Thanks, Lucy. I have to go electric cuz I LOVE a ceramic stove top. I think my mom had one of the first in the 60's. Easy clean-up.

Slightly embarassing question

Thanks, Amy...was not without effort but soooooo worth it. -
Slightly embarassing question
Apples2 replied to Amy1981's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sounds familiar...same thing happened to me. If I remember correctly, this went on for a few weeks. Hopefully, it will abate with time and things will be more "normal" for you. If it continues or becomes too bothersome, give your dr. a call and see what he has to say about it. Welcome to "Band Land"! -
Examples of "slider" foods?
Apples2 replied to JenFenRen's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Cereal is a slider. Cooked steel oats and raisins seem to stick with me for the entire morning though. Popcorn is a slider for me along with most fruits. -
I do a version of this with sweet potato "sticks". 3-4 of them are a nice addition to a meal. I lightly spray them with olive oil and shake a combo of Splenda and cinnamon on them.:cursing:

Laura..thanks for the update and still in hope that this thing with your dad is not as bad as they have made it to be. Bet you cannot wait to see DH and Nelson. Good idea on bringing Nelson in to see Grandpa b/4 he has his procedures. Hang in there and hope to hear from you again soon. Great...you are making great strides (pun intended) with your new knee. Good goin'. Forgot to mention earlier that I am excited to hear that you might swing FL. I am sure you will be disappointed if the other trip is canceled. Arlene...how is that hubby doing? Cheri...hope your conferences hold your interest and, if not, play hooky and go for that walk instead. I never seem to include everyone everyday. Sorry. I'm freaking old and have to write eveything down as I read posts. Never intentional to exclude.

I would say to make that call to your doc's office. You are in the early stages and every doctor has his/her own set of rules for their patients. Insist on getting an appt. so that you can actually sit down and visit with your doc or his nurse...you have so many unanswered questions and should really get the answers from his office. I hope by telling you to go back to your doc for answers will not deter you from coming back to LBT for support. Lapband Talk is a great place to come for support and interaction with other banders and I hope you will feel comfortable coming back time after time. Wishing you a great LB journey!

Evening Ladies...Hope everyone had a good day. Mine was busy running errands for the farm until about 3pm and then have been running back and forth to the soybean dump. Me and my dog. I dressed in my black coveralls and black hood jacket so that I would match my black puppa. Gotta get yer style on out at the dump! Great...sorry you were not invited to the family dinner. Phyll asked "What were they thinking?"...as far as I can tell, they weren't. You can bitch and complain all you want about it here. Sometimes just getting it out and getting someone else's take on it helps. It reminds me of the discussions I would have with my boys about birthday parties. My oldest had 11 boys in his class and only wanted to invite 10 when he was in second grade. Told him plain and simple it just wasn't right to not invite this boy. (He was the class bully and had a not so good family life). Told my son all were included or no party. (This was when he could not pronounce his "r's"). My son said "Well mom, you awe going to be so sowwy...Josh was waised wong". (raised wrong). Well, we had Josh at the party (brat) and I definately agree..he was waised wong. But, got a call from his momma and said Josh could hardly speak when he got home...he was so excited. We had Josh back to our home many times. One on one he was a delightful brat. My point...I'm not saying YOU were raised wrong...I'm saying it just hurts so much to be excluded. It's just plain wong.

You sound scared and frustrated. Here's what I would do...first off get rid of any temptations and stock with only band-friendly/healthy foods. You mentioned that you have company and there are not-so-healthy foods in your house. Try to avoid during the time that your family is there and then ask them to take all leftovers with them. Next, make sure to plan all your meals. Set your mealtime for yourself, if you can and stick to your plan. If you feel the need to eat something in between meals, make sure it is a healthy choice. I.e....a peeled apple, celery, cukes, any veggies. One thing that kept me sane was to plan my menu on the previous evening. I was less likely to fall off if I had that plan and healthy food choices at my finger tips. Could it be that you are not getting enough "hard" protein? If you eat this first at every meal, there is a tendency for staying full longer. Wishing you luck!

Thanks for the recipe. Anything new to "mix it up" is welcome in my book.

Aubrie...usually found in the bread aisle...around the area where the buns are. I know God put these on earth for Lapbanders!

Diva..Walmart has the Arnolds brand which was pointed out in a previous post. You could just start with 1/2 and see how it goes. There's 100 cals in two halves. I bought them for me to try last spring. We farm and all my guys eat out of a lunch box at least 3 days out of the week. Ended up making their sandwiches out of these and now they want nothing else. So, all spring, summer and fall they are a staple for there lunch. I just add a little extra egg salald or meat to make up for less bun. Better for them in the long, right?

Try not to panic. My hair loss started about 4 months out also and lasted for about 3 months or less. Mine lessened as the time went on and grew back nicely. I am not going to even take a stab at why this happens. Some people say not enough fats, some say not enough Protein. Who knows. I took Biotin, Vitamin E and always got my required 75 gr of protein a day and still went through the hair loss stage. I feel for what you are going through. You've done a great job on your weight loss. Congrats.

Meredith...nice to see your post. Figured you were busy with house closing, school, work. Hoping things fall together on this house in the time frame you need it to. Wouldn't that be fun if you could visit with Janet on your trip to CA? Hope it works for you guys. How nice of your sister to send you a ticket. Thanks for your comments on my photo. I am over half the size of what I was when heavy and am enjoying being able to MOVE without feeling so awful everyday. You have done really well to lose 55lbs. You should give yourself a big pat on the back! Regarding our FL trip. Though I would give Laura a little time here to be with her family and then contact her again when she gets home. Appreciate the offer and might get ahold of you. We'll see what Laura has to begin with and go from there. I don't want her to have to handle any more than she has right now. I do not mind if she feels she needs to sit back on the planning. I do know that we will clear things with the people that are going b/4 a final decision is made. We have talked about a house but it would just be Thurs thru Sunday so we will check out different options to see what is most efficient. Do we want to cook....NOT. That would be my vote but majority will rule and I will go with whatever. Have a busy day today. Off and running in my truck to do errands, etc. Will talk to you all later.

Pissed Part II - A Different Perspective
Apples2 replied to LisaMc's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What an eye opener for you and a very positive post. Your "AHA" moment could very well help others change their "pissed" attitude they have regarding their band. Also, good going on the weight loss so far....You are on your way! -
Yep, Laura, cancer does suck and I'm sorry you and your family have had to hit this head on. What I get from you is that you have a very close relationship with your parents/family and that is something so important at a time like this. Take care and thanks for the update. Sending love your way!

wls before surgery?
Apples2 replied to moviestartaal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My insurance company took my weight of my intitial meeting with my LB doc. I was encourage by my doc to lose weight on a six month medically supervised diet prior to surgery. I was actually able to lose of 50lbs. Being structured with your diet b/4 surgery (just my opinion) helps wrap your head around what you are in for after the surgery. I feel a person is better prepared. -

Hey 1Day...congrats on the problem! and thanks for the compliment. I am getting better at taking compliments. Takes a bit to learn to accept them. But, worked really hard to get to where I am at, just like everybody else so I will take them as genuine comments. Thank you. The only advice I can give you on the clothing size thing is to hit some consignment stores, Salvation Army shops, Goodwill. You will be going down more sizes and why waste the $$$$. I did. I was like Janet. Got to a 12 and thought that was it. Got to an 8 and thought that was it. I donated some really nice, hardly worn clothes. It's OK with me though. We have some pretty needy people in our area.

Hope everyone is having a good Sunday. I know the Sunday is to be a day of rest but it's not at our house today. The sun shone for the first time in awhile and needed to take care of my flower beds. Was going to do it earlier in the week but was not going to do it in the freezing rain. Also have my fall pumkins, etc. to put outside. Have my entry decorated for fall. We sure get on all kinds of subjects on this thread, don't we? I think with the diverse group we have, we could all put our heads together and figure out all the problems of the world! Just got back from running the (driving) 65 miles to our local Walmart. I do actually save money by driving that far. We pay almost double on some things in our small town. I do it about once a month. I do like to support our local stores but sometimes you just have to look out for the money in your own pocket. Got things to make up Halloween bags for my special neighbor tykes. I don't to too many treats. Mostly books, stickers, fruit snacks, 100 cal crackers, etc. No social events this weekend. I think this is the first weekend in six months that we did not have something going on. Feels good. Better hit it and finish my work outside so I can plant my butt on the couch for some TV and some DH time after supper. Hey...just love you guys!

When you are so happy about the way you feel that you could burst. When you can run the three sets of stairs in your house that used to be a killer to walk down or up, even slowly. When you beat the dog to the mailbox each day. When you get your entire house cleaned in one day instead of a couple of weeks. When the treadmill cannot tire you out no matter what setting you put it at. When overeating is that extra bite of talapia. I could go on and on...but you all get the idea!
