    My Hunger Has Returned!!

Google search GenPro, is is snake oil with little to no scientific proof to support their claims of being able to defy all known physics.

    My Hunger Has Returned!!

@nonnilynn It is really easy to under eat. I track specifically so I don't under eat. I eat every 2-3 hours so I don't have the chance to get hungry and make bad choices. My "snacks" are like steak and bunless burgers. I don't really eat traditional snack foods. I'm not really snacking, I just have small protein meals all day. I think a lot of NUTs telling people no snacking really holds people back. There is not way you can meet protein goals in 3 meals. Snacking doesn't mean eating chips and salsa. A snack can be deli meat and cheese.

    My Hunger Has Returned!!

If you are less than a year out and hungry at the time, especially immediately after surgery. You need to be on a PPI. I'm hungry often because my metabolism is super charged. I'm an active person. I eat every 2 hours, dense protein. If you eat carbs you will just want more carbs Since we can eat endless amount of carbs, starting carbs is a bad idea.

    BP meds gone after sleeve

I had surgery to avoid blood pressure meds. My pressure was just at the point they gave me meds, it was on the low end of high. Now my blood pressure is on the very low end of normal. Different problems, but hey no pills!

Has Anyone Had a Second Sleeve?

@SoCalLeslie Do you weigh all of your food and track it? Do you start your meals with 4 ounces of dense protein? That is the first place to start to get back on track. If you weigh/measure track your food and use that for portion control, you don't over eat. 4 ounces is enough to fill me up and satisfy me, even though I can eat 6, I choose not to eat 6. I am talking about dense protein. I can eat endless amounts of trash if I choose to. You had surgery 2 days after me. I don't see how your sleeve could be stretched, not to the point of causing regain. I'm still losing weight at almost 22 months out from surgery. You already admitted to eating the wrong things, being resleeved or revised isn't going to save you from bad food choices, not long term. Even if you revise if you don't create proper eating habits, once that "honeymoon" period is over, also called healing, you will just start eating poorly and regaining again. Hopefully the therapist can help you with your eating. Good Luck! @akreese02 My metabolism is high to normal. I can maintain on over 2000 calories, and lose albeit slowly on just a little less, with minimal exercise. If you eat properly and increase your calories as you progress you don't damage your metabolism. I'm not guessing about my metabolic level, I have it tested. I started having it tested at first just to dispel this idea that surgery kills your metabolism and to make sure mine was on track so I couldn't use "slow metabolism" as a crutch for bad choices. There are a lot of other people that post here, like @BigViffer that maintain and lose on higher calories, but they all raised their calories as they progressed from surgery. The reason people regain on just a few calories is they keep their calories in the 800-1000 range for too long and kill their metabolism.

Worth it to go through insurance?

My opinion is, there are a few things to consider. If the insurance out of pocket is more than Mexico then Mexico is more cost effective. It is also faster. The only reason to have surgery in the US is really just your comfort level. Will your primary doctor still see you if you have surgery out of the country? If there is a complication will United pay once you get back to the US? Complications are rare but they can happen. Personally if I had to jump through all those hoops, I would have just gone to Mexico. Luckily I was able to go from first visit to surgery in 8 weeks with my insurance.

First 7 days post op with surgery complications.

Short term, sure, but just drink all day, even just little sips. The more you drink the more you will be able to drink. Protein drinks count as liquids so if you can only get in limit liquids, let it be protein drinks before water. They will still hydrate you.

    post op 420 friendly question

I know but I'm sick of people on this forum jumping down peoples throats for smoking weed. It is better than Xanax.

    post op 420 friendly question

People smoke marijuana for a lot of reasons. When my grandmother was at the end of life getting her to smoke was the only way we got her to eat. Other people I know self medicated from panic attacks and other things with it, like a lot of military Vets. I'm not judging.

    post op 420 friendly question

Long story short, you are screwed. Best you can do is flood yourself with water and and try to dilute your urine as much as possible. Good luck. I don't smoke pot but I know a lot of people that do. Even with the urine cleaning stuff you can take, you need more than 5 days. If you pass this drug test it will just be the grace of God that allows it. Also I hate to tell you but loosing a massive amount of waste rapidly throws a lot of tests off. So maybe you will get lucky, but I doubt it. If anything dropping a ton of weight will have more THC floating in your system than normal.

    First Alcoholic Beverage

@blizair09 Right on days I drink I just end up having like 3 protein shakes to make up for the calories. It just isn't worth going hungry to drink liquor.

    why no soda??

This is the most important thing on this forum and in post op life but 90% of sleevers/RNY/WLS patients in general don't follow. If you weigh and measure all your food. You won't know how "stretched" your sleeve is or not. If you just rely on restriction to control your portions, eventually that control is going to be very different. I don't drink soda. I think it is basically a stupid habit at this point. I've had a couple rum and cokes since surgery. I've had some Mimosas. Carbonation does not hurt, it doesn't stretch your stomach. When people say this I seriously question their scientific understanding. Soda doesn't interest me, so I don't drink it. I will celebrate with Champagne for the rest of my life whenever I feel like it and I won't ruin the holy church of Brunch by not drinking a Mimosa with my meal (yes, I drink and eat every now and then*gasp*). However, I didn't do these things until I lost most of my weight and was around a year or more post-op. Sucking down soda in a newly minted stomach is just dumb and reckless but everyone who has surgery is an adult and can make their own choices, good or bad.
  15. Everyone always gets a lift plus reduction. If you look around on real self, you can find people who get a lift without implants but with fat transfer, and they use your skin to make an internal bra. That way you can lift, and gain volume. That is the kind of lift I want. Big breast run in my family and I want to keep mine. I have always had large breasts and I am not interested in being anything smaller than a DD. Dolly Parton is my spirit animal.

What are you eating for dinner tonight?

    Ranch chicken wings.
  18. It was a tough read but honestly that one of the reasons I wanted to lose weight. Who cold carry me? If I needed to be rescued who could do it? It is just a reminder to be diligent about your health and not to take anything for granted. Glad you are okay, OP.

Popcorn.. when did you start eating it

Sometimes I wish I liked yogurt but I would starve to death on water before I eat it. I wasn't super crazy about it after surgery, but post-op it is nastiest thing on earth. The peanut butter Quest powder is really good. You can make awesome cookies with it. You can also make your own ice cream. I did, when I was less lazy and halo top was harder to find.

    Making Plans

If you can sit then you should be okay. I assume you are going with friends. Do they know you are having surgery?

    Boobies...ugh

It is hilarious because when you watch 600 lb life, those people are literally 1/2 a ton and they only lose 30 pounds in a month. And most of them are in the hospital that first month on a stricter diet than those of us at home. @ShelterDog64 I answered your age question in PM, don't want to give up too much personal information online. I know you have lost most of your weight, but you still aren't even a year post op. Plastic surgery prices and demand is lower in the fall/winter, which is why I picked that time to have my surgery. I really was shooting for Fall of 2017, but I think fall of 2018, maybe even 2019 might be better, it just depends. My skin has no snapback. I've had stretch marks since I was a kid just from growing. My skin just genetically is not very elastic, at least not in my body, face is amazing. The way I am losing and my fat is settling is really different the closer I get to goal. Like if there was only one surgery I could afford it would be arms. That is the must do, Everything else I can hide. For me, a breast lift is just vanity so I can go braless and wear strapless dresses. Men don't care what tits look like as long as they can touch them. Physically my breast do no bother me, especially since they are much lighter. My apron bothers me, it flop, but I don't get infections and I don't have issues with it. My belly button does get gross and I have to clean it carefully, but at the end of the day that is all something I can hide in clothes. As much as I would love to get my thighs done, people with thighs like mine don't end up with good results from thigh lifts. i would still never be able to wear short shorts of a bathing suit without shorts, so it is a waste of money. I think you might find when you get to goal, that things look and feel a little different. In your second year, you still might lose weight. Back when vets used to post here, a lot of people would comment that they lost another 5 to 10 pounds without trying. 5 or 10 pounds doesn't seem like a lot for heavy people, but once you are under 200 that is a size or worse a size and a half (being between sizes is the worst!) depending on where it comes from. If you get your body snatched and lose another 10 pounds from ????? on your body, you are diminishing your results. It is a lot of money to spend, better to wait and get it right than to do it and want a revision.

    Airplane Seat Belt fits !!

It feels so great doesn't it? I used to be a business traveler and I had my own seat belt extended I purchased so I wouldn't have to be embarrassed and ask for one, I took a flight last year and not only did the seat belt fit, I was able to pull it super tight, and I had room in my seat!
