Apples2 replied to DeLarla's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
OK...the afters were taken today....the b/4 was at my highest of 249lbs. Ugh! -
GY...those puppies are sooooooooooo cute. Cold and wet here also. Can't blame those little ones for getting the shakes. Happy to hear your swelling is decreasing and that your ankle seems better. Have a great weekend!

All I can say is do EXACTLY as your doc says. Each doc is different and has a different set of rules to abide by. This process is not an easy fix but, believe me, the months fly by and the lost pounds add up over time. A year from now you are going to be so surprised how time has passed. Fire away with any questions you may have. We have all stages for lapbanders on this thread. There are some that have been banded for quite some time and have great advice and even a kick in the pants once in awhile:tt2:. Dont' be afraid to jump into our group. You will meet a great bunch of lapbanders. Welcome

Janet...after being at your job for 30 years I don't think you have to worry about a pink slip. I just hate layoffs and what it does to a person. Keeping my fingers crossed. Julie...good new about the PT....have fun playing cards. I wear cards out playing with my friends at the lake. Phyll, you are such a go-getter. Never thought you would be as active as you are already. You go girl! Again, safe travels. Hope you are doing good with your company, Lori. Laura...thinking of you. Hi Linda!!!!!!!!!!
-
Hey Gang! Have a GREAT wedding weekend, Eva. Your card sound beautiful. Hope you can get it their without it getting crushed. Have fun! Alright...I am close to computer illiterit(sp?)....can someone walk me through posting photos on the b/4 and after thread?????????????

Globally...happy to see you back. Sounds like you have a handle on the food part of this. You've done great on the weight loss. May surgery date and the amount you have lost....something to be proud of. Yep, getting out there and moving are so important. It's tough to do sometimes but makes a person just feel so much better. Always nice to have a place like this to be accountable. You can always come her at the end of the day and "confess" or brag about the workout or the lack of in your day. Lori...you are a very sensitive person (not a thing wrong with being sensitive) and an easy target for your mom and sisters. Bet they don't even realise what they are doing and if called on it, would have the biggest question mark on their faces. Hang in there, let DH wait on you. It's YOUR life with YOUR DH...not their lives. They are on the outside looking in and that's where they belong.
-
Lori...hang in there on the family issues. Sometimes mothers can be sooooooooooooo hard on their daughters. Hope you find a "smokin" outfit to wear out to dinner. Good going on the PT. I've heard from friends that have had replacement that it's a bear. Julie...happy to made it through your trip without much drama and are now home safe and sound getting back into the routine. Always nice coming home again, isn't it?
-
Welcome back, Julie...didn't pay attention to when you said you would get back. Was hoping you had a good trip and was safe. Darn this weather. What I wouldn't give to be wearing sandals today. We know when our snow starts with early, it's going to be a heck of a long winter. Glad we have our six week trip booked for FL.

Breakfast ideas that don't involve EGGS!
Apples2 replied to thecooley's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I make a pot of the steel cut oats and freeze in the one cup Glad portion containers. That way, I just have to defrost in the mircorwave and not cooking it on a daily basis. Always at my fingertips. I do as poster said above. SF maple syrup, raisins, 1/2 banana, mix a Tbls of peanut butter in it. I also eat Fiber One and Kashi cereals. They have protein, plus I get my fiber. Pure Protein bars and Myoplex Lite bars are great also. Turkey sausages with a little salsa to give them a kick, cottage cheese topped with mango salsa or fresh fruit. -
OOOPS...Good Morning to everyone else!!!!!!!!!! Laura...thinking of you Lori.....thinking of you Julie....Are you back yet??????

Unshackled...like Janet said...jump right in with your questions and concerns. Tell us where you are at in your journey. We talk about a little of everything on this thread but there is always a brain to pick. Love love new people joining us and sticking around to become part of our little group (family as Janet explained it). Meredith....I LOVE NineWest jeans. I have no hips and there is a certain style that fits me well and I can usually buy longs in certain dept. store. When you were talking about maternity clothes, I had to go back and reread. OK...embarrassing story but it worked for me. When I weighed 249# I carried sooooooooo much through the middle (hence my signature name Apples2). When I started to shed the weight it came off my face, arms and legs and the last to go was the mid-section. I NEEDED things to wear and there were absolutely no pants that would fit. I went to Target to the maternity section and found 2 pair of slacks and a pair of capris to get me through the process. Hey, it worked for me and they looked really nice with a top over them. Embarrassing at 53yrs old to be in the maternity dept. Struck up a conversation with a young pregnant lady in that dept. Lied and said they were for my DIL (don't have one). Don't think I will go to hell for that little white lie, will I? You made mention of my schedule. I honestly don't see it as busy. I am actually BORED and that's the reason of thinking of going back to work. When I was in college I always set my school schedule from 7am (yep, a few professors on campus at that time for classes) until 12pm and took at bus to the mall and worked from 12:30 till 9pm. Studied, and did it all again the next day. I worked full time. I guess after doing that schedule, raising kids, working on the farm and working more than full time in town for over 20 yrs, things seem slow in my life right now. I need more stimulation. There's only so much "farm" talk I care to carry on. I keep on top of the grain markets (I do a share of the grain marketing and DH does a share and DS does a share) and am interested but a lot of time when all the guys are sitting around the table talking about bearrings, slipped belts, combine heads I drift off. Remember Charlie Brown and when his teacher would talk? That's about all I hear when all these farmers are "deep" into their machinery conversations. Have fun with your travelling friend. Sorry you miss your sister and her puppy. Linda....my dog is finally back to normal and back on his food. Was getting a little concerned. He's this 100lb black lab that spends the evenings in our laps watching tv. Butt hanging off the foot of the recliner and with his head on our shoulder snoring like a baby. So much love for him. You must have given your last puppy really good care and lots of love for him to live to 20 yrs old. Janet...I have seen the Starbucks Italian roast instant advertised but cannot find it around here. I purchased one of those pump coffee keepers (like you see in coffee shops) to keep me with fresh coffee throughout the day. DH uses the instant packets when I am not around and he does not want to make a full pot. One of my favorite trips is to a restaurant supply store about 60 miles away from here. Any extra $$$$ that I think I can swing goes for kitchen supplies. My favorite is my Kitchen Aid professional mixer with all the accessories....even found it in the cinnimon barn red color...same color as my dining set, hutch and corner cabinet. I, too, have found that I don't post in as many threads as I used to. Was into the 50's, June 2008 and others but with being gone so much in the summer and not having computer access, I just catch up with a couple of threads now. What does that tell you? I get more out of being on this thread with all you guys. Our June 2008 thread really never did take off. At first it was OK and then everybody kind of dropped off. You are lucky your Lucky 7 group stays close. Got rain and stopped the harvest again. So close but so far away in getting the last 140 acres of soybeans out of the field. Still have guys to feed today as they are hauling the dry beans to Cargill today. Better go. Bread has risen and ready for the oven. Made honey/wheat/cottage cheese bread. Making chicken chow mein to go with it and made a carrot cake this morning. None of it interests me as I am still pretty dizzy today. Have a standing prescription since I get it each fall when it freezes. Just takes a few days to run it's course. DS and DH are both sick with colds. They both had fevers yesterday and worked out in the cold and rain. Just have to ask this question....why do guys whine way much more when they are sick than women do??????????????????????????????????????????
-
Sorry on saying goodbye to the kitties. I hope they get adopted also. I would take them both if I were closer. Never been worried about stalkers. Long story short...has to do with family on here and not wanting them to know certain things about my life. You'd have to know the whole story (mega abuse, life threatening things in the past, etc.) is why I have not posted photos. But, can be brave

Too funny on the question, Janet! Yup...this chicky does get off the ole' farm and out of the bib overalls once in awhile! When you live in a rural community and the closest town has a population of 129 and the next largest is 5000 pop. and you know everyone within a 30 mile radius, you get invited to absolutely every event going on and sometimes two or three at a time. Weddings (had 7 this summer) Birthday parties Bridal showers, baby showers, stagette showers, showers just to have showers Church functions Lunch with friends Out to dinner with DH Volunteering Anniversary parties Etc, etc, etc, etc As soon as I can get my DS to help and I take a few photos, I am going to post in the b/4 and after. I have never posted a pic on here b/4 and will now get brave and just do it

Sounds like pretty good results. Hoping you do not have to be treated for the low BP and it will improve.

Arlene...if you are having these symptoms and living TX, you would never survive a MN winter....for that matter a MN fall or spring. We are now getting an icy rain that I am sure will freeze over night and expecting snow thru the night. I, on the other hand, could not do your hot summers. It's so hard for me to wrap my head around the kind of symptoms you are having due to cold weather. You would think it would manifest itself in your extremities not your midsection. I know it must be a real pain (no pun intended) for you and hoping that your meds will do the trick and that you do not have this for the long run. OK, girls. Just talking this morning about how my closets are full and I am DONE shopping cuz I am in need of not a thing. Blah, blah, blah....I lied! Went to see my sick "mom" and took her some Cookies. Stopped to see my friend that has an overstock clothing store and brought him cookies. He knows my size and lays things in the back for me. Wellllllllllllllllllllll, 2 jackets walked out the door with me. One Liz jacket and one Jone NY navy/white small print check for next spring. Spent $25 for both. Went on my merry way to have lunch with a friend who lives 50 miles from here. Went to a nice lake front restaurant...nice lunch. During lunch she is telling me of a new consignment shop that she has found some great deals on high-end clothes. Wellllllllllllllll, went APE SH_T in that store. I swear they knew I was coming and stocked things in my size. Dropped $128 but wait till you hear all I got! I am tough to fit and I actually found LONG jeans in perfect condition in the low rise. 3 pair of long...brand name is Seven for All Mankind jeans (these are usually 90-200 a pair. I paid not more than $15 and got one pair for $7.50. Got a Harve' Bernard wool olive colored jacket, a wool red zipper sweather with a fur black color, a Jones NY below the knee pea coat (brand new....tags still on) for $15, Woolrich wool black and grey vest $18, Kenneth Cole Black dressy cardigan, 2 pair of Thinsulate leather gloves in plum and orange (yes, I have coats to match) for $6/pr. Original tags are still on and say $65/pr. When I left I told the lady I felt like I hit the lottery. My kind of shopping. NOW, I am done.....I think:wink2:

I remember seeing your posts quite a few months back. I cannot help you with what you are going through as I have never been too tight. I do know that the cough could be attributed to tightness. You might want to keep an eye on that. There are a couple of women on this thread that have had issues after a fill and am sure when they have time will respond to your post. Just wanted to jump in and let you know you will get an answer. Sorry you are having issues.

Laura...you are such a good mommy and can see why it tears you apart to leave Nelson. Just breathe....be there for your parents and let DH and SIL spoil him for awhile. Kids survive for a bit without their parents. Spent a month away from my boys when they were younger..in hospital...botched surgery. They survived and had fun with dad and others that stepped in to watch them They thought of it as an adventure. You are only a phone call away and, remember, SIL is a mom and bet she will step up the the plate for you. Damn the cancer. I had held out hope for a different diagnosis. Will be praying for you and your family. Safe travels, Laura.

WE ARE FAMILY....I GOT ALL MY SISTER WITH ME! WE ARE FAMILY....GET UP EVERYBODY AND SING! (POINTER SISTERS) Just a little song for the day!
-
Lori...oops...noticed I called you Long in the last post to you. Good luck at your appt today. Pop in, if just for a little post, to let us know what you found out. Good luck on the sister front. Pick me, pick me! I need a sista! Julie........where are you?

I keep the little packets of Crystal Lite (I like the generic brands also and cheaper) in my purse and when I feel like having a drink I just order a tall Grey Goose Vodka and water. Mix my little drink and I am good to go!

Laura...sounds like your dad knows exactly what he wants and is putting it out there (which is a very good thing...he is taking the bull by the horns and making his own decisions). Nice you respected his wishes. And, really sweet that he is thinking of Nelson's feelings and how he will react. Will keep your family in my thoughts and prayers. Hope you all get some answers, and soon. It is tough letting those little babies go when you are so used to giving them the care they need. I bet DH will do just fine and it will be good for you to go see your parents without having to worry about Nelson being bored, scared, worried, etc. Eva...do post a photo of your wedding outfit. I don't like most of the clothes in shops either. I am not a trendy dresser. I go for more of the tailored clothes...ones I can hang onto for years and they still look like they are in style. I just buy and few pieces throughout that match what I have and it's like a new outfit. I LOVE clothes and my closets prove it. Took me no time to fill up the closets when DH told me to go buy what I "needed". There's wants and there's needs.....I guess I just had a tough time diferentiating (sp) between the two. LOL. It was fun shopping but I am done now. Have enough for all seasons. We live over 2 hours away from any shopping center so I basically just made a few trips and "Gotter Done". Woke up with my annual verdigo this morning. Flew out of bed and almost landed on the floor. Something that happens every year about the time it freezes. I am not sure if it is a sinus thing or and ear thing. Usually lasts a few days and then done. Anyway, feel crosseyed and careful when I walk. Something I have had since I was about 15. Not too much of a bother cuz know it will leave me soon. Was in the 20's again overnight and this morning. My guys are out in this cold working on drain tile. They were out in it till 9pm last night b/4 they came in for supper. They come home dirty and happy to get the work done that they did. Maybe they were smiling cuz they came home to the smell of Cookies baking?????? Better get on with my day...hate to go out but need to drive to town to deposit the payroll, maybe coffee with a friend, visit with my sick "mom" and take her some cookies. Then back home...just me and the dog till my guys roll in again late. Gets lonesome. You all have a great day! Again, safe travels to you, Phyll.

Thought I would make DH's mother proud the summer after we got married and help pluck and gut chickens. I was a couple of month pregnant and spent more time running for the trees to puke than I did with my hand inside the chickens. Bleck:drool: I let our neighbor boys raise them, take them to the locker plant for cleaning and pay the price. Some of them are as big as turkeys and not fatty.

There's not much I won't try. Oysters..no. Escargot...yes...love it. Our Sundays growing up sound similar. We had a family of ten and I was the cook for as long as I can remember. Standing on a chair so I could reach the counter. It was Sunday mass and then home to prepare dinner. Roast or fried chicken. Always mashed potatoes and gravy. Corn or peas or string beans from the garden, a salad of some sort (usually rich and creamy) and a dessert. Whatever meat was left over (usually cooked 5 chickens or 4 beef roasts) was used for supper. As soon as dinner was over I would start the process of making the rolls to go with the supper. Always made from scratch and made a big enough batch to feed the family for the week. I still make a lot of bread but always whole grain made with cottage cheese now. When the bread was rising, I would start the pie crusts for three pies. It was just our Sunday tradition.

Hey Janet...forgot to mention anything earlier when you mentioned that today is your bro's anniversary of his death. Thinking of you. You'd have to tie me down in order to get me to eat lamb. Crown roast was our Thursday dinner growing up. I HATED lamb. Would spit as much to the dog as I could or wrap it in a napkin when no one was looking. Enjoy it though!
