Walking Motivation
OutsideMatchInside replied to bettybooping's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Playing PokemonGo and walking to hatch your eggs is great motivation. I walked 25 miles the first weekend I played. -
I'm not the one who wants to keep it a secret.
OutsideMatchInside replied to oopsydaisy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Honestly it is easy to keep it a secret and it is better in the long run. My choice in not telling people except the few people I had to tell, was because I knew people who had surgery before and I knew how people gossiped about and how that was their label forever. Once you are healed if you heal well, you probably won't even feel like a weight loss patient. I am 2 years post-op and I don't really feel like a WLS patient anymore, my post-op memories are starting to fade and not be as vivid (I have to read posts here to be reminded). I will probably live another 40 years at least. I don't need the label of WLS patient 10 years for now, when I barely remember it and keep my weight off will be the same for me as it is for other people. I think your recovery will be easier by keeping it to yourself, you don't have to worry about other people projecting their feelings onto you. Also, it honestly is not other peoples business. Health and surgery should be private matters. How you lose weight shouldn't really be a topic of discussion. I think your husband is just trying to protect you. Let him. -
Review of the Gwynnie Bee/Dia & Co Plus Size Clothing Services
OutsideMatchInside replied to darnlochnessmonster's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Honestly if you are still in the losing phase you need to try everything on. Sizes change rapidly. plus womens clothing sizes have no standardization. I like the idea of people picking out clothes for you, it helps you step out your comfort zone. You can do it in person though at almost any good quality store and catch sales. Sales people love to personal shop for you. I have a couple people that call me when things come in that they know I like. Gwynnie, with the having clothes and returning them has always seemed like a nightmare. The clothes have never been my style. I hear a lot of issues with their billing and the returns. Thanks for posting you experiences! -
Exceed your protein goals but really... A lot of it is just temp as your body changes. My nails are usually super strong I have a few months where they were thin, and now they are back being like talons. Nothing special done.

How many calories do you eat per day?
OutsideMatchInside replied to dreamingsmall's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Anywhere between 1400 and 2200 calories, it just depends on my mood and what I am doing. 1400 and 120 grams of protein is my bare minimum to function, and I eat more when I am active or out a lot. 26 months post op. -
Ladies - How did you handle the shopping transition from plus size?
OutsideMatchInside replied to Kat410's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
They pay you pennies and sell it for a lot more, honestly it is better to just donate considering what they pay people. -

DS and Absorbing Zoloft

So you got this from your primary not a Psychiatrist ? DS is very malabsorptive. They are going to need to increase your dosage, have they talked with you about that? -
Ladies - How did you handle the shopping transition from plus size?
OutsideMatchInside replied to Kat410's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm glad you went shopping and had fun! This is why I really encourage people get new clothes or at least try them on, often. We used to have a lot of people post here that they lost 50 pounds but still felt they looked the same. They were usually SAHM wearing the same clothes they wore pre-op. Clothes and measurements are some of the best ways to really make the mind body connection with weight loss, for people that are struggling with it. It takes a while though. Every time I think I am used to being this size and can pick out clothes my size, I grab something in a large instead of a medium. It is a process. At least plus size clothes look waaaay to large to me now, instead of looking like the norm. -

DS and Absorbing Zoloft
OutsideMatchInside replied to Tevibez_wls_'s topic in Duodenal Switch Surgery Forum
Have you talked with the Dr that prescribes the zoloft about your having surgery? Most Drs do not want people on those types of meds having a malabsorptive surgery because it is very hard to manage the doses. -
Going off psych meds after surgery
OutsideMatchInside replied to monalyssa33's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
@DrGee Why do you have to crush your pills? I was able to swallow large normal sized pills right after surgery. -
Going off psych meds after surgery
OutsideMatchInside replied to monalyssa33's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Going off your meds post-op would probably be one of the worst decision you can make. Even people that are emotionally stable have lots of issues post-op. Your meds are going to need to be monitored but I wouldn't even think about dropping them until I was at a stable weight. The mood swings and issues from the massive hormone dump of losing weight is a real killer. It can push anyone over the edge. -
Eating is a chore
OutsideMatchInside replied to CJ Sunshine's topic in Duodenal Switch Surgery Forum
Well not chewing is boring. Thte first 6 months you never know if something is going to get stuck or hurt. 2 years out my relationship with food is pretty normalized. I enjoy it. I don't have issues with eating. I am not food obsessed but I still love food and I am a foodie. It gets better. Hang in there. -
Can I puree anything and would it be acceptable?
OutsideMatchInside replied to GeTnBackuP's topic in Purée (stage 2)
Purees still need to meet your nutritional goals, so no you can't just blend anything. Protein first. -
EXPERIENCED SLEEVERS! NEED YOIR RECIPE WISDOM on protein shakes!

I hate chocolate too for the most part. I used unflavored powder with broth. I got sick of drink sweet stuff. There is also a lot of variety in the Syntrax nectars. -
Now it just seems so hopeless

They have a BMI of 83, most Drs won't operate on someone that large. -
Keto Krate
OutsideMatchInside replied to bettybooping's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have thought about it. I'm too picky of an eater to let other people pick foods for me. Plus it takes me too long to eat through most things. It would be a waste of money for me. -

Are you getting your pain meds?
OutsideMatchInside replied to celticNgel's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
When my friend went to fill my script there was an issue because the PA wrote it and wasn't in the DEA system. They corrected it though and I got my script. If I went some place and the pharmacist was questioning me, I would just switch my prescription. It isn't like there is a shortage of pharmacies (for most americans, not talking about rural people). -
Fobi Ring for sleeved patients
OutsideMatchInside replied to Nancy MBGC's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Never heard of it. Sounds too much like a lap band. Not interested in something that is going to cut into and erode my stomach, when it is already small enough. It sounds like path to full gastrectomy. This is like the 3rd post about this in the past few days. Wonder what the new interest is. I guess Sleeves aren't long term profitable enough for surgeons. If a Dr was trying to selling me a band over my sleeve I would think they were not confident in their surgical skills. A properly formed sleeve doesn't stretch and doesn't need a band. -

What is a non-food activity your REALLY looking forward to?
OutsideMatchInside replied to celticNgel's topic in The Gals' Room
That might seem thrilling now, but it gets annoying AF really fast. Once you are over losing weight and feel normalized and people are still making a big deal about how different you look, it is boring, annoying and irritating. It ends up just being a constant reminder of who you used to be not who you are now. -
How to STOP losing?
OutsideMatchInside replied to Tat19808's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This. Your body is going to stop when it gets to a point it doesn't want to lose anymore. Then if you want to lose more you are going to have to fight with it. Sleevers have a lot more control over their long term weight loss than other WLS because we don't have malabsorption. I have stopped and started my WL a few times.
