    12 Weeks Out, Stalled Already??

You body doesn't care that it was pre-op though. All it knows is that it has lost a lot of weight rapidly and it isn't sure if this is a good or bad thing. You will stall for a little while then it will change. Since you seem into fitness (nice to see), you might like this page. It is a lot to read but it all applies. It isn't for WLS patients but it applies to anyone cutting calories and/or exercising. http://physiqonomics.com/8-reasons-calorie-deficit/ Hats off to you for going back to Cross Fit so soon. I went when I was about 9 months. I could barely hang. I had to up my calories a lot to make it work for me.

    My Hunger Has Returned!!

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Proton-pump_inhibitor Ask your Dr which one they recommend. Post op your body is still producing acid for a full size stomach. I didn't start taking my PPI right away because I never had GERD pre-op and didn't think it was necessary. Big mistake. I never had hunger issues still don't (well not physical hunger anyway, head hunger, sure). If you let acid rage out of control, it takes longer to calm down. Take a PPI for 6 months, it won't hurt you and it will make post-op life a lot easier.

    Help

Did you really gain 4 pounds of fat? I gain 4 pounds with my period. How often do you weigh yourself? Keep doing everything as you are doing it now and weigh yourself every day to for a week to make sure you really gained 4 pounds. Then adjust from there.

    12 Weeks Out, Stalled Already??

Most people aren't going to plateau that fast because they are not losing 30 pounds a month. You body needs a break and time to catch up. Just relax and keep doing what you are doing. Also, update your weight on the site so we can all see your progress.

    Tailbone pain??????

You have to learn to sit different. It took me months. We have a thread around here with a diagram on the difference between how obese and normal weight people sit. I haven't been able to find it and I searched for it a couple times this week.

Weight Gain After Gastric Sleeve Surgery

10 pounds might not seem like a lot to most people but my very good friend is your height so I know 10 pounds is a lot to someone your size. I would suggest doing 4 ounces of dense protein, grilled chicken, steak, pork chops etc. Grilled, baked, 5 times a day, so you aren't hungry.

    Anybody regret getting WLS?

I wrote what I meant and I meant what I wrote. If you don't like it add me to ignore. My opinion is my opinion and is completely valid after years of reading absolute dribble. You are throwing a temper tantrum right now because someone said something you don't agree with. The adult response would be to ignore it.

    Orbera Balloon Next Week!!!!!

The way the ballon is being used and marketed in the US compared to Europe is immoral and unethical. Which is typical for US healthcare in general.

    Anybody regret getting WLS?

The only people that post that are long term on forums are either really successful and living a whole new life so they are really happy, and people that have regained. The people that have regained don't usually stick around much. Even people with complications usually don't regret their surgery. The only regret I see all the time is people wishing they had done it sooner. I wish I had done it sooner, but I wasn't in the right head space any time earlier in my life to handle it, so I had it at the right time for me.

    Next year insurance changes

We are in the same situation in the same state. I used to have 10 insurance companies to choose from, them 2, now 1. They removed all the Drs and Hospital networks local to my area and I have to travel 90 miles plus for a decent Dr, and they are my only insurance option. So now instead of just running my business, I have to run my business and work a job just to have decent insurance, when I don't even need the job financially. Many of my self employed friends across the country are in the same boat.

    Frustrated and afraid

I use LoseIt! Premium. MFP and any other app will tell you that you are under calories if you close your day out. You don't have to close your day out. The only purpose in closing your day is to get it to tell you what your projected weight loss will be. That isn't going to be accurate anyway. Just don't close your day out, just track and move to the next day and it won't bother you about low calories. I think I have closed my day like 3 times in the past 2 years. And LoseIt still estimates my weight loss even if I don't close my days.

    Anybody regret getting WLS?

Just search youtube it is full of food addict cry babies who are unhappy with their surgery and still eating pasta. Or you can search regret here and find lots of thread of unhappy people who can't pig out on pizza of chug liquor like it is Spring Break anymore. Although most of those claims are just click bait, when you watch the actual videos, you will see they are happy with their results even if they never got to goal. Forums are a skewed representation of life after WLS. First of all it is mainly newbs. I had surgery almost 2 years ago and basically no one that had surgery the same month as me posts here. Even at the one year mark they were all gone. 3 kinds of people post on WLS forums, newbs, successful people and failures/regains. I'm thrilled with my surgery results, my health improvements were almost immediate. The weight loss is just icing on the cake.

    Doctor vs nutritionist

@mxpxchik11 I would listen to the Dr. I am not sure what kind of practice you are going to, but the one I went to has a shared dietitian. The information in the book and what the dietitian said are not the same as what my Dr said. He actually gave me a separate sheet that he just gives to his patients on how he wants you to eat. Every Dr and Surgeon I know on a personal level (friends, family friends) all eat Paleo/Keto/Low Carb. If your Dr is telling you below 25 grams, follow their advice. It is honestly very easy to do anyway, if you are just eating protein and veggies. Your dietitian is right about eating more meals and getting your calories to 1000, you want to get your calories to 1000-1200 ASAP so you aren't stuck eating under 1000 calories forever. At that stage I ate 5 times a day, and I still eat 4- 5 times a day now at almost 2 years so I can meet my protein goals.

    Condiments?

Hot sauce is no calories, so go crazy. Just make sure you are taking a PPI and antacid. I don't eat Salsa, doesn't interest me, can't help you there. An entire brand of calorie free condiments https://www.waldenfarms.com/ They are all just flavoring, xanthum gum and water. Best sugar free BBQ sauce I have ever had, http://www.netrition.com/guys_bbq_sauce.html You can't even tell the difference.

    Frustrated and afraid

I think apps are the best way to track. My fitness pal sucks in my opinion it is flooded with too much inaccurate information. You can write it down, but an app is doing to do most of the work for you and keep track easier. If you don't have one get a scale. Your Dr should have told you how much to protein and fluids. Do you have a post-op plan? Also it is normal not to lose weight. You don't lose weight every day or even every week.

    My Hunger Has Returned!!

Are you taking a PPI? Acid can mimic hunger. At 9 weeks all of the nerves are not even reconnected to your stomach for you to feel hunger. Your body doesn't know the stomach is reduced yet and is still producing acid for a full size stomach. I'm almost 2 years out and I have to go almost 24 hours without eating to feel hungry. The entire first year I had zero physical hunger
  19. soft baked white fish, it is basically mush after 3 chews
  20. @maya84 Ask a Dr, it shouldn't be an issue but just tell them and ask their opinion. You have to disclose your medical history anyway. You won't be the first or last in this position. At 1 year plus, you shouldn't have any issues different from any other woman

First time eating out and tried to be normal

It really depends on what stage you are on and what you can tolerate. I have never had issues with cheeses or fat. Early on like the first 6 months. Crab cakes chicken quesadillas ( I just eat the meat and the cheese out, I low carbed for a long time before surgery off and on so no one cares they are used to it) chicken salad, problem is a lot of places add sugar to it, so you have ask After 6 month Hot wings without breading, Lots of places have them, just make sure the sauce doesn't have sugar Fried chicken, don't eat the skin or coating Toppings off pizza Steak 9 months on Chicken Caesar Salad Steak It really depends on the restaurant if it is some place I have never been before I check the menu online. Don't be afraid to order you food special, places will accommodate you and you don;t have to tell them you have any specific needs. I just tell them what I want. Like I order entrees with double veggies no starches etc. It is pretty easy to make choices out once you are familiar with your sleeve, I never have issues finding something to eat any place I go. Even if I go some place that just sells cake. I just get coffee.
  22. I think feeling regret has a lot to do with where people are mentally. If you hit rock bottom with your weight and health before surgery you are less likely to experience regret. Also for me mentally being free from thinking about food felt like gaining a tremendous amount of freedom over myself. I am also amazed when I read stories of people that had terrible complications and they don't regret surgery. I also feel like the super morbidly obese are happier after surgery, there are exceptions like the severe food addicts. Just because they suffer more pre-op.

    Orbera Balloon Next Week!!!!!

@chpstick2u I'm really sorry that happened to you. I'm surprised the hospital released you like that. They wouldn't release me until I could eat and manage my pain. They don't want to release people and have them go home and starve. If I had a BMI around 30 and no comorbidities, I would just have lipo, same cost and at least it is perm

    Question re: why insurance deny

Honestly is mainly comes down to how good the Dr office is and how good they are at submitting. If they really know what they are doing they can get almost anyone approved. I went with a big program because I knew they could push it because they had a lot of experience and a large patient volume.
