Woohoo! 10lbs to go!

Hey Gang...lurking, catching up, etc. On reflux issue...what Long and Phyll said. Dangerous to let it go too long and can have long term effects with band and with health. Hope you are feeling better, Julie. Maybe take a listen to what Phyll said. Try to not eat and drink b/4 bed and see what happens. Hope things settle down for you. Hi to everyone else..good going on all the weight losses. I am in that "disgusted" stage again. Have a not too filled band, eating as much as I can. Maintaining but not gaining. I just don't get it. I know some of you have given me the advice to not worry about it. At least I have not lost since Feb. Feel great, have excessive energy, etc. Dr. appt. on 20th. He tells me not to worry so I will go with that. Just had to vent........AGAIN (please don't take this as a brag)

OK...this entire memorial thing really is a circus. Just heard on the news that the Ringling (sp?) Bros. Circus is waiting in the wings to get into the arena immediately after MJ's service. How appropriate is that?

LOL, Beth...13? Their unlucky #

Similar experience was had by suicide bomber/terrorists when they blew themselves up, looked around and their 13 virgins were not sitting their waiting for them.

Happy Day! #1: In hope that all this media "adoration" of MJ will be put to rest. #2: In hope that, if there is a hell, MJ is there looking around all pissed because there's no one under the age of 18.

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Joanne...I am also amazed at the people in my life that have NEVER said a word about my weightloss. But, I chalk it up to the fact that maybe commenting on someone's weight is something they consider to be rude, etc. I get more comments from people that I barely know more so than people that are in my life every day. -

Count me in as one that is "retired/stay at home". I owned two ins. agencies for many years, sold in 1997, could not take retirement. Went to work as the main grain accountant with a super busy grain company. 90 hours a week was not unusual and interferred with me helping out when needed on our own farm. Finally called it quits after two years of the best job I ever had and the worst job (stresswise) I have ever had. I am FINALLY, after ten years, settling into life without a job to call my own. It was tough on me after having a business that I could call my own. My DH and I own a farm and have another business managed by our son (still participate in daily). DH tries to include me in management decisions but there have been sooooooooooooo many times very expensive equipment will be delivered that DH "forgot" to let me in on. He by no means was trying to decieve me....just makes so many decisions on his own. A reminder once in awhile of how I feel better if included helps. Welcome Newbies. I am not very active on this site during the summer and only have time to respond a couple of days a week. I love taking the time to catch up with my threads and plan on staying active....what a better way to stay on top of things with the band and make new friends! I also would welcome anyone to PM me. -
Salty: soynuts, beef jerky, 100 cal popcorn Chocolate: Viativ chews, Pure Protien bars (cut up and just a bite/save for later) Sweet: SF jello with FF cool whip

You know what, Hon....if we took a poll on LBT only, I bet we would find waaaaaaaaay more sexually abused ppl than we ever thought could be congregated on one site. It's a well known fact that a lot of eating disorders are attributed to sexual abuse. So sorry for you and all who have been preyed upon by sick minded pediphiles (sp?). I see your anger and I can match that. I understand completely where you are coming from. Give me a hollar if you ever need help. I carry a big stick!

I find the peach tea to have a really pleasant taste. Also, they come in handy when you order that second water....most pple don't bug you for not drinking....looks like a drink.

I always carry pre-packaged soynuts and Kashi Go Lean Crunch cereal in my truck. The cereal has a lot of fiber and 9gr of protein per 1 cup. The soynuts REALLY tide me over. 1/3 will carry me for hours. At this stage of my maitenance, I have to be careful when I eat them or I am not hungry for waaaaaaaay too long so I eat them at night b/4 bed. OMG...to fur babies and kids in the car on such a long trip. Hope you don't have to do one of those "Don't make me pull over" statements. My dad could have a Suburban full of 8 kids and take one swipe, hit us all at once time and not have to take his eyes off the road!

I carry the Crystal Lite individual serving packets in my purse. I order Grey Goose vodka and water. I make sure to order a tall. Since being banded I am VERY careful not to overdo. Alcohol affects me soooooooooo much more than b/4. I try to order a side glass of water when I order a drink and also skip that second and third round that everyone else is ordering. Like Alexandra said...alcohol can make you very hungry. I have come home from a date with DH and feel that I am starving. I find that eating cottage cheese b/4 my one drink helps with that feeling. Not sure why. Have fun....be safe!
-
Janet...have a great time at your DS. Enjoy the BBQ's. Wishing everyone a GREAT 4th of July weekend. For those driving...be safe. Want to see you all back on Tuesday. I am heading out early in the morning...yep...to the lake! Bye Bye!

James Brown was MJ's "idol".
-
Ok..farm girl here. Had to turn my radio on to hear the farm market report. Caught the news..MJ's body is going to be in a 2 mile procession to Neverland and be laid for public reviewal sometime next week. WTH...something is tragically wrong with this picture. Not only has his death gotten waaaaaaaaaaaay too much air time but you can bet there will be memorial services, etc. that could match any U.S. President's or the pope

Meredith...welcome to Bandland! Happy to hear that everything went so great. Take care of yourself. Try to get your required cals in...important for healing and for losing. Get plenty of fluids and rest. Keep us informed on how you are doing and dealing. Hugs:wub:

Most of my peace came from face to face confrontation with the rat-ass bastard and taking ALL $$$$$$$$$$ from my mother's sympathy cards, matching those funds and donating to sexual abuse advocacy foundation in the county I grew up in. (Mother supported abuser).
-
Awwww...sorry, rodriuezequal, for what you had to endure. I had many sleepless nights, horrible nightmares,etc....but decided that he had taken enough from me. Went to a therapist for the help I needed to deal with it. It will always be there but I now have peace. Hope you can experience that some day soon. Don't mean to highjack this thread and veer to a different subject....sorry....just kinda touches on how childhood abuse can affect a person. And, as said b/4, may he rot in hell.
-
Well said...nothing bugs me more than a child abuser, murder, etc. sitting in prison and boo-hooing and using the excuse that he is in there because he was abused as a child. Now, I do have sympathy for him that he was abused as a child but it should NEVER be used as an excuse for devious acts. I can honestly say that when my family member abuser (ten years worth) happens to go to his grave some day, I will shed no tears.
-
Yep...you can bet there was $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ involved with the aquisition of these children. I thought it was put out there a couple of days ago that the two older children are NOT biologically his and that the younger one was adopted. I am laying in wait for the abused to come out of the woodwork to confirm what we already know. Not sure how that works with the "under the table" settlement if they are ever allowed to go public with it?????
-
Yep, Beth....sold myself short on that one. Just putting another stack of DVD's in the Bose....."running to make sure no MJ's included" (like have any on hand)
-
Janet...I have tried three different baked goods made with Truvia. Pumpkin pie, shortcake and shortbread cookies. I really didn't see or taste the difference (with using Splenda). There's a lot of recipes on their website. My DH didn't even notice the difference and he LOVES my recipe where I used to use sweetened condensed milk in my pumpkin pie recipe. PJ....darn...too bad you are sick during your vacation. Hope you are feeling better soon. Have fun with your DIL. As to your ? about cooking and being around food. Well, I can truly say it does not bother me a bit. I guess I just make sure I have good/healthy choices on hand. I do eat what everyone else eats most of the time unless it is not band friendly. I believe a person has to live life and not be deprived. All about a true balance in what we eat.

Hang in there jarronz...it only gets better when you get to the right amount of fills. Continue to make good food choices and try to find some activities to keep you busy when the hunger pangs hit. Take a walk, grab a book and sit in the tub for a soak, call a friend, etc. I cook for a group of farmers most days and have revamped most of my recipes to low fat (or fat free), low sugar, etc. and I eat with them. I just make sure that I get plenty of protien with each meal (I get at least 70gr/day). I always make sure to eat protien first and then whatever fruit or veggie that I can still get in. I allow a few snacks throughout the day. I still get hungry every 2-3 hours but actually have gotten to the point of detecting "head hunger" rather than real hunger. You will get there. Just be patient and see how you react to your fills. Just go online and type in low fat or fat free recipes. Good for you and a good idea to get your family used to eating healthily! Good luck...you can do this!
