OK, Meredith, time to check in...missing you!

French silk pie is VERY rich. Tastes almost like brownie batter in a crust. Made with butter, eggs, chocolate. Never been a fan of it. I have always had an aversion to anything rich. Good to hear you plan to get out and walk. It's gotta be better for the knee to not have it in the same position for that many hours. You guys have a safe trip. A lot of traffic on our highways this week. (That goes for anyone else traveling also).

Great..for sure a couple of apple pies, a couple of pumpkin, a pecan and maybe a couple french silk. How far of a drive is it for you? I'm thinking about 9-10 hours to SD for you? Looking forward to Saturday. See you then!

Hey Mellisa...good hear from you and that you are hanging in there. Good luck with the TG Day dinner. I and mom's DIL are going halvsies on the dinner. Since we both farm and we figure all our guys will be harvesting corn, we will do it together. Always nice holiday at their home. I am the pies (I'm thinking at least 5-6 pies), potatoes and salad...and a bread of some sort.

Great photos, Pretty Ladies all in a row!

Wow Phyll...those necklaces are really pretty. I've been thinking of getting into beading as a relaxing project when I tire of needle work and reading...just for something different. Will have to check into our community ed classes to see if one if offered this semester. Yours are so different than others I've seen. While cleaning out mom's apt. I found a couple of bracelets that her neighbor lady made her. I was wondering what kind of wire it was made of...maybe the same as yours????

Not sure if you are asking me or Atgoalgal. I did not get a PM from you. Just go ahead and ask your questions here on this thread. -

Linda...nice to see your post. We were posting about the same time. Oh, would have been nice if you could have met up with Lori and I. I never thought it would be that far for you. Great photos. Your GD is sooooooooooo cute. Good to get her into the exercise early. I had a friend that has had both hips done. Each a year apart. She was in her late 30's at the time. (She beat herself up exercising, running, playing racketball). I know she was younger but she says it was a breeze. I also have another friend that is going in a couple of weeks to get his second done. He cannot wait for that pain to be gone. Just do as your doc says and you will have good results. Did your SD ever have the gallbladder function test done? Not just ultrasound. I suffered for 10 years and kept getting negative results. Doc would not listen to me. (Nothing worse for a doc's ego than a patient that self-diagnoes). I insisted on the test and showed it was only functioning 11%...surgery the next day. Botched surgery and spent 5 weeks in hospital. Just something to check out if it has not already been done. Gotta go.

Well, got home from apt and saw a combine in the yard with a corn head on it. Maybe corn harvest will happen after all. Spent the day shrink wrapping furniture. Tomorrow and Monday furniture is being moved and all the boxes. Tuesday or Wed is cleaning day and then we are done. It's been a huge project and I can finally say that tonight I am SHOT. Been very careful to get extra calories in as to not lose any more than I have during these physically stressful weeks. Lori and I are pretty much set for our meeting next Saturday. You all say a special prayer that our roads are good so this meeting will take place. (Please). Julie...did you injure that shoulder at some point? Or did you have a job that you repetitively used it? I am happy to hear that they let up on the PT for now. I feel so bad for you and PLEASE do not stop posting. We can take whatever you have to vent about. Lord knows we ALL do enough of it, and, do you hear anyone complaining? Nope! Hope you get some of that much needed sleep. Just thought I would check in b/4 my guys get in from tiling in a mud hole. They will be hungry, muddy and tired. My poor entry way. Baked ham, garlic potatoes, sweet corn, pepperoni corn bread and two different kinds of bars for supper. Not at all band friendly food but I am sure they spent some calories today. DH has taken off about 10lbs in the last two weeks without trying. Gotta get the table set. Hope you girls are having a great time together. How was my foo foo drink?????

Janet...send that kid to my house...I'll let him use my airline miles and even consider first class! I'm happy that you feel happy. Sleep tight everybody.

Cheri...Long John Silver has a grilled salmon that isn't too bad. I do not like to waste money on things I cannot eat either. Great...your GM sounds so cute and so fun. How many 100yr olds get out and really want to do it. You go Granny! LauraK...cograts on raising an independent daughter and for teaching her that she has all kinds of options even though she is hearing impaired. Melissa...How ya doing? A better week this week? Hope you were able to turn that bus around and get back to your better eating habits. No fun to hit that wall. Meredith and Julie, someone scare you away? Missing you. Well, was a busy day and ready to follow DH down the hall to the bedroom. Told him to give me 5 cuz wanted to check in with my "girls". Did apt...packing glass from curio cabinets, went to wake for young many 36 who died of a heart attack (by no means was obese) and then heading home and thinking I would hop in bed early. Got the bug to do some cooking and lunch packing for tomorrow since I will be at the apt. again for the entire day. Feels good to have it done. Oh yeah, replaced my lost diamond bracelet...it's on my finger. Typing is going slow....I keep looking at it. Had it sized. Told clerk I wear a 4 on left hand and a 4.5 on right. Told her twice....she had the jeweler do 5.5. Cuz you don't want them too tight, ya know. Darn her. It won't stay on my finger so now a trip back to get sized AGAIN. Waste of my time and just wish ppl would listen and do what a customer wants. Anyway, beautiful ring I picked out....if I do say so myself. I am going to ask for the $$ back that they charged me for sizing. It will be at least that if not more for gas spent going back and forth for the second time. What happened to the days when you bought something and things like that were included. OK...enough complaining. I need to breathe deep and think peaceful thoughts b/4 bed or I'll be dreaming dreaded things in technicolor. Hey Laura...hope things are going OK. Got my days mixed up and thought the "shopping expedition" was today. Have fun girls! Wish I was there with ya. Have a foo foo drink for me...

It's Allie's turn for plastics!
Apples2 replied to allielee's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Thanks for the update, Danny. Think of you, Allie, and these next few weeks as you recover. It will all be worth it in the end. You were a beautiful woman the way you were...but...a little more icing on the cake can only make it better. Take care and you are in my prayers for a speedy, painless (ya, right) recovery. -
Have a great time, Eva. Drive safe, load the trunk up with "useless sh_t" as my DH would call it. Hey...I've always been going to tell you girls about a scent that I like and Janet talking about little shops brought it back to me. When DH and I were in St. Augustine last year we came across this little shop that has soaps, candles, candies, etc. They had this body mist that is absolutely the best smelling in the WORLD. It's called Rain made by Terra Nova. All they had left the day we were there was their sample bottle and she wouldn't sell it to me. Went home and ordered on Amazon.com (for 1/2 the price). Anyway, it's the best. Makes me feel like a jungle goddess when I wear it!!!!!!!!!!:bored:

LauraK...I think your daughter would be a lot closer to Meredith in Michigan. It's also about an 8 hour drive for me..depending on her exact location. I love it up there. So beautiful. It's difficult having them that far away, isn't it? I handled the empty nest. I missed them but proud they were independent enough to get out and go. My youngest moved to Alaska at 18. Lived there for two years then onto Santa Barbara for a year, to Daytona Beach for 4 and now in Atlanta for 1 year as of today. He makes my head spin. Miss him but with the business he has, it has to be located in or near a larger city. Great did zumba for awhile. If I remember right, she enjoyed it. There are days I wish I could join a gym. Too far of a drive for me and I am very active so would most likely be a waste of my money. Glad you enjoyed it....half the battle when it comes to exercise. I thouroughly enjoy the tread mill. I have a Bose system and Bose head phones. Either listen to a book or sing to the top of my lungs. It keeps the guys out of my house!:bored:

If you go up to the top of the page and click on "User CP", when the page comes up, scroll down and you will see all your "Subscribed" threads (threads that you have posted in). Just click on the thread you want to visit and you will see the entire conversation. If it is a long thread you will want to click on "Last Page". As far as eating and drinking...you should really be making this a practice in your daily routine. You should be eating your "hard" proteins first and then and veggies or fruit that you can eat till you are full. Depends on what your doc's orders are on how much he wants you to eat at meals. Some say 1/2, some say 1cup. A typical meal for me once I was on solid foods was: 3oz of hard protein (chicken, tuna, fish, lean beef), then I might have a couple bites of veggies and that's all I could fit in....even b/4 my fills. Drinking while eating washes the food right through and you will not feel satisfied as long. Sorry to hear you had trouble with your first fill. Are you chewing your food reallly good? Not chewing or taking too big of bites can cause problems. Practice eating very slowing, set your fork down in between bites and chew, chew chew.

My intitial guess was Sean Penn, but, I think you may be the winner, Northern Mist

Good Mornin' Girls... Even earlier morning this morning. DH had hopped out of bed (happy and smiling) and said "Good Morning, Honey". I looked at the clock through my grogginess (with one eye) and it was 3:20am. Now, I AM a morning person but it's been 4am for a couple of weeks now. It's called "Making hay when the sun shines". To translate into what that means for us is "Cutting in fertilizer when it's frickin' cold". (Only way it works is well below freezing). Anyway, by 4am, coffee with DH was over, all the lunches were packed and ready to grab, a load of laundry done, dog fed and watered. Still need to plan supper in the crockpot cuz I will not be home later in the day. Heading back into apt. today for more packing and stacking. Sis is heading back home again today and need to be there to help. She was diagnosed with a not-so-good disease a year ago and stress and too much physical exersion can bring her out of remission and lots of discomfort. Also have a wake to fit in sometime later today. My friend's son (36) died of a heart attack. This family is also related to "mom's" family. Really sad. His mom is one of my neighbors at the lake. Janet...the steering in the right direction comment....it was just my tactful way of saying...."Watch out...I hear Janet coming"! Hoping you all have a good day. Can't remember if today is the "shopping" day. If it is, have fun and take a little slack out of the checkbook...you deserve it. Hope Earl does not get too bad of a case of "shopping mall bench butt".

Oh NO!!! Falling down the stairs is catching just like the dead battery virus that's been going around. Coconut....I think you are the third person in a couple of weeks to take a trip down some stairs. I did two weeks ago and was very lucky not to break anything. Came out of it with just a jambed wrist. It will be fine but still wakes me up at night. Are you OK? Anything broken? Good goin' on your eating and drinking habits. Be patient. You've just been through surgery. This part of the journey is for healing. We all know it's tough to stick to the certain food stages post-op but there is a reason for it. You doc wants you to heal properly. Are you weighing yourself every day? If so, try to avoid the scale for a bit. Give things some time, continue to follow doc's orders. I know it's tough but so worth it! Hope you heal quickly from your fall. Poor Girl!

So sorry you lost your mother and for all you are going through. You are making a step in the right direction in asking for help. Can you give us a little info on how you did to begin with after getting banded? Did you lose? Have you been seeing your regular doctor for your diabetes issues? Just jump in and ask any questions you might. We have a great group of people here and there's usually someone that will respond to your post. Janet (Indiogirl) started this thread many, many months ago and is a great help. She does not mince words and if you need a shove in the right direction, she'll steer you there. Welcome.
