I would tell myself to relax and not to spend so much money stocking up on things. I have a cabinet full of broth.
I work for myself, so I did not take any time off work really. I did some extra work the weeks before surgery, but i was back at my desk working for short periods my 2nd day home from the hospital. If I had a normal office job, I think I would have needed a week or 2 off, just because your energy levels are not the same and you get tired very quickly early on.
I only told 3 friends that live out of state. They have all responded positively. They don't ask me about my weigh loss, which I live. I share my progress when I feel like it and they are supportive. I am really happy with this choice to tell people. I have lost weight a lot of times over the years. Everyone knows I low carb, so right now losing weight is not a big mystery to people around me. I always workout and walk everyday. My weight loss is not so rapid to raise alarms. It appears pretty normal. I know it is faster and easier than normal (no hunger).
If you adjust the way you think about food, you won't miss things. Right now my favorite food is baked fish, because it goes down easy and it digests easy. I can have lots of other things but that is the most comforting because it causes me no discomfort and I can feel my restriction without feeling restricted. I don't dump and I have not thrown up since surgery. You might find what you want post surgery is different. Plus there are lots of healthy Protein Snacks. And you can bake and cook healthy. This is an example of something healthy you can have later on eatmeguiltfree.com they have blondies and browns that are 22g of protein. They are pretty delicious. You can make "icing" for them with Protein powder. You don't have to miss out, you just have to adjust your thinking.
