OutsideMatchInside replied to cyndi990's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
St Vincents DePaul. http://www.svdpchicago.org/index.php/thrift-stores/chicago-thrift-store They randomly have very high end desginers. You never know when someone will go through a divorce and donate all their soon to be ex-husbands clothes... -
Help I went in for my initial consultation and wanted the Gastric Sleeve the doctor suggested the Duodenal switch surgery
OutsideMatchInside replied to BigJohn58's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
@@BigJohn58 I started with a BMI of 60 but I was 20 years younger than you and relatively active. The sleeve worked for me. However if I was older or if my sleeve stops working for me int he future. I would go with the DS. At your age and with your issues you need the weight off ASAP. I would go with the DS. -

What were your worst symptoms post-op?
OutsideMatchInside replied to KaiserKid's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Gas pain in the shoulder was the worst part of the whole thing. Oh and the useless morphine in the hospital, it cause more pain than it solved. -
Can eat 4oz with no problem!
OutsideMatchInside replied to mallnut's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@mallnut Basically anything that isn't a dense Protein. When you are eating meat, I seriously doubt you will be able to eat 4 ounces. 4 ounces is an expected amount to be able to eat according to my booklet, 2-4 ounces. Don't listen to all the people that talk that 2 bites BS. We have no idea what 2 bites is, and it is useless anecdotal information, not a scientific measurement. -

African American Sleevers
OutsideMatchInside replied to ATLGirl's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
@@blackgirlfat That gets better at least it did for me. I was cold the first 6 months. I am colder now than I was being larger but I am not freezing cold all the time. Part of that being cold like that is just because of the low amount of calories you are consuming. When you can eat more you aren't as cold. Just prepare for a cold cold winter. -
What do you miss or think you will miss about being obese?
OutsideMatchInside replied to 111's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Usually those sites have a size chart somewhere on them that relate say 1x to measurements.. Measure yourself and compare? Munky I take my measurements every week. Size charts are not accurate on almost any chart. Then if you lose and you are really squishy there are other issues. When you compound that with constantly losing, weekly. Buying clothes is a pain. I have so many cute things I have purchased and never even worn because I waited a week to wear them and they are too big. -
What do you miss or think you will miss about being obese?
OutsideMatchInside replied to 111's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
@ If you have real breast tissue, it won't go anywhere. I seriously doubt your H cup is all fat. I am still very busty, I just have a smaller band now. The day may come you wish they would shrivel up. I had to relearn how to sit. For a while my butt was hurting all the time, but since I learned how to sit again properly it is not an issue. I am vain so... I miss all the compliments I used to get when I was big. I have always been a makeup, hair, nails, dress to impress kind of chick. When I was fat people killed themselves to compliment me. Now women look me up and down, and don't say anything. Men however smile at me and well... I will just say I miss seeing more friendly to people. Now people are more afraid to approach me. Sometimes I miss being greedy and eating whatever. It is a really fleeting moment because I love my life now and I like how I eat, but yeah I miss pigging out on cheesecake and phillysteak sandwiches now and then. I miss being confident in how I looked. I wasn't a fat person that hated myself. I walked around naked all the time, and after sex. I would never walk around naked now. I don't even walk around naked in the house alone. The loose skin is really doing a number on me, even though I look good in clothes and looking better every day, I feel like a total fraud once I undress. @ Yeah I miss just being able to buy clothes without trying them on. I have to try everything on. Even using my measurements doesn't work with things because my waist is so small and my boobs and hips are so big. So I have to size up in dresses, size down in tops, and pants are ???? I have to try everything on. I used to buy clothes almost every single day online before surgery. I shopped all the time. Now I buy clothes once a month and only thing I plan on wearing within 2 weeks, because they won't fit in 3 or 4. I mean it is a good problem to have but I am glad I am getting closer to goal, because I am over it, so over it. -
Cost of plastics near Chicago/Midwest? Or how is travelling for multiple surgeries: LBL, BL, Brachioplasty
OutsideMatchInside replied to annagene12's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Yeah I know. That is why I am looking at Florida, because they have recovery houses and I would rather stay at a recovery house than depend on my friends or family. I don't want to be a burden or be that familiar with anyone. I do think for my arms I am going to spring for Dr Capella because he is a true artist. There are just more options for post-op care on the east coast than in the Midwest. -
When do taste buds return?

Before surgery diet ..
OutsideMatchInside replied to smiley1968's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@smiley1968 If your BMI is low and you don't have fatty liver disease you don't need a pre-op diet. So your sugeon is correct in just having you do the 24 clear liquid diet before surgery to clear you out for surgery. There are a lot of newer, successful Drs that believe the long per-op diet is counter productive and runs patients down prior to surgery. So enjoy that you don't have a pre-op diet and keep your strength up. Going into surgery weak seems counter productive. I was almost dizzy by the time I made it to the hospital. -

Did anyone else have an easy recovery? I'm getting downright paranoid....
OutsideMatchInside replied to ella37's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@ella37 Mine was very easy. People come into surgery with varying levels of health, and pain tolerance. Then add in some doctors are more skilled than others. People recover very differently. My recovery was easy, and I enjoyed it. -
