is doing better. He does have resources he can rely on and will and has used them when necessary. -

My son is actually doing a lot better this week. He went to Memorial Day services this morning. I think the toughest part for him was being in the midst of everything when his buddies were hit. He has a huge advantage in that he will pour his heart out and talk about it. I think that is half the battle and it helps him to work through things when it gets to him. He's strong and he knows that this is something that will revisit from time to time. I hope and pray that things will continue to calm in the middle east. God Bless all who gave their lives and God Bless their loved ones. -
Was doing a crossword this morning and the Lap Band commercial came on. You know...the one with the lady in her kitchen and the big old wild cat lurking around the corner. Does anyone ever wonder if she is one of us on Lapbandtalk.com. Could she, as well, be lurking just around the corner?:cursing:

What if I 'Pre Diet' Myself out of Qualification?
Apples2 replied to Jameskc's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was just barely 40 BMI with some comorbidities. Every ins. company is different but mine took my beginning BMI and weight. I was required to do the six month diet also. My surgeon encouraged weight loss and my ins. company also encouraged it during that time period. I had not trouble getting approved. Just a couple of days. Jump through the hoops...do what is required of you. The six months actually gives you time to wrap your head around the life change after banding. Do as much research as you can during that time. By the time your surgery date comes, you will have a clear understanding of what you are in for. Good luck and take care. -
I have told some of my friends that I will be banded. I am sure that it will spread to people that I don't care to disclose it to but will just keep them guessing. Most time I don't feel like getting into a discussion about MY BUSINESS with just a casual friend or acquaintance when I am asked by that person how I am losing weight. I'm not keeping things completely secret but I don't want to give information about being banded cuz don't want to be judged by someone that really isn't a part of my life.

OMG...I didn't mention that I have two sons. 27 and 25. One farms with us and the other lives in Daytona Beach and is a flight instructor. Our baby is a black lab named Tanker..7 years old. -
Kat, good to see your pretty face back here again. Happy to hear that you are home and up and about some. Wishing you a speedy recovery. I look forward to your updates on your PS. Thank you for sharing. As I am sure you know, it paves the path for us thinking of eventually going down that road. Take care of yourself.
