    Clothes for immediately after surgery?

I wore a sundress home then I went back to jean shorts the next day. My incisions are all above my belly button so I could wear regular pants no issue. The only problem I had was my bra rubbing my center incision but I kept it covered and that was it.

    Help losing stomach

My stomach is where most of my weight is and it is where I lose weight first and the most. Stomach and arms, then inner thighs. The only thing you can do is to keep losing. Contrary to what the diet industry tries to tell you, you can't spot train away fat. If you build muscles you will just have hard muscles under lots of fat. Working out your lower body would help more, your largest muscles are in your legs and so working them out with weights will give you most metabolic return. If you can also increase the muscles in your hips it will give you a more hourglass figure and balance your stomach. Those new and bigger muscles will burn more fat all the time.

    Ghrelin

Until I watched my swallow test I had no idea how high up my stomach was. Hey, I'm an IT nerd, not a medical one. Once I watched the swallow test and had some conversations with my nurse was also sleeved and 2 months post op, I learned something. What I had thought was my stomach rumbling, was really my small intestines. I was feeling my stomach empty into my small intestines. If you can become aware of this is really helps in a lot of ways. You can distinguish hunger pains from digestion and you can drink more fluids by being aware of when they are emptying into your stomach. If I wasn't aware of with and able to watch it in real time on the screen with medical professionals explaining it to me, right now I would be confusing digestion with hunger. The only time ever feel "hungry" in my stomach is when I am not drinking enough Water. If you are drinking your 64 oz plus of water between meals, you will never be hungry because your stomach will always be full or close to it.

Planning for Help at Home After Surgery

My friend traveled to be with me for surgery. Before she arrived I purchased all my Protein and broth, etc. Cleaned the apartment and did laundry. Laid all my PJs out so I wouldn't have to bend over to get them. I was released at 4:30pm and my friend left the next day around noon. I was fine alone. I think not having someone to care for you makes you recover faster because you have to move around, and you need to be moving anyway. Just my opinion
  5. Doctors do it because people want it, and it is easy money with longer term follow up care. People have to get those fills, they have to get adjusted. It is simply good money. I am sure a few bands a year along pay for kids private school tuition. Doctors are going to keep doing it until they are pulled off the market.

Two Weeks Until Surgery - Suggestions on Exercise

I would keep doing cardio. I have done all my workouts in the morning on an empty stomach for a couple years. So you can definately work out on nothing. I am getting about 600-700 calories a day and I work out every morning on an empty stomach then drink a Protein shake immediately, I bring it with me. I do have issues with weights, today I was too tried to do weights after cardio, I had to stop. Make sure you stay hydrated.

    Full or Eating too fast?

My suggestion is soft baked fish like swai or cod. I season it and bake it in the oven with a spray of coconut oil and seasonings, in a parchment paper pocket. That is what I lived on with Protein shakes. Measure/weigh it though. Start with 2oz and work your way up. My fullness is in my chest where my stomach is, never had any back pains.

Interesting article on protein + recipes!

These have some solid advice, but I can't eat enough of these foods to benefit from the protein, with the exception of salmon. Fish I can eat 3 oz in 20 minutes. I can barely finish an egg though. Hats off to the people that can get all their protein from food, but I don't have time to eat 10 times a day to accomplish that.

    How long was hospital stay?

I was admitted at noon, checked out 4:30pm the next day.
  12. I debated working out also, because with calories so low I thought it would throw me into starvation mode. I changed my mind for 2 reasons. I work from home and I get very little organic activity. No walking around an office or walking feom the parking lot. I have to chose to be active. Then there is constipation, being active helps keep you regular. I work out as soon as I get up or it won't happen. I wake up put on on my gym clothes. Take the dog out. Go to the gym. If I tried to go in the afternoon or evening I would never make it.

    Tummy bump help?!

The ones I liked are very firm. If you have an Avenue store near you, you can try them on there Since you wear your own bra, it flattens eveything and pushed your breasts up and out.

Yeah benefiber did not work for me at all
  15. I was stalled for a week or so. Then right after the 3 week mark I started doing 33 minutes on the elliptical 5 days a week, I lost 10lbs in the past week. I went to the gym 2 days the previous week and everyday this week. I go to the gym as soon as I wake up and work out on an empty stomach drinking water the whole time, then I drink my protein shake on the way home. I have a recovery shake I drink.

    2 Weeks Post-Op...CRAVINGS!

When I was on my 10 day liquid diet I had a dream about a ribeye and a baked potato. In the dream they were the best ever on the planet. It was so vivid. Anyone is going to have cravings and dreams about food if they have essentially been on liquid for a month. The one thing I noticed about my cravings is they never translated to my stomach and cause me to be ravenously hungry like they would have in the past. That is when I knew my sleeve was really working, and that made me really satisfied with my choice. I see a lot of people licking foods, chewing and spitting food out just to get the taste etc. That is a path to eating disorders and I am recovering from one eating disorder (binge eating), I am not going to start the path to another. I do understand that other people have more temptations. I live alone, there are no bad foods in my home. I do not work in an office, I work from home. There is no one eating around me, and temping me. The only place I go every day is the gym, and everyone there is drinking Water and Protein shakes just like me. When I really want meat I drink the organic lamb broth from Whole Foods with unflavored Protein powder in it. That solves my craving. It is the ONLY store bought broth I have found with flavor.

4 days post op... I am hungry?!

I liked the live leak test, it helped me understand my sleeve and anatomy better. The drink just tasted like normal medicine. Thanks for the practice information. http://www.tristatebariatrics.com/ The single incision looks pretty awesome. I imagine the recovery is really fast from that. I would love to see a video on how they do that. Everything about this surgery varies so much from doctor to doctor. It is kind of troubling there is no established gold standard for surgery or post-op care.

    Squats and cruches/situps

Well squats are just sitting down with no seat, so you should be able to do those. I wouldn't do any ab exercises until I was sure my stitches were all absorbed/dissolved.

4 days post op... I am hungry?!

Why not name the best doctor and hospital?
  21. I am a month out today. I was questioning my sleeve for a while. You don't feel the restriction until you start on soft foods. I am not sure if you had a swallow test or if you were able to see the results in real time. I was able to see my swallow test right in front of me. When you drink liquids, they empty into your intestines immediately, they start draining through. That is one of the many reasons you shouldn't eat and drink. Once the swelling goes down and the pain, you can drink a lot. Right now I can drink 22oz of Water in 33 minutes on the elliptical at the gym. I can reagularly drink 24oz at a time in a 30-45 minutes. All of my powder Proteins mix to the consistency of water. I can drink them in 10 minutes easily. The Premier ready are the only thicker shakes I drink if I have to grab something and go and those take me about 20 minutes. I struggle to finish one egg. I can eat about 3 oz of soft cooked white fish. When you start eating you will really notice the difference, then it is a whole different set of things to worry about.

    Question on protein

Right after surgery I could not drink cold things fast. I was able to drink warm broth with unflavored powder in it faster. Temperature can matter

Obesity! Will that word follow me to the grave :(

I'm sorry this happened to you.
  24. So I have been underestimating my Protein, fish, for the past week and a half. I finally got a scale and when I measured what I thought was 3-4 oz, it was 2.29 oz I purchased an in expensive scale from Amazon, and it is really helping me with measuring what I am really eating. Especially since sometimes I measure out an amount food and do not eat it all. This scale has an option that you can weigh an empty bowl, set that to zero, then measure with whatever is in it. Then after you are done, you can measure again and measure what is left. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004164SRA?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00 If you are new to these smaller portions, I really suggest a scale so you can accurately track what you are eating.

    Period problems

@ You know I didn't even think about it, but my stall was with my period. My period is still regular and I have a copper IUD. We will see if it changes, but I have never had lady issues. Light to moderate periods, regular, with no cramps.
