Thanks, Janet....yep. When I said goodbye to her I told her I would love her forever and ever. Got home from being with the family tonight. Opened mail and there was a Halloween card with a special note from her in there thanking me for providing her meals and treats. (She fell backwards going into the post office on their steps and mailing my card). A $10 bill fell out onto the floor when I opened the card. We were always going back and forth about her giving me money. She lived on SS and I knew she should not spend her money on me. I figure that $10 was her way of having the last word. She was stubborn and got her way. Will talk to you all next week. Family tomorrow all day, Sunday wake and Monday morning funeral. Thanks again to all of you for the kind words. I am doing good...not to worry. I am strong and accept what comes my way in life and have faith that she's made friends with half of the ppl in heaven and the other half is waiting in line.

Not sure if I will have time to respond to all posts this weekend so just want you all to know you mean a lot to me and appreciate you all. Not sure how I fell into such a great group (Oh yeah, now I remember.....I NEEDED HELP!). Heading over to meet with minister at 9am, doing funeral home for final arrangements at 1pm, and then hanging with the family. Wake Sunday and funeral Monday. Am thinking I will have overflow of cousins, etc. at my house this weekend and till after funeral. There is a reason I did so much baking this last week. Knew we didn't need it. Just got that urge and filled the freezer up. It will and has come in handy. Gotta go. Janet, I know you will put what you want to say....just thanking you ahead of time. Know it will be sweet. Laura...have not read your PM yet (will in a couple of minutes) and just want to thank you for what I know will be kind. Thinking of you and what you are going through in your own life with your parents. Take care. Karen

Lyn..thanks for the email and your kind words. Take care and fire those questions at the girls this weekend. Nothing like being prepared for your new LB life and these girls can whip that into shape for you. Good luck, work hard at it and you will see the results in no time. Karen:biggrin:

This is the day that I have dreaded. My "mom" who I've talked about was out and about with friends, lost her balance and fell on some marble steps. She lived for a couple of hours and passed away. I was 65 miles away at the time when I got the call about her accident. She lived 40 minutes after I got there. She just got done with her last chemo treatment on Monday and was sooooooooooo happy to be getting out with friends for coffee. I will be MIA for a few days. Funeral Monday. She was a person that set the example of how we should all live our lives. She was kind to all, ready for a party at any given moment, and gave more of herself than anyone I have ever known. She always had a kiss for you and it was right on the mouth. Her hugs were the best and everyone got one and she never said goodbye without an "I love you". Just wanted to let you guys know what's up. My heart is broken.

 Hi...I was the person that you emailed earlier today. Happy you came back to this thread. Try not to be frustrated. I do think that you need to get some info from your clinic as far as fills and not just a "form letter" and no other communication from them. There is no such thing as a silly question as far as any of us are concerned. So...ask away !

Thanks for the info on the vertigo, Laura. Oops...see that I have been spelling it with a (d). This is managable. Had it two years ago where it was not. Was in Feb and DS and DH were on a business trip for a week. Me and the dog. Took everything I had to get out of bed to let the dog out and then I would vomit because of moving. We think we figured out why I got it that time. Stayed at the Hilton in Daytona Beach for two weeks. Me and oldes DS sat on the patio looking at the ocean every morning for coffee and would threaten DH that we were going on the ride right on the beach. Each night we would watch as ppl would get flung 360 feet in the air in a sling shot ride. DH kept telling me I shouldn't do it. Well.....if you know me well enough you would know that he said the wrong thing. DS and I took a ride. Was great....DS was scared. Kept saying over and over "Holy Sh_t". I kept saying..."Let's do it again". Got it on CD and everything. Was a great ride but boy did it affect me a month later. Not worth it. That time the vertigo lasted almost six months off and on. Really, really bad for a full two weeks with me in bed. One of the reasons I have not gone to doc is because they always want to do CAT and I KNOW it's sinus related. Had leftover dizzy pills and just taking them now and then. I know, shouldn't save pills but I did. Laura, if you cannot reach me at home on Friday, call my cell. I do not mind sharing a room. Prefer my own but would share.

I did something different this year for Halloween treats. We don't have a lot of kiddies stop in but a few special ones. They are my lake sweeties and they come to Auntie Karen's for their treats. Some travel a ways. I fill a bag of goodies for each. Coloring books, story books, candy necklace, stuffed toy, 100 cal crackers, 100 cal popcorn, 100 cal oreas, etc. For the rest of the kids that stop in, I fill a basket with 100 cal treats but not candy. I put the basket out a few weeks ago and the guys grab when they walk back. No candy bars and I think they appreciate not eating crap. I will most likely continue to do this. There's something about that label saying "100 calories" that makes you stay on track and just eat one. Happy to here your fam made it safe and sound, Janet. I know what you mean about wanting your DS closer...my little guy lives out in Atlanta and I miss him terribly. Will not see him til Christmas or a few weeks later. His choice to live out there and happy he is doing what he wants but what about momma?

Same thing here with dropping temps in the last few hours. Life in the Plains. DH has a few sisters that will not speak to each other. I used to try and convince him to be the peace maker. I am so happy he is a determined person and does not act on someone else's suggestion. He stayed the heck out of the middle of it and I think he was very wise to do so. He didn't need to be drug along in their petty squabble...just what it was. Over something so silly and they still don't speak. Now he just goes both ways and stays away from even listening to what they don't like about each other. Works so nice.

Forgive Me Lap Band Goddess
Apples2 replied to cruzlady's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Much worse things that you COULD have eaten. As others have said, don't beat yourself about it. Use it as a learning experience. Was the guilt worth it? Probably not or you would not have posted about it. Does the LB Goddess forgive? I think so. She loves all her children. -
Phyll, when I had my veins stripped in 1988, I had the same thing with my heel. I don't know if it was the way they manipulated it during surgery or is it was where they cut me low on that ankle. Took me about 8 yrs to get the full feeling back. Weird. If often wish I had video footage of what ACTUALLY took place while I was under with each of my surgeries. Or, maybe I DON'T want to know!

Yep, on the pan size. The dessert is not very thick. You can double the pumkin part of the recipe but I like it the way it is. Not too much but just enough. We have had snow but all melted now. I think the most we got at one time was a couple of weeks ago and was 2 inches. Don't like the heavy wet stuff either. That's when our lines go down. Not fun.

what else can i drink
Apples2 replied to SkinnyOompa's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Now that it is chilly, I drink mostly hot drinks. I buy Alpine Spiced Cider mix and Walmart. 15 cals. I do mix with 16oz of boiling water instead of 8. Do not like things too sweet. Also, Swiss Miss or Nestles hot cocoa mix. I use 16oz prepared coffee, the mix and 1 tbls of Divinvi or Torini SF syrup...caramel or hazelnut. -
LauraK...I have one that sounds similar that is made in a baking dish with cut up tortilla shells. It's kind of like and enchillada hotdish but not rolled up. It is good and hearty. I cannot handle any sort of tortilla shell that is soft. (or dumplings, or bread, or noodles).

My family shys away from walnuts and pecans. I LOVE them in any recipe and am sure they would compliment this one. Forgot to mention...top with whipping cream or FF Cool Whip and sprinkle with cinnamon...could also just sprinkle with the chopped pecans. Don't worry if the 1/2 box of cake mix does not totally cover the bottom of the pan. Just make sure to spray it. The entire box makes too thick of a crust and is overbearing and too rich.

I have a pumpkin recipe for a dessert. Use it if you want...just a suggestion. 1/2 yellow or butter cake mix (save the rest to make dessert another time) 1/2 stick real butter Melt butter and mix with cake mix. Spread all but about 1/2 cup in bottom of cake pan. 1 can pumkin 2 large eggs (3 if small) 1/2 tsp nutmeg 1/2 tsp ginger 1/2 tsp cinnimon 1 can sweetened condensed milk Pour over crust and top with remaining sprinkles. Bake in 350 degree oven for about 30 minutes or until set.
