  1. @@higher I had to finally break down and hit the thrift stores. I needed a winter coat and I didn't want to spend $400 at J Crew knowing it would be too big next year. I went to a high end thrift store and got a vintage coat with a real fur collar for $10. I could never fit vintage clothes before and the fact I can now is a real thrill. I hate the idea of wearing used clothes but a winter coat was a must. I also found a brand new wool coat on ebay for $24. PM and I will tell you the eBay store.

    Pet peeve: extra skin.

@@JupiterinVirgo As a person that has lost over 170 lbs and has to deal with skin every day. You are really ignorant as to what living with excess skin is like. My need to remove skin is not just vanity. The skin I have is painful. If I don't clean my belly button very carefully multiple times a day it gets infected. Skin is something worth worry about. I spend a lot of money on shapewear to hold it in so it doesn't hurt when I move. I have to be careful and spend a lot of $$$$ buying bras so they work with my skin issues. I have to deal with balancing wearing shapewear all the time and not ending up with constant yeast infections. Vanity come dead last in my concerns about my skin. I wish I had thought about the skin issues and considered them long before I let myself sit at over 300 pounds for half my life but now I am paying the price. It isn't a frivolous concern, the health benefits far out weigh the skin issues but there still are skin issues and they are serious issues. Next time post your rants, in rants.

Need advice on calories- 8 months out

@@mismis19 STL Metro area I'm not sure exactly how they did theirs. I have mine done at a University and I usually have a DEXA and a RMR test done at the same time. I lost a lot eat 1200-1400 calories, with each day varying. If your weight is accurate and you are active you should still lose a lot on those calories. I don't think calories are your issue though, carbs are. Cut the carbs and the pounds will fall off. The only carbs you should have are from green veggies.
  9. I don't exactly have the same issues that you have, but I have gone through a lot of changes in the past 2 years and over the past couple months I have been going through an existential crisis of sorts. I am having some difficulties with adjusting to how people treat me. I always thought I was pretty, so I feel the same about myself for the most part, but people treat me very differently. I was in denial about this for a while but recently the last 10-15 pounds I can't be in denial about how people treat me anymore. Women aren't as nice to me (which is bothersome), men are nicer. It is like yeah, you know everyone is superficial and looks matter but it is another thing for it to slap you in the face, all the time.

Need advice on calories- 8 months out

Everyone is going to tell you different stuff so you are going to have to decide. I was eating 1100 to 1200 calories at that point, but my carbs are never above 25, sometimes on special days I hit 35. If you had a DEXA scan, base your Protein needs off your lean mass. Also if you had a DEXA and you have a legit RMR, believe it. Eat as close to it as possible that you can and you will lose, even if you can't hit 1400 most days, try to hit it once of twice a week it helps, at least it helped me. Around a gram of protein to a lb of lean mass. Last DEXA scan I had I had 133 lbs of lean mass (I am over due for another), and my protein goals are 100-120 a day. By eating more protein, you have less room for carbs. Protein, dense meat, grilled/baked/pan fried is lower in calories than carbs.

Exactly! I eat normal for a health conscious person. I eat proper portion sizes, which isn't usually what people are served. I have no issues with leaving food on my plate. I eat the way people are supposed to eat, not how people are eating.

@@cuteNATL It is totally just because I eat more. Period. Eat and drink more. The further you get out and the more you can eat the more it gets like normal. All you people 2 and 3 weeks out are still on liquids or purees. Wait until you start eating dense Protein.

How Often Do You Have Bowel Movements?

Early on it was every 3 or 4 days, I won't let it go longer than that. Now at almost 1.5 years it is every or every other day, depending on how much fluids I get in.

Eating normal as in pre surgery normal

@@Dysruption People eat around their sleeve by eating get sliders and trash food. Also by grazing. Almost no one is regaining by pounding down steak or grilled chicken breasts. They start eating carbs and go full bender on them. Then add in drinking calories and yeah it's easy to slide right into regain. I'll probably never have a 12 or 16 ounces steak again but no one should be eating that much steak at one sitting so the fact I can eat a normal portion is fine.

    Stalls-Please share your experiences

Your questions are long and over thinking something that is pretty simple. Most long term successful people don't care about stalls and don't focus on them, so expect a lot of newbie responses that are going to be basically useless. My weight loss has gone in different stages. At first I lost every day or every other day. Besides the 3 week stall, no stalls until 5 months. I stall at significant numbers. My body is trying to defend it's set point, eventually as long as I keep doing the same thing, my body has to give up and lose. I was over 300 pounds for 18 years. When I got under 300 I stalled in the 290s gaining and losing for a month. Then boom huge weight loss and I was basically 275 in a couple weeks. Then at 250ish I stalled out and kept gaining and losing then I was 240. Same at 230. I was stuck at 220 for 2 months and I maybe it was over, then I lost 12 pounds in a week. Then I slowly lost 10 pounds over like 4 weeks. Now I am stuck at 199. I know it is a stupid pointless stall and I expect when it is over to wake up 195 or 194 or something one day. Because I am still shrinking. I lost like 5 inches totally off my upper torso in 2 weeks but stayed the same weight so I know the weight is coming off. Stalls for me, mean losing inches, lots of inches. I used to stress about them but by the 9 month mark I realized how they worked and I don't care that much any more. It is just an annoyance. Now I also stall a lot because I do not take any kind of hormonal birth control. I have a non hormonal IUD. For most of 2016, I have had a period every 2 to 3 weeks so those make up a lot of my stalls. Weighing myself everyday at the exact same time (wake up, urinate, weigh) has allowed me to better understand my weight fluctuations. At 16 almost 17 months, I don't care about stalls. If you want to properly track your loss measure every week and track it in a spreadsheet along with the scale. I am also a big fan of regular quarterly DEXA scans. I broke a stall this summer playing pokemon. I walked 20 miles in like a 48 hour time period and broke a stall. That was accidental not on purpose. When I got tired of being stuck at 220, I did a fat fast to drop weight. I eat Keto normally, and a fat fast is something people on keto do to break a stall. If I stay at 199 another week, I might try it again. The only reason I want to rush a drop is because I want to have plastics late summer, early fall and I need to get to a 30/31 bmi and hold it ASAP.
