    Confession and suggestions?

soft white fish, shrimp, maybe crab (crab can be hard to digest). What are your food stages? I hate Beans and eggs are a toss up on making me sick or not so I rarely eat them. What meat are you have issues with specifically?

    Thanksgiving

I had surgery in the summer, knowing that by the holidays I would be able to eat if I wanted to. What is funny is last year, I had more to eat than this year. I just wasn't in the mood to eat today and I have really been struggling lately with having an appetite. food is a huge part of the human experience, and Thanksgiving is a whole holiday that is basically just about being a glutton. So I understand why people are all in their feelings about it. I just skip the posts that people make complaining for the most part, unless I think I had some advice that might help them make it through. You have to consider the fact your mom made special stuff for you to support you. Most have families of assholes that don't do anything to help support them, and purposely rub in the fact they can't eat and make it as hard as possible on them. So be fortunate you have people that care about you enough to support you. Everyone doesn't have that.

I hate that I had this surgery

I will fully admit that I had an easy recovery but I want to add. You are never going to better until you are getting some nourishment. So you should sip on broth with unflavored Protein powder all day. You are always going to feel sick and ill until you get get over 600 calories a day. The longer you go without eating and the less you eat, the harder it is going to be to eat and the worse you are going to feel. You are just going to feel weaker each day. Drink protein that is a Water consistency all day. Options are broth with Protein Powder, Protein2O water, Syntrax nectars. Even someone with a stricture should be able to get down liquids that are of a watery consistency.

    Drinking after eating soup etc...

@@Ssze1109 Drinking after liquids doesn't matter. It does matter later drinking with solid food because you are pushing it through and limiting your time feeling full. Right after surgery you should be "eating" your liquids and drinking all the time.

Can't eat meat - when did you like meat again?

@@tenseintexas What kind of meat are you eating? I ate a lot of fish and seafood at first. I wasn't allowed steak until 6 months. I still rarely eat chicken because it is so dry there is always a chance it will get stuck. A lot of the meat that people eat in the beginning like tuna, are hard to process. If you like seafood. Soft white fish is your friend,

Gastric Bypass or Sleeve and Why?

@@olamae I looked at the long term results and decided maybe losing an extra 20 pounds with bypass was not worth having my intestines touched. The sleeve results are so close to RNY, I didn't think it was worth the malabsorption. I still get to be a normal person with just a smaller capacity.

@@marissela928 Tracking and weighing your food are the best tools for weight loss after your sleeve. They really help. I know it can be hard to track, but I use an app and I track while I'm eating. Tracking while eating also helps you eat slow.

I wouldn't bother with doing liquids. Liquids aren't going to satisfy you. Do a reset with dense Protein. Just meat. No carbs. 3-4 ounces of meat 4-5 times a day.

    361 Days Later: My Story

Now that I am under 200lbs, I wanted to add an update to this. I started with a BMI of 60 and now my BMI is 33 ish. I never really thought I would get this far. When I started I thought 250 ish was the best I would be able to do. I am not even 18 months and I have lost 171 pounds from my highest weight. I wasn't really prepared for all the changes massive weight loss brings and I am not sure anyone can be.I knew I was going to have to part with my clothes, but I wasn't really prepared for it. I love clothes, I had to part with all my clothes and all my shoes, even the awesome stuff, that hurt. I keep buying cute things, only to lose and they don't fit anymore. Jeans only last me 2-6 weeks in the past year. Even if I don't go down a size, my shape changes and I have to buy a different cut/style. I know all the jean brands. I buy things and some of the time I am lucky to wear them one time. I have lost 2 shoe sizes, and some of the shoes I bought earlier this year are too big I used to wear a 28/30 and now I wear a 10 in expensive clothes, and a 12/14 in cheap clothes. I wear medium tops, large if they don't have stretch because boobs. I used to be a 50DD and now I am a 36DDD/F/G depending on the bra. My waist is a 31 down from 66, my hips are 43 down from 70. I am very squishy. I have a lot of loose skin. I was over 300 pounds for almost 20 years. Even though I am not that old, carry that weight too a toll on my body and I never had great skin elasticity anyway. Lots of stretch marks from an early age, just from growing not being fat. I won't lie, I am having a hard time adjusting to my new body even though I love it. It is a major change. I love all the energy, I love all the things I can do. I hate the skin. I love/hate having to buy new clothes all the time. And even though I hate the skin, it is totally worth it. I would still rather have this skin than be 370 pounds. I continue to eat the same way, and I enjoy how I eat so I don't see that changing. At this point I am physically small enough for my tastes pre plastic surgery. I am still hoping to lose a little more, so I am at a good BMI for surgery, but I'm happy with my size. I love my sleeve and how it helped me get a handle on my eating and because the person I always knew I could be.

    Quest Chips

I like the salt and vinegar. I will admit they are something that I eat when I am absolutely starving. They are good to have in the car and just eat in an emergency. Also when I tried them last year fresh after surgery, they didn't taste good. A year into eating healthy, and guess what they taste pretty decent.
  18. BCBS from what state bcbs of tx for example is 6 months of prior documented treatment. or at least was almost 2 years ago BCBSIL Also almost all insurance has changed, if you are super morbidly obese like I was, with a BMI of 60, there is no waiting period. Someone with that BMI is basically never going to lose weight on their own and insurance companies know it. There was a cost benefit analysis in the insurance industry that showed the benefits of bariatric surgery to their bottom line.

    Bypass or sleeve?

Bypass people regain. I think they depend on Malabsorption too much, and when it is gone in 18 months or so, they start gaining. The surgery you have doesn't matter, you have to make a lifestyle change

Just wait and see what happens. Lots aren't going to protect you in this sense. The hair falls out from the root, not from breakage. You might not lose any hair, just wait and see.

@@11072016 I did a lot of broth and unflavored Protein. I am not a sweets person.

    And then, this happened...

I want to lose more weight so I am at a healthy BMI but physically I am small enough as is. If I ever get my skin removed, I will lose a size or 2. I was morbidly obese in the super category for a long time. That has changed my body forever and my muscle. I am smaller now at a higher weight than I was in college. That is because of my muscle density. So you might not need to lose more pounds. You can lose inches working out/surgery. As weird as losing a lot of weight is for us, it is just as weird to the people around us and I think we forget it. I'm half the person I used to be, almost literally, and that is a lot for me to handle and other people also.
