    Bypass vs sleeve

Mind if I ask where you got this info from? It's actually gastric bypass that has the earliest roots in surgery dating back to the 1960's and has evolved to the safest track record. The first sleeve wasn't performed until 1988 and has evolved since then. Not trying to nit-pick, just seeing what information is being published that I may not be aware of. https://asmbs.org/resources/story-of-obesity-surgery http://bariatrictimes.com/the-history-of-sleeve-gastrectomy/ Look up gastrectomy. They have been doing them on ulcer, cancer patients and wounded war vets long before weight loss surgery. You can live without a stomach entirely. Removing part it all of the stomach and people still living long lives was known long before they decided to do it for weight loss. The surgery concept itself is not new at all. Large numbers of people being so fat that they need surgical intervention is.

    Cards when eating in restaurants?

I have one. I never use it. I order appetizers or some small. I don't get to go boxes ever. When a meal is over that food is over.

    Bypass vs sleeve

You really need to read and research yourself. My opinion is this. You can lose with either. You can regain and never meet goal with either. People with bypass regain all the time and lots never meet goal. They are both tools and you can eat around them. I know someone through professional work connections who had bypass. Did great the first 1.5 years. Met a guy started eating more then stopped working out. Never got to goal and started regaining. Don't choose bypass just because of dumping as an incentive not to eat wrong because everyone doesn't dump and even those that do, your intestines can adapt over time and it won't be as effective. I chose sleeve because I was already active and portion control was my issue. I didn't want my intestines touched. The sleeve has been performed for around 100 years for stomach issues not related to weight loss. It has the longest track record as a safe surgery that people can a long time with. Since I am still a young person, it made the most sense to me. Read research and decide for yourself. Short term the bypass has better results but long term the results end up being the same and the reason why is it depends on the person really changing their life and their habits.

please share the microwave in a cup protein recipe

Doesn't microwaving the protein and heating it kill the protein? Like most high quality proteins are processed at low heat to keep the protein integrity.

What does it feel like right afterwards?

The only reason I felt light we because I had been starved on the pre-op diet and was running on air. 10 days of liquids with the last day being clear liquids will make you feel light as a feather. Other than that. Just sore. I really had almost no pain. If I hadn't seen my sleeve on screen I would have never believed it. The gas pain in my shoulder on the later days was the worse.
  6. 7 or 8 weeks. It only took that long because of summer vacations of various professionals delaying pre-op tests.

The Learning Curve of a New Pouch

At 6 weeks an egg was a whole meal for me. I wouldn't eat bread out. You probably could have had move chicken salad without eating the other things. Chicken salad is moist so you can eat a decent amount

    Alcohol and Weightloss

When I read 3000 calories a day and a tracker I knew it was BMR plus exercise they all give you the daily total and the exercise break out. All the people like toss you tracker, really? Do you understand the apps? The alcohol is probably temp dehydrating you and flushing your system when it converts to sugar. I don't think drinking on the weekends is a sustainable weight loss method though. Why is everyone so damn angry in this thread?

    NSV shout outs

Sat in the booth at Waffle House and had tons of room to spare. It used to be a tight squeeze. Also setup a new laptop, and it actually fit on my lap, very comfortably.
  10. Today is my 6 month Anniversary, I forgot until just now. I went from wearing tight size 28 jeans to comfortably wearing size 18 jeans. I'm not huge anymore I am just regular midwestern fat and it feels great :)

I hope you don't end up looking gaunt...

I eat sushi, the rice is on the outside and I don't eat the seaweed wrap, I just eat the center. No one cares. I have been a low carber off and on for 16 years. I know how to cut the carbs out of eating almost anything. People can easily get through life after surgery not telling people about surgery, and I still think privacy is the best policy. They only way I am telling a guy at this point is we are really going to share our lives together, and get married. When I share my credit rating and investment portfolio.

Any validity for multiple fitbit units ?

All the apps and the website. They know people have more than one device and they want them to work together. For example I have a flex, I like it because I can change the bands for it and wear it with evening wear even, because i have some high end jewelry bracelet holder for it. I was going to get one of the more advanced Fitbits like the Charge HR or the Surge for serious workouts, but there are so new wearables out, and more coming this spring so I think I am breaking up with fitbit except for sleep tracking, which isn't as important to me now . I got a smart watch because it has more utility, I can leave the house and leave my phone behind and still get emails, texts and calls. I can play music from my watch etc. I think my next fitness wearable might be... https://www.atlaswearables.com/

    HELP! Cant stop eating!

Eating sweets is triggering your brain to eat more. I bet if you cut sweet things like sweet potatoes and watermelon out, you wouldn't be as hungry all the time.

    HELP! Cant stop eating!

I'm at about the same weeks out you are, I am probably 26 or 27. I have a lot of issues with head hunger at this point. I do not have physical hunger though, it is all in my head. Since I can eat more things with little to no discomfort, I just want to eat more. I wasn't going nuts or grazing but I realized head hunger was becoming an issue. So I restricted myself to get control. I log my food always but I log my food and I think about my goals. I think about summer every single time I want to eat something and I debate if it will help me meet my summer goal. Also drinking fluids all day will keep the hunger at bay and keep you satisfied l. I drink unsweetened hot tea in various varieties and flavors all day. It helps. Right now I am doing 2 shakes and one Protein meal a day (fish ). It has really helped me. I have a few low carb high protein Snacks. I have a chart that estimates what my weight loss will be if I stick to my plan, it is a keto calculator. I look at that and think about that goal when I think about giving in to head hunger. Not having physical hunger and being satisfied on very few calories is a luxury most people do not have. I'm not going to blow it by caving to my cravings. Think of your goals and focus on those. You can do it, you just have to decide what matters and find a way to work with yourself. Your way might not be my way, but you can do it.
  15. There are people that never get out of the 200s with bypass. Or regain. It isn't about the tool it is about the person. If you don't commit to life changes you will either regain or never get to goal.

Oh Lordy me ... a new NSV !

The car is really where I notice my weight loss the most. So much room in my bucket seats, had to move the seat forward, barely feel the seat belt. Congrats!

Any validity for multiple fitbit units ?

They updated the phone app a few months ago to support multiple trackers. I use my fitbit at night to track my sleep and I wear my smart watch during the day.

    Trader Joe's frozen riced cauliflower

If you can find it in stores it is awesome. It sells out though, the day it delivers. I have made riced cauliflower in the food processor, but it is such a pain to clean the processor, this is the better solution.

    July sleevers?

I'm doing well. It is harder to fight head hunger now, since I can tolerate more things. I still don't have physical hunger so that is nice. I'm down 88 lbs as of today. Working out, walking, and doing yoga.

    Sisters's "Concerned" Speech! LOL

I wouldn't consider a man at 220lbs and 6ft tall obese if he had decent muscle mass. I went to a D1 college, a guy that size isn't that uncommon.

I feel like I've hit the lottery

Yeah, I kind of feel like I have won the lottery also. I just feel so much better overall. All of it isn't related to weight loss. I made a lot of changes before I lost weight. I'm so happy and content in my life that I already feel like a billionaire, actually probably better than a billionaire because I have very little stress in my life.

    What’s Your Attitude Towards Carbs?

Some people have other things in life that are more important than food and calories. Especially to the point of having them memorized. I haven't been a fan of carbs for about 15 years. I find that my body and my mind run better on very few carbs. I get my carbs in from veggies and the occasional sugar alternative and that is about it. I have never liked crackers, cold Cereal, Pasta or rice. I did love French fries and that is something I just have to remove from my diet and mind entirely, including sweet potatoes. I used to do atkins. I found keto a few years ago and I like running on healthy fats and grass fed/organic meat.
  24. If eating the wrong foods and not portion control are really your issue, bypass might be a better option. Once most people heal from the sleeve you can eat almost anything.

Any sleevers in St. Louis, mo

I had my surgery at DesPeres. The hospital staff is really supportive. Some of the nurses have had surgery so they understand. I was in the hospital about 26 hours. No complications, great recovery. I recommend MyNewSelf, if you want a fast smooth process.
