    Best Weight Chart

My goal has been to get under 30 BMI. Physically I am pretty small, if I got down to the 150 range which is top for most women in our height range, I would be like a size 2 maybe even a 0. I'm almost and sometimes an 8 right now and I am upper 180s lower 190s. I really don't want to be smaller than a 6. I still have pounds of loose skin. If that was all gone right now I would be a 6 now. Even though BMI is BS and very skewed, it is the standard. My goal is to be at the top end of a normal BMI, even though I really do not want to be that small. I'll just be boobs and hair (breasts are not disappearing the more I lose the bigger they seem).

    Bariatric tools?

Nope. I don't use any of that. I purchased some very nice flatware and dishes before I considered surgery. I use those. Almost 2 years later I am happy with my choice. I find putting my smaller portions on normal size plates helps me better gauge what portions should look like. So when I am not at home it makes it easier to eye ball how much I should eat. The rest of the world isn't going to feed you on Bariatric plates or baby you. So I felt it was better to learn to adapt.
  3. I'm 5'5 and some change, almost 5 foot 6. I am around (keep bouncing) 190 ish and wear a 10 sometimes an 8, I'm dead in between sizes. At 130 I would be shopping in the kids dept or dead.

Sip Sip Sip ... Not Me !!

I had the same thing. They didn't say it was fast or slow. The said it was normal and since they were testing for leaks that is all they commented on, that there was no leak present. I was able to get all my fluids in, all my protein and I'm almost to goal without looking like skeletor and my face still looks great. There are a lot of perks to healing well. People that heal well don't complain as much as the people that are not healing well. Being able to just get a few bites in and barely drink is not supposed to be the intended outcome. My hospital won't even release you if you cannot eat and drink. I had to be able to drink several ounces of water and finish a protein shake (it was only 4 ounces) before I could be discharged. They don't release you so you can go home and starve. You are supposed to be able to eat and my practice wants you up to 1200 calories a day as soon as you can get there. People need to realize that being on low calories for an extended period of time means you will be stuck on them forever. Try maintaining for life on 800 calories a day. It is pure hell. There is a thead here am old and long one about regaining and a lady is stuck doing just that. Eating 800 calories a day forever or gaining. If you ruin your metabolism you will be worse off than when you started.

    Blood in toilet

Contact your Dr, go to the ER. Not normal.

Sip Sip Sip ... Not Me !!

If you ever have a live swallow test you can see that liquids move through your sleeve instantly. You can't stretch your sleeve or push the limits of it with liquids. The fact you can drink more just means you have less swelling than others and are healing better. If you are really concerned ask your Doctor. No one here including myself is really qualified to answer you.

    6 weeks & 800 calories already

800 calories sounds good. Try to hit 1000 with your carbs below 25. The sooner you can consume 1000 to 1200 calories, the better for your metabolism and overall health. If you keep your carbs low, you will still keep losing.

Severe Pain in Abdomen, Ribs, and Thoracic

I'm really sorry to hear about the issues you are having. I wish I had some advice to offer. This is the busiest WLS site so if someone is going to respond, it will be here. Good luck

    What do you eat?

At 2 months I had soft baked fish 4 times a day and maybe 1 protein shake.

    Has anyone experienced this???

My Dr said the first 6 weeks are for healing not weight loss. You just had major surgery. Your body is focused on repairing itself not losing weight. Google 3 week stall. It seriously feels like no one did any research pre-op and just had surgery. If you have ever read any WLS boards there are lots of answers to this kind of question. Do some research so you know what expect and don't stress yourself. You need to be focused on healing and you can't if you are stressed.

Random Bariatric Thought of the Day.

Even though he was rude, he did you a favor. You don't want someone with bad energy that isn't feeling positive about you touching you. If more people were honest about how they felt, we could avoid them and life would be easier. I rather someone be straight than shady.

Random Bariatric Thought of the Day.

My nurse was 6 months post op from sleeve and gave me a very realistic post op life view. I think the biggest asset to every patient would be a live swallow test. I was able to watch my sleeve work live on screen for my swallow test. I understand th3 exact size, shape and how it works. Seeing liquids instantly pass through was a tremendous help. It helped me understand how sliders work, in addition to just having greater knowledge about my body. All programs are not created the same. I'm glad I picked a good program and a good Dr. I am beyond thrilled at my results.

    Feeling indecisive

I think you are too young to have your intestines touched. Go sleeve and you can always revise later. I did sleeve, I started at 358 day of surgery, 190 right now
  14. My tastes are exactly the same, only exaggerated. If I didn't like something preoperative I really hate it now. I don't suggest stocking up on protein etc. You will get tired of it after weeks of that being all you have. So just get enough, not a lot.
  15. Once you tell anyone a secret it isn't a secret anymore. 3 people know I had surgery, none of them know each other and they live in 3 different states. There isn't anything you can do now. Just own it. If you don't want to talk about it just stonewall people. When people post on here asking about telling, if you don't want everyone to know, don't tell anyone. You can't un tell. If she was my SIL, she would be dead to me forever. I would never speak to her again. You don't have to hold a grudge but you also don't have to talk or deal with her. She isn't a blood relative, you didn't choose her as family. I would act like she and her family don't even exist.

    Day 6 Hungry

Every one feels hungry when they can't chew. Once you can chew food it will be less. Scientifically you should not have any physical hunger at this point mainly from swelling and nerves being cut. It should basically be impossible to be physically hungry. The person hungry at 5 weeks are you on a PPI? You can still feel hungry on an antacid. Only a PPI is going to stop you from feelings hungry because of acid.

    Detox-post op?

If you have a functioning liver it does all the detoxing you need. Everything else is just snake oil.
  18. There is a lot of misinformation in this thread. Since @Proud2BMe seems to be the only person over 1 year post op to post. He is the only person that offered a realistic answer. I'm 20 months post-op. I could eat all the mashed potatoes and gravy. They are a slider. Luckily I hate mashed potatoes. I could eat all the stuffing, another slider. I could probably eat all of the veggies too. Noticed I started with sliders and kept going with sliders. If I started with the turkey with no gravy, I would just be able to eat the turkey, nothing else. Since the turkey has gravy on it, I might be able to eat something else. It just depends. When you see people at 2 to 5 years post op and they have regained, do you think theyou regained on protein shakes and dense protein? No, they regained on sliders. I can eat basically infinite amounts of chips or cookies if I want. They offer no restriction. As time goes on and you learn your sleeve and what slides through you learn what you can eat. I can eat an entire bag of baby spinach in one sitting. Salad greens are a slider. A good slider but a slider. The idea that you are only going to be able to eat one cup of food for the rest of your life is completely ridiculous and totally false (unless you have some kind of complications like a stricture and even those people can eat a lot of sliders and usually do since sliders are easier for them than dense protein.).

Band to Sleeve - Gaining Weight Back

Try finding a therapist and work on the root causes of why you are eating a certain way.

    Do you count carbs?

Yes. I don't eat fruit, it is just sugar even it comes with fiber. I eat a bag of baby spinach almost every day. I keep my net carbs under 25. I am over 20 months post op.

    The 'PERFECT' bra??

Maybe cross your heart bras if the still make those. Maybe you can get lucky at Walmart.

    Lost my friend after surgury

Re-read your own post. Your "friend" was always a monster. It was until when you were down and needed help that you realized what a terrible person she was, surgery was just a coincidence. I love everyone that I love so much more post-op. The issues I went through with my help to get to the point of surgery really made me value life more. When I see people posting about cheating on their spouses post-op and assorted other things it surprises me. My love for people and the world has increased 10 fold. I would never want to harm anyone or cause them pain.

How much of your stomach was removed?

I don't think any Dr is really able to provide this number accurately. Every stomach is a different size to start with. They use the bougie as a guide but they can only get so close to it. I saw my sleeve during my life swallow testate so I have a very good idea of its size and shape. People always ask this question and unless you are planning a malpractice lawsuit, I don't see the point.

    The 'PERFECT' bra??

Soma makes the best bras. They are $60 though. I don'the think I have ever paid less than $50 for a bra unless there was a sale. If you are really looking for a bra that can work some magic you are going to need to increase your price range. Go to Soma, try a bra on, change your life.

    Stretching Stomach

You can'tell stretch a properly formed sleeve, it isn't a RNY pouch. At 3 months you are almost 1/2 healed so you are going to have more capacity, you are supposed to. The swelling is down and you are healing. If you weigh all your portions you don'the have to worry about over eating. So weigh every single thing that goes in your mouth.
