  1. @paintmysleep Well if you don't weigh your food and track it, really easy long term. A lot of people assume the restriction they have when their stomach is swollen and they are healing (like you right now), is the restriction they will always have. Except that isn't real restriction that is just healing. I don't know why you think your 10 day old new stomach should be able to eat all those things. I still struggle with grilled chicken, it is too dry and basically one of the worst things to eat. You want moist meats, dry meats are pure hell. Even with your restriction OP, if you want to you could get a 900 calorie large shake from Steak N Shake and down it. It is easy to eat around your sleeve long term. And lots people think they can eat how they did before surgery just in smaller quantities and still lose. The only problem with that is, if your pre-op diet was carb heavy and and you are carb sensitive (everyone isn't bust most people are since the carbs we eat now are so fake), you will pack the pounds on. There are people are had surgery around the same time as me or shortly after me that are dealing with regain and I am like... It seems completely impossible to me and illogical that someone not even 2 years from surgery is already dealing with regain, but then you find out they aren't tracking and are eating crap. It is easy to regain, it is even easier to never get to goal. Getting to goal or close too it as soon as possible is the best motivation to fight to keep your weight. It seems like the people that never get to goal or close to it just give up and fall all the way off the wagon.

Am I eating too much protein?

@mxpxchik11 Your day looks perfect to me. You are killing it. 60 grams of protein is the bare minimum you need so you don't get sick. That isn't the amount for optimal health. I have been over 100 most days for over 20 months, Kidneys are fine. I try to have a gram of protein for each pound of lean mass.

@Oregondaisy Wow how are you doing now?

    Summer bbq and parties

BBQ arent even an issue. Grill shrimp, Salmon You can eat burgers and hot dogs Get a broccoli salad from the deli instead of potato salad. Just don't drink. Drink water I really isn't hard you just have to take a hard line on it. If people try and push stuff on you just ask them if they love you enough to let you be great and lose the weight you want.

    Pre op bowel prep?

The pre-op diet is all the bowel prep you need.

    Moving along

Just wear your CPAP. I wish people that need them could hear themselves. My friend has one, doesn't use it. We went on vacation and I had to sit in a hotel room hearing her die over and over in sleep all night. It was horrible. Wear your CPAP, you are only hurting yourself.
  7. @PatientEleventyBillion 500 grams of carbs a day! What could go wrong?!?!!? This calculator is a perfect example of what is wrong with the food pyramid and why most nutritionists are completely useless.

How will I take my pills?

I took all my pills normally. No difference post-op from pre-op.

    Finding myself

I wasn't prepare for life after weight loss at all, and I thought I was. Most of what they warn you about pre-op is addiction transfer, not creating good habits/regain and infidelity. Well since I didn't drink before surgery, dropping sizes rapidly basically killed my previous shopping habit, and I'm not married, I thought I didn't have much to worry about. No one really prepares you for body image or self-esteem issues. They feel like when you lose weight all that should be resolved. If you didn't hate yourself/body before, adjusting to a new body can be hard. Finding all new stores to shop at can be hard. Find clothes you like, and then having them be too big in 2 weeks can drive you nuts. I've lost 2 shoes sizes. All the shoes I bought last year I need give away because they are too large. Not having clothes, after having 3 closets full of clothes and shoes, freaks me out. I can't replace stuff as fast as I am dropping sizes, and I hate shopping now because I have to try every single thing on.

    Food ideas

I mean at 3 weeks, its really not even worth it going out. That isn't a representation of real post-op life though. I eat out all the time, and it is pretty easy to make choices on plan once you are like more than 3 months out. I was out of the house all day yesterday and ate out all day and still ended up under on calories I go to starbucks once a week and get egg bites and a flat white. You could eat the egg white bites on mushies, get a bottle of water for after you are done. I don't eat at Chipotle, because they are criminals but, even on mushies though, you could have got a side of guac or slices of avocado. Pizza place is tough, but you could have just got some cheese to much on. Restaurants are really accommodating if you ask. The trick is to know what to ask for. Like I go to the sub place by my job, for lunch I get Italian beef, but they put it in a bowl for me. It isn't on the menu, I asked them to do it and they do it all the time.

Chinese restaurant makes bad choice after surgery

It is pretty easy to make good choices at a Chinese restaurant. I do it all the time. First ask them what entrees they have with no sugar in the sauce. They will tell you right away if they have a few or none. You can replace rice with steamed veggies. Egg drop soup is a good choice (I think its gross but people like it) I get sushi and don't eat the rice. All it takes is some out of the box thinking and a little will power. Also even though I know my stomach is fully healed, I'm still terrified to eat rice. Luckily I don't like it anyway.

    Finding myself

Do not get meds. They will not help you. Several Dr's told me no meds. They will make things worse instead of better. Your body is going through so much upheaval that adding more chemicals to the mix is a disaster. I identified with a lot of what you wrote. I'm not married, I am single and I live alone but I went through a big identity crisis a few months ago. Around the time I went from plus to normal sizes. I felt like I was in an alien body. And the way people treated me differently really hurt me a lot. Mainly because when I was huge I was a confident and happy person. I thought I mattered then when I lost weight and I realized how people really thought about fat people and me before I lost weight, I lost it. It crushed me. I realized I had spent most of my adult life oblivious to how under valued I was. Then that just spiraled into body image and self esteem issues that I have never had before. I felt like my body was the body of a monster with all the loose skin. I have mirrors all over my home because in general I'm vain but I started to hate even seeing myself in the mirror all I saw was flaws. I went from walking around 1/2 dressed to being covered up all the time so I wouldn't have to see myself. I looked for a counselor that specialized in post weight loss. I never found one. I went to a regular counselor and she was okay. She still didn't understand what I was going through and none of my friends did either. People thinking you lost weight. You should be happy now. Then it finally clicked for me. This is a solitary experience. No one is ever going to understand. Most people never hit almost 400 pounds and most never lose this low. It just doesn't happen. Even most people in the WLS community are useless, losing 100 pounds is nothing like losing 200. So instead of trying to talk to other people and get other people to understand my experience and relate to it, I did a lot of internal searching. I meditated, went to church, did yoga and focused on myself and loving myself. Instead of focusing on my failures I focus on my successes. It is still hard it is a daily struggle but I am a lot better now than I was 6 months ago.

    Life choices...

If you want to eat chips at night buy the quest protein chips. If you are more real food during the day, like dense protein you wouldn't be so hungry at night. I eat 4 to 6 times a day.

Please help me....almost 2 years out...starting to gain

You had surgery a few days after me. I know that now we can eat more, and the further out for surgery the less motivated we can become. I had more to lose than you so I am still losing, even though it is slow. So I understand where you are physically with your sleeve. Do you weigh your food? Do you track your food? What do you eat? What are your daily macros? Protein? Carbs? Fat? You didn't provide anything in your post that would help people help you.
  15. When I am tested at the University mine is similar I lay on the table with a tent over my face. The most boring 30 minutes of life. I wish my RMR was 2400, how I could feast.
  16. If you have been morbidly obese for a while most of those calculator will be off. It is better to be actually tested in a lab. The reason being is we have a different body makeup than people who have not been morbidly obese. When you are heavy your body has to build muscle to carry all that weight. So unless you have other things going on, your RMR is going to be higher than normal. We spent all this time and money on surgery, investing in some body composition testing is a drop in the bucket. I consider it the same maintenance as getting my blood work done. It also allows me to accurate set my calories instead of guessing.
  17. @BigUtahManI think this is the first post I have read with a nutritionist that was actually useful with accurate information. Yeah with a BMR that high it is basically impossible for you to eat enough calories with a sleeve to support extensive exercise. How did the Dr office test your RMR? So few seem to test when it should be something they are are required to do.
  18. Try the Stur water drops they are made with stevia. Also there are just some other drips called water drops that are made with stevia. Look at a heath food store. I'm not against water additives just find a quality one. Nothing in the grocery store is good. Try health food or supplement store or online

    Did you lose your boobs?

If you never really gained weight in your books you can probably keep them. My breasts are the same size for the most part just my band shrunk. I never gained weight in breasts they were always large, but they never got proportionately larger as I gained weight. I went from a 50dd to a 36G.
  20. I agree with @BigViffer Everything you are doing looks okay. When in doubt cut out all processed foods and see what happens. That diet Snapple, no girl no. The veggie patty unless you are a vegetarian there is no benefit for you, eat a normal protein. Overall your food is really good though. I'd give up the cheddar chips though too. I like H20 protein water too. As a rule I try to limit my processed items to one a day max. They will slow your weight loss either will sodium or fake sweeteners. Also thank you so much for asking an educated question with documentation. That was really refreshing compared to most post around here.

I haven't been able to get the vitamins yet

If someone had surgery on Medicaid, and all they had was food stamps, I can see how they wouldn't be able to afford vitamins. Still they should be able to get a script for vitamins and get them free. I have never used food stamps but do proteins shakes count as food? The pre-made?
  22. OutsideMatchInside

I haven't been able to get the vitamins yet

That nutrition will slow your recovery. Get some protein shakes, they have them at Walmart, Get something with less than 5 grams of sugar. Premier is the best you are going to find at walmart. Get vitamins, any vitamin that is not a gummy. You can't get vitamins as a script from your Dr? Where did you have surgery? Have you been to any follow up visits? Why can't you have protein shakes? Stop eating mashed potatoes, they have zero nutiritonal value. Apple sauce is just sugar. The cottage cheese is a good choice.

On my own on surgery day.

The hospital staff will take care of you. You won't be alone. My friend was here for my surgery but after you check in and they get you prepped, even if you have someone with you, you are alone anyway. When I woke up it was nice she was there, but she needed to get something to eat and I had other stuff to deal with after waking up, so she wasn't really necessary. You really just need someone to drop you off and pick you up. The staff takes care of you otherwise. Good luck

Not loosing expected weight after sleeve surgery

Thanks for coming back. I'm sure your mom would want you to take care of yourself. You can't let grief and depression endanger your health. Low vitamin D will take away your will to live and do anything. Make sure you take your supplements and you will feel better in 2 to 3 weeks. You might get some appetite also. You have to eat though, you can't lose weight if you aren't eating.
