WORST TIME TRYING TO GET THIS DONE
OutsideMatchInside replied to Ouiser's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Since no one else is speaking in plain English tryingbeing nice... The Sleep Apnea machine requirement and the whole sleep study is so you don't die on the table. This is major surgery and you need to be in the best health possible before you have surgery. Anesthesia is dangerous. It is the same reason why they make people do pre-op diets so their livers are smaller to make surgery easier. This isn't just some random hoops, these are for your safety. -

@elliekay Like @catwoman7 said DEXA scans are a great way to know what your body fat is and that is a better gauge of where you should be. You are in Illinois, almost every public university offers DEXA scans in their Sports depts, at a fraction of the commercial costs. They need the money so support your local university! -
When my Dr told me I could. This isn't something you should take suggestions from on the internet. There is no reason to risk a hernia. Ask YOUR DOCTOR. I was cleared at 6 weeks

Leaving dieting behind
OutsideMatchInside replied to bellabloom's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
This is the internet, forum titles are meaningless. I work from home and I'm bored a lot. I've gone easy and let her slide. I try for the most part to ignore her because she is mentally ill, but she is filling peoples heads with nonsense. She has no integrity. She is a known and admitted liar. She blew it a long time ago. I'm not personally attacking her, I am just basically stating facts, which she admitted herself. She caused a #$%^ storm of drama here then fluttered off leaving nothing but drama in her wake. She is entirely toxic. I regret nothing I said and I could write a dissertation about her, her lies and her actions. She should have been banned a long time ago but she is a professional victim and drama queen. -
Adjusting Your Goals and Expectations
OutsideMatchInside replied to elliekay's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I set my goal weight based on my HS weight. I'm physically smaller now than I was in HS at this same weight (a lot more muscle mass). The smaller I get, the smaller I see that I can get, 10 or 20 more pounds wouldn't hurt. I have a lot of loose skin on my stomach, so yeah I can grab a lot of tummy, but it is mainly loose skin that I can't lose, its playdough. I'm almost 1/2 the size I used to be skin is to be expected. I have a goal for myself and a stretch goal, that are just for me to know not anyone else. If I do not lose anymore I am happy where I am. I feel like I will lose more just because of how I eat. It will just be at a snails pace. I'm pretty sure my body is as shocked as I am to be at this weight. -

Low sugar Tomato sauces...anyone???
OutsideMatchInside replied to The New Kel's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I find no sugar added tomato products in the regular grocery store all the time. Just read the labels. I was buying this to make low carb pizza http://mycadia.com/product.php?p=Food&c=Staples&s=25276#!/197442 Then I just started getting regular no sugar added tomato sauce at the grocery store and adding seasoning. If you read labels it isn't an issue. Hunts has a ton that don't have added sugar. Just look. -

4 day torture
OutsideMatchInside replied to GSPlotTwist's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Some people are sensitive to cold post-op, the first few days I had issues with cold items. Try a diffrent broth. You haven't mentioned any protein, which is worrisome. I wouldn't bother with mashed potatoes. They have zero nutritional value. -
Leaving dieting behind
OutsideMatchInside replied to bellabloom's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
All the people that post they feel their body needs chicken and potatoes with gravy 3 days post-op (totally happened here) or candy a week out. When see someone that seems successful talking about they are "intuitive eating" it is just giving a green light for bad behavior. Life post-op should not feel like you are on a continual diet. That is why changing your attitude about food, learning nutrition, and find a way of eating that does not make you deprived matter. Intuitive eating for food addicts is just a crock of #$@^ -
Leaving dieting behind
OutsideMatchInside replied to bellabloom's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Exactly. And she has a long history of lying here, and she previously admitted that she lied. So how can anyone believe anything she says at all? Almost everyone that was here when she was spinning her fantasical lies and called her out on it are gone. So she feels perfectly comfortable to come back, reinvent herself as some new age eating guru and spew more BS. If anyone dares to call her on her BS or remember all the lies she told she just plays victim. She is completely toxic. -
Problems Getting Into Plastic Surgeons Office
OutsideMatchInside replied to MowryRocks's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Yeah I know it sucks. When I was just over 1/2 to goal, my body was the worst. The closer I get to goal the better it gets. Your fat and body readjusts and changes. -
Leaving dieting behind
OutsideMatchInside replied to bellabloom's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
If anything she wrote is true, which is unlikely. It is probably a tactic they taught her when she went in-patient for her anorexia (if that was true). Intuitive eating is why almost everyone is over weight. An anorexic suggesting intuitive eating to people that are probably compulsive over eaters as a solution to their problems is so misguided it borders on unethical and immoral. Why she is allowed to continue to troll these forums with her fantastical lies is a mystery. -
Burning Reflux - Horrible
OutsideMatchInside replied to Holly McQuillan's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well you should have never stopped taking your medicine. It is going to take a week or more for it to get better if it is as bad as you say. Taking PPI for 6 to 9 months post-op isn't going to harm you, when they are talking long term they are talking about 7 years plus, not a few months. The biggest issue with taking them is low iron, but since most people post WLS are supplementing vitamins and minerals it shouldn't be that much of an issue. It really isn't worth risking your esophagus to avoid taking a pill for just a few months. I never had GERD before surgery. The only times I have ever had it post-op, after the 6 month mark I did it to myself by not weighing my food (eating out) and over eating. If I don't over eat I don't have GERD. -
Problems Getting Into Plastic Surgeons Office

Wait. My boobs totally changed/improved over the last few months. Waiting can suck, but the longer I am under 200 the better my body is getting. Boobs are the last thing you want to get done when your weight isn't stable. If you lose 10 or 20 pounds you are going to ruin your new boobs. -
Drinking with meals
OutsideMatchInside replied to PAguy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
A sip or 2 isn't going to hurt, especially if you feel like something is stuck and you weigh all of your portions. If you are straight up drinking what @blizair09 said it totally correct. In general, it is a terrible habit to start, because long term you will be able to eat more and you can use drinking while eating to binge eat. -
Someone help me.
OutsideMatchInside replied to AmandaWho's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is not normal. You need to contact your Dr and have them work with you on while you are only able to get so little in per day. You could have a complication. It is better to have the Dr validate where you should be than strangers on the internet. -
Upping Calories/Fat on Pureed Phase
OutsideMatchInside replied to Kat410's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you are getting your protein in, I wouldn't modify anything. The amount of time you are going to lose 1-2 lbs a day is going to be pretty short. Take advantage of it. -
Fruit is just sugar with fiber. Natural sugar but sugar. Grapes are pretty high glycemic index, at 59, they are almost the same as ice cream which is 62. The sugar content of fruit also varies wildly based on how ripe it is. If you are going to eat fruit early on, pick some that are lower carb to avoid dumping. 5g or less of sugar per serving (you can cut your serving to hit the 5 grams) https://www.verywell.com/low-carb-fruit-list-2242528

Bypass Vs. Sleeve?
OutsideMatchInside replied to rebeccamason's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I'm single and I live alone. I chose the sleeve because of the easier recovery and lower complications. It also requires a lower level of life long maintenance. I didn't have GERD so the Sleeve was an was an easy choice. What surgery you want is really a personal choice. A couple things to consider is what surgery does your Surgeon perform the most of? That is the one they are probably skilled with the best. And then your other medical conditions. Long term they are about the same as far as weight loss, how much weight you lose is up to you. -
Endoscopic gastric sleeve Doctor In Michigan?
OutsideMatchInside replied to Butterfly512's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
He cares too much about his patients to do Endoscopic sleeves. He also still fairly new to doing sleeves, he was a big RNY doctor. -
You know even men get jealous. Most men once they are your age and are obese they never lose unless they cancer or something. I really think you need to talk to someone though. A therapist, just a couple sessions would help.
