INCHES OR WEIGHT?
OutsideMatchInside replied to sassy683's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Both at the same time. Then with stalls, during a stall I lose inches. Which is why people should take their measurements every week, or at least once a month. Weight, stall, inches, weight. Rinse and repeat that has been the pattern the whole time. I wouldn't know that if I didn't track. Tracking helps you not panic because you understand what is going on. -
Cannot lose no matter how hard I try!!
OutsideMatchInside replied to yeshello's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I have made them with Jicama and turnips, it isn't the same. I have been a low carber off and on for 17 years. I hate sweet potatoes and they aren't low carb. At this point I can have 5 fries and stop. I'm not really actively trying to lose at this point. Thanks for the suggestion though. IMO there is a substitution for everything, but french fries. -
7 days post op: horrible night -chills, anxiety, fast heart rate

Please contact your Dr ASAP. Some of it might be reactive hypoglycemia, or it could be worse but a Dr needs to be notified and you should be seen. -
THOUGHT THIS SITE/APP WAS FOR SUPPORT?!!!!
OutsideMatchInside replied to sassy683's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just block people. My block list is a mile long. I don't care. These people are just fonts on screen, you don't have to deal with them unless you want to. There are too many people who are genuinely trying to connect and seek support to bother with the crazies on here. -
That isn't true for everyone. My RMR is over 1900 and I still lose easily on 1400 calories a day, I can lose on as high as 1600-1700. I maintain on well over 2000 calories a day. When you are super morbidly obese for a long time, BMI over 50, you body builds more muscle as it adapts to carry the weight. I have more muscle mass than most grown men, which is how I look so physically small even though my weight is high. My bones are 3x denser than the average person my age, from carrying all the weight. All of this is information from my DEXA scans and RMR tests, not just something I am pulling out of a hat. She can still lose on not starvation calories, her weight is still up there, her RMR is probably still over 2000. She also just had major surgery, plastics, and is being too hard on herself. She can keep losing as is, everyone stalls. I have stalled for a month before then lost 10 pounds in a week, it happens. @Dashofpixiedust8 is right on track. It is just that when you start so high it takes longer and there are more stalls. This is a marathon not a Sprint. She has this.

They totally rock. -
This morning I went walking on a trail near my house. 2 years ago walking that trail used to wear me out. Now it is effortless.

Is this bad? I'm scared.
OutsideMatchInside replied to Sleeved in DFW :-)'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yougurt is just a denser liquid, when you eat it is going to basically be a slider and go right through your stomach. If 5 ounces is a serving. I don't see an issue. However, you should be measuring out your portions and only eating your portions. You can't overeat if you aren't over served to begin with. -
Are protein shakes a meal or a drink?
OutsideMatchInside replied to imthefatbitch's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I didn't count them as meal that early out. It is too hard to get your fluids in and they are just a liquid. It isn't like they sit on your stomach anyway. Never followed the 30 minutes before and after with them, and was never told to. They are liquids, not meals for my program. -
Trying on smaller sizes
OutsideMatchInside replied to SIPS in Seattle's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
@sassy683 Oh totally. I wear regular over the knee/thigh high boots in a size 10. I used to have to buy 12W and I could only special order boots or get them from like Torrid of Avenue. I can stick my hands on either side of my calves with wide calf boots on now, they are just massive, gave all of those away too. I can buy shoes anywhere and now I am collecting designer shoes. I am going to have a blast in Nordstrom, Saks and Neimans this fall. -
Trying on smaller sizes
OutsideMatchInside replied to SIPS in Seattle's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Don't buy too many shoes or get too attached. I purchased a lot of shoes last year thinking my feet had bottomed out and I would lost anymore and I lost another size. I went from a 12W to a 10 almost need a narrow. My feet are long and thin, lol. I never thought I would get smaller than an 11, I gave away a ton of heels this year. -
I haven't seen you post in a while! Glad you are doing well.

Cannot lose no matter how hard I try!!
OutsideMatchInside replied to yeshello's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
If you low carb, then eat carbs. Your liver gains glycogen/water weight and you can go up 2-10 pounds over a weekend just eating carbs. If you are steadying intaking carbs, then you weight will remain steady. The weight gain after eating carbs following a low carb diet is not true fat gain, at least not initially. You just have to make a lifestyle change, it has to be a lifestyle not a diet. You don't cheat with a lifestyle change. It is hard for everyone. You can get a burger without the bun at a fast food resturant, make them wrap it in lettuce. Fries are my weekness, there is no low carb substitute, but you just have to decided if fries are worth being fat. Good luck! -
I've tried everything.

Stop going to the gym and walk outside an hour a day. Your calorie deficit is probably too high. I lost my weight never going to the gym. Walking, yoga, light weights at home. -

My sleeve is too big
OutsideMatchInside replied to Walter.Sobchak's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
@Walter.Sobchak It isn't too big. You are binge eating on sliders/liquids. Do you have a therapist? You really need to work on the root cause of your food addiction. There is no way to make a sleeve small enough to combat food addiction. -
Improvement in cracked heels!
OutsideMatchInside replied to Berry78's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I did not have cracked heels but my feet were rough and I would get a thick callous on the pad of my feet. My feet stay almost baby soft now. Keto overall made my skon great but the feet is just because they are now carrying around an entire extra person all day. -
Can't decide between Sleeve and By-Pass
OutsideMatchInside replied to Doo Lally's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I discussed it with my Dr and we decided since I was young and active the Sleeve would work for me. I also didn't want a long term high maintenance surgery. Long term the sleeve has pretty low maintenance levels compared to other surgeries. as long as you don't have GERD. If you have GERD, RNY is your only option really, it isn't worth having the sleeve and risking a revision later on. -
WLS and Rapid Cycling Bipolar Disorder
OutsideMatchInside replied to AGreenEyedWolf's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I know when you are bi-polar with manic phases impulse control is really hard. I have a friend that suffers from bi-polar and when she is in a manic episode she is impossible to reason with. The best thing you can do is have good options available because I am not really sure you can fight the urges in a manic episode. Replace everything with sugar free and protein options. Like I have chocolate when I am on my period but it is sweetened with Stevia, hard to get and not cheap. That prevents me from eating too much but also, even if I eat a whole bar, it is not the end of the world (I don't I eat a proper serving). You just have to learn to work with yourself and your limitations instead of against them. Also with a BMI of 29, if that is accurate. Every pound you lose at this point is going to be a hard one. that is just how it goes the close you are to a normal BMI. -
Lipstick Lipgloss Highlighter Earrings Necklaces Cheap Party Dresses Cheap shapewear Wigs The $8-15 I would spend eating out or having a snack (starbucks coffee + pastry) I used on clothes, makeup and jewelry. Those are my treats. I know some people do manicures and pedicures, that was part of my normal routine pre-op so that wouldn't be a treat to me.

Why do protein drinks taste awful?
OutsideMatchInside replied to Véronique's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
No one uses Syntrax Nectar anymore? There are so many flavors and even the bad ones aren't nasty tasting. http://www.si03.com/nectar.php Isopure is gross, actually almost everything OP listed is gross. Carnation is nutritional trash basically. I like protein shakes before surgery and they still taste the same to me. I don't dislike the taste. However the idea of just drinking calories makes me miserable. -
Low Blood Pressure Post-Op? Anyone?
OutsideMatchInside replied to XYZXYZXYZ1955's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Please talk to your Dr about reducing or ending your medicine. It needs to be monitored carefully. I'm surprised they still have you on meds for it. -
Honestly I am never physically hungry unless I have gone over 16 hours without eating. I eat at the times I am supposed to. I especially had no appetite at all the first 6 months, mainly because food was still a scary thought. Sometimes eating would cause discomfort and I was still afraid of complications. How you are feeling is normal.

4 oz lite yogurt today
OutsideMatchInside replied to dreamynow's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Food addicts never feel full though, or they feel full past the comfort level. Most Drs don't say eat until you are full, by the time you feel "full" with a sleeve, you have over ate. They say to eat your measured portions. -
Muscle does not weigh more than fat. A pound is a pound, it is an absolute scientific measurement. Muscle is leaner and denser than fat.
