Protein vs Calories what's too much

You don't need Protein at this point to build muscle. Morbidly obese people have a lot of muscle to carry the extra weight. You keep your protein up to keep you satisfied and to keep the muscle you have. Also protein won't turn to fat as easily as carbs. Because I also workout pretty often I try to aim for higher protein to also build up my muscle mass the fair life milk has 13grams and 1 scoop of my protein powder is 30 grams alone so one shake with nothing extra added would be 43grams 30 minimum if i substitute the milk for Water. However you are right I do need to do better at spacing them out. Thank you for your input

Protein vs Calories what's too much

You have to space your eating out. And do it all through the day. I would never blow 380 calories on a Protein shake. I would just make my shakes with Water only. And also really you should be eating every 2 to 3 hours to get your calories in. Piling them all in at one meal is not going to work for you long term.

    All things cheese

I eat all the cheese I want as long as it is real cheese (no fake cheese BS like American or Provel) and it is full fat. Low fat cheese has carbs and more fillers. I like the extra then cheddar slices for my burgers. One slice is 50 calories and it adds just enough cheese. And I eat a lot cream cheese. I make low carb cream cheese pancakes and I have cream cheese as deserts/snacks.

    Should I be upset?

Why torture yourself going out to when you can't eat? I didn't go to resturants with people until I could eat something. We make our own luck in life. Do not make your life harder than it has to be.

Why do so many people like "my 600 pound life" ?

It makes people feel better to see people worse off than they are. I don't like the Doctor. I also really don't like watching people that poor. They are almost always in abusive dysfunctional relationships. I like fat doctor UK better. The whole thing is sad.

This does not seem like normal loss!

If you started at 192 and you lost 10 lbs that is around 5% of your body weight. Low BMI people are not going to drop 30 lbs in the first 6 weeks. These posts are getting more and more ridiculous

    Food Cost

It depends a lot on where you live, what you like to eat and where you shop. I eat about a pound of dense Protein a day, at 18 months. What that protein is and how much it costs varies based not what I want and what is available. Early on you need to budget for Protein shakes. Just don't buy too much at once. Buy as you go. Stocking up is a waste of money.

You know you lost weight when

Control top tights a day pantyhose actually offer some control! I always thought they never worked, but they work with limitations, lol. Like not being a whale to start with?
  10. I am wearing a body on dress with just control top tights and a bra today. Not being stuffed into shapewear and still looking sleek is huge deal for me!

Awesome! Feeling good about yourself is such a confidence booster. Nothing, absolutely nothing is as sexy as confidence.

@ShelterDog64 I usually do also but today I put my dress on then the tights. I was going to put shapewear on over it, but I realized I looked okay. I was really surprised. I need new shapewear anyway. It is all 2 sizes 2 big right now.

  11. I'm talking about real food addicts. There are people that post here eat fried chicken with mashed potatoes and gravy their first week home. There is no hope for those people. If they are willing to ignore the pain and potential death of eating real food that early post-op, they are beyond helping. I'm not talking about the person that has a hard time walking past the donuts in the office break room. Read here long enough and you will see some truly amazing things. Wow. No cure for addiction does not mean no life absent our triggers. I know so many wonderful people living in recovery, including my mother with 21 years sobriety. I am expecting to struggle with certain trigger foods (chocolate and baked goods for me) all my life. Avoiding them works best for me now, and very likely after the sleeve too. The vast majority of us food addicts have successfully abstained many times. And eventually returned to these foods and/or beverages. I love the original post on N this thread. Thank you for the compassionate and clear reminder. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

    Chili? ( one week post-op)

You can have whatever spices you want as long as you aren't having Gerd issues.

5 oz of protein OR 10 cookies

Whoa. I couldn't eat 10 Cookies now. I definitely couldn't eat them that early. And I dumped at that point. I don't dump now. And I dumped after eating get out and the chicken salad have sugar in it. If you can eat like this, this soon post-op you are in real danger. Please find a therapist and work on your food issues.

    Bariatric Eating

I have been able to eat like that for a while. Probably since month 9 definitely at month 12. A lot of the things that people worry about like very small capacity are for a very limited time like the first 6 months, unless you have some other issues going on.

    Scared of Parties!

Don't go. At 3 weeks it isn't worth it. Rest.

    STARTING FROM ZERO ... TODAY

I guess you guys don't read all the posts on the forum. There are lots of people with 30 and 31 BMI that get sleeved in Mexico.

    Ounces ?

@@bodyslmmn I use a kitchen scale. I started with 2 ounces and worked my way up to the 4-5 ounce range.
  20. We will see if you still feel like this next December. I like to think there are people who just read and absorb, and don't get into the fray. I'm writing mostly for them. And from now on when this kind of post gets made, I'll link back to this one as my only comment and move along. LOL. sent from mobile device

Does "comfortably full" no longer exist?

I don't have RNY I'm a sleever bu6 I never get comfort from being full now if I get full it is painful and uncomfortable. I'm almost 18 month post op.
  22. I'm glad you posted this but it is an absolute waste. It is like walking into a heroine den and talking to people about being clean. The people that are food addicts are lost causes, nothing is going to stop them from self harm.

    Bariatric Eating

That's great, I don't see anymore food on the plate, eating just that and being full...boy oh boy...Nice. How long Post-op? Sent from my 5056N using the BariatricPal App Just a couple weeks short of 18 months. If eat my veggies as Snacks between meals. I have 3 cups of salad greens (baby spinach or European mix) for my afternoon snack. I don't have room for Protein and veggies at the same time and protein goals are the most important to me.

After the Honeymoon Phase is Over...

Set point is so important and Matthew Weiner has a few videos on it on you tube. Lowering your set point and resetting it not only make weight loss easier, it also makes defending. That weight easier. When you body has a new set point it tries to stay there. The set point is why people can stay the same weight for years. Their body wants to be the there and will resist losing or gain weight to stay in this range. Resetting it and getting it as low as possible helps with preventing regain. It is more complicated than I can explain in a forum post while I'm at work but it is worth researching since it seems like most WLS patients don't understand it at all.

After the Honeymoon Phase is Over...

A lot of doctors say that changing your set point is a one time chance and a few studies prove it. That is why people should go as low as possible as soon ss possible. Most of the people that regain never got to goal in the first place. Anyone can lose weight at any time but it is never going to be as easy as it is immediately post op. People should stop squandering that chance.
