    Weight loss

I didn't lose much the first month, well really the first 6 weeks. Once I could eat regular food, my weight loss picked up and I lost the bulk of my weight the 2nd and 3rd month. Also I think it has something to do with your set point. Previously i was losing and gaining that same weight over and over. When I got the point that was the lowest I had got in the few years before surgery, I was stuck there for like 2 weeks. Then once I got past that point, the weight has been falling off.

    Shoes!

I wear 4-5 inch heels. I could do it when I was at 370, but I couldn't wear them as long, certainly couldn't last all day. Now I can wear my heels all day/evening. My wedge sneakers are more comfortable. Everything is just less stress. It doesn't matter what your weight is, if you can't get used to walking on the balls of your feet, heels are always going to hurt.

"Categorically Excluded" - Did I assume wrong?

Alabama is a state that WLS surgery is not considered an essential service. They don't have to cover it by state law, so they won't. http://nofusa.org/news/health-insurance-cover-obesity-treatment/
  6. I didn't know how many stretch marks my stomach had, now that it is shrinking they are all out on display!

I've got some Bio-Oil, but I've been really lazy about keeping up a regime of using it.

I have really dry skin so I already have a regime of moisturizing. I use it every day right after my shower.

I got some MSM lotion to layer over my almond oil, hopefully that helps.

  7. Also, calling the diet BS and unfair is why you are getting some of these responses. It not like you don't get to see the diet before surgery and make an educated decision. You made this choice, now you have to live with it. Once you get on soft foods everything is better.
  8. Are you mentally hungry or physically hungry? If it is head hunger, find something to occupy your time. If it is physical hunger, are you taking acid medication? You aren't going to want to eat bread or Pasta. I mean you can try at some point later on but you are going to find they aren't as delicious or feel as good as they used to. They are likely to sit on your new stomach like a rock and make you miserable. 6 months might seem long, but I am 4 months out, and the time flies. I am not even sure what you mean by the diet being "fair".
  9. I would say ask your surgeon about you personally. I talked to my Dr about some of the things in my books and all the Drs in the whole group/hospital use the same book. So people who are having DS or RNY are getting the same book as someone with the sleeve. They make it the same so it makes the pre-op classes and stuff easier. I found though asking questions, things can be different with the sleeve.

    PRE-OP LIQUID DIET CHEATER

Try Overeaters Anonymous. Or at least read the book. It helps, you learn all the coping skills.
  11. Have soup. If you have to suck it up and eat mashed potatoes. I'd dodge Christmas and use work as an excuse or something.

Ideas for ready made stuff I can buy to eat?

You can bake swai fish, it is basically fool proof. If you really want to be healthy it is better to cook for yourself so you know exactly what you are eating.

    Nauseated

Make sure you call your Dr ASAP. They should have an after hours number.

    Fertile Myrtle?

You should talk to your Dr, but I wouldn't trust and oral contraceptive after Bypass. Does your Gyn know you had surgery?

    Incision scars

Almost all of mine are invisible except the one cut that was right across a large stretch mark, it turned dark but it is starting to lighten. I used these http://www.drugstore.com/products/prod.asp?pid=414081&catid=287261&aid=338666&aparam=414081&kpid=414081&CAWELAID=120142990000030793&CAGPSPN=pla I cut them in half and kept them on almost all day and a strong put Vitamin E oil on at night. I'm 3.5 months out. I am pretty sure by 6 months you won't even be able to see them.

Work with your doctor on getting your GERD under control. That will go a long way to helping you feel better about your decision.

Who wants some brownies? I do! I do!

I like these. http://www.eatmeguiltfree.com/products/chocolate-brownie-12-pack-box Sweets aren't really a thing and chocolate isn't either but when you get tired of Protein shake and Quest bars they are a nice change of pace. I like that that they are portion controlled.

  19. What are your tricks to remember or to motivate yourself to eat?
  20. OutsideMatchInside

    When you have no appetite/hunger...

I meet my Protein goals every day and I take all my Vitamins. I'm trying to keep the pretty I have. So I'm not starving myself by any means. Lately I have been busy and I have to supplement with Protein shakes at the end of the day. I don't have a set schedule and I am rarely around people that are eating. My apps reminds me to log my food and that helps some days, but I lately I just don't care about food. I get really into work and don't eat, this is something I did before and I don't want to go down that road again.
  21. @@Runner1 I can tell you what my program was but every program is different But basically you start at 2 oz and work your way up. Since you were just sleeved this month, 2oz might be easier at this point. The important thing is to always measure your food, so you aren't over eating or stressing your stomach.
  22. Tuna is also dry and harder to process. Maybe a softer fish would be easier. If you measure your food out and are eating a proper portion size and it takes longer than 30 minutes that isn't bad, not early on. The time limit is just there to try and stop you from eating all day.
  23. Giving up all my clothes is really crushing my soul in a way that is surprising me.

If I wore suits for work, I would get clothes tailored since suits are expensive. I work from home and I haven't worn a suit for year in years. It is just more cost effective to buy new clothes. I had a freak out moment earlier because I have a date and realized I have nothing to wear for my date :)

I know this feeling. Most of my current wardrobe consists of jeans, yoga pants and sweatshirt jackets. On very short notice my son asked us to go to his best friends wedding so my granddaughter would not have to sit alone. (He was best man and seated at head table) I had to run out and find clothes suitable for a wedding. That was about 6 weeks ago and the gorgeous slacks I bought are now too big. Gah!

Of course i was in between sizes and had to go up a size so I knew this would happen to me.

I have two huge Kohl's bags filled to the brim, just sitting taking up space in my sewing room. The idea of getting rid of them freaks me out, though.

    Anyone try jalapeños peppers?

I have hot sauce and hot wings all the time, no issues at all. I am a sleeve patient though, no idea what its like for RNY patients.

    60 grams protein?

At soft foods I started on baked fish.
