Internal Integrity
OutsideMatchInside replied to reree6898's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I don't really like the idea of associating integrity with how people eat. It is like saying overweight people have no integrity. Just like calling them lazy, sloppy, sloths and all the other words. Eating the right food isn't the same thing as not cheating on a math test. People HAVE to eat to live, there is no way to just go cold turkey on it. I feel like this line of thinking is just another way people beat themselves up. -

@@lisaannedp My blood pressure was never as high as yours I think the highest it was like 141 over 90 or something like that. They gave me meds but the meds made me so sleepy I couldn't function. I stopped taking them and quit drinking coffee. I don't really suggest that people stop taking their blood pressure meds. All of this happened in a short time period. Blood pressure meds in April, first WLS Appt in May, Surgery mid July. Literally when I got home from picking up the blood pressure meds, I found and went to a meeting for WLS the next day, and met the surgeon 2 weeks later. Then I had surgery within 8 weeks of my first surgeon appointment. My blood pressure is normal now, it has been for months. Prior to having high blood pressure, my pressure was always on the low side, which is why the high blood pressure freaked me out so bad.

@@lisaannedp We are the same height and my start BMI was 60. My BMI is 45 now and I have lost 92 lbs in 6 months. I am only 1/2 way to where I want to be but honestly if I never lost another pound, I would consider my surgery a success. My clothing option are improved. My mobility is improved (I didn't even realize how limited it was getting). There are too many little differences that losing a 100lbs brings that I can't really list them. Like you I wasn't an unhappy fat person. I worked with and around my weight. I too had my own seat belt extender for planes. If like you, I didn't start having blood pressure problems, I doubt I would have ever looked into WLS surgery. I love food and I would rather snarf down cheesecake and eat beef wellington than eat baked fish and be thin. However, popping pills like a granny and having multiple medical issues is a not and option if it can be prevented, so WLS was the solution. I don't regret a moment of it, and I haven't since surgery. The changes are worth the result.

Flourless Pancakes - Amazing
OutsideMatchInside replied to Miss Mac's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
The bananas are too many carbs for me. I use 1 oz cream cheese 1 egg pinch of cinnamon a little sweetener of choice Whip it in a bullet and you get 3 small pancakes. -

Ok now I understand why people get angry about not getting compliments. I video chatted with a friend I haven't talked to in over a year. I have easily lost 100lbs since they last saw me on cam, not one comment on my weight loss
LOL

I had a horse trainer where I used to board my horses for like 15 years. She saw me yo-yo for many years. I saw her this fall after losing 80 pounds and she never said anything. This is the same woman that asking me in a riding lesson with another adult when I was going to lose weight. It led to an epic fight that lasted half an hour and trapping the other poor student in the ring since we were in front of the only gate. Some people are just self centered. Sorry you went through that too.

Some people don't want to draw attention to the fact you've lost weight, in case it is embarrassing.. or perhaps they never "saw" the weight..

Did you keep your surgery a secret?
OutsideMatchInside replied to readyforachange84's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Well you have already told enough people that it isn't a secret anymore or it won't stay a secret. Someone is going to start blabbing sooner or later. Don't think about it as a weight loss thing, think of it as a health thing, that makes it a lot easier to tell people to go $#@# themselves for their negative comments. Honestly it is no ones business what you do with you body and I don't understand why people feel entitled to the information. -

I started at a higher weight than you but in my first 8 weeks I lost 28 pounds and I remember thinking it as slow, especially since I wasn't eating much. Then when got to 12 weeks I started losing pretty rapidly, at 6 months I was down 90lbs. 8 weeks out you are still healing. I'm also not sure working out 6 hours a week in the pool and making that huge of a calorie deficit is helping you at this point. I was going to gym and my weight loss was slow, As soon as I stopped and went to walking 60 minutes a day, my weight loss picked up. You didn't post your macros, grams of Protein, carbs, and fat, so it is hard to give food advice without it, or daily calories. You might want to cut back on all that cheese though, that is more cheese than I eat in a week. -
Almost a year out and only lost 64lbs
OutsideMatchInside replied to branlee90's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
If I keep my carbs under 30, I lose about a 1lb a day. The kind of fruit you eat really matters. Bananas are full of carbs, while berries have fewer carbs. Here is a list of low carb items, if you eat fruit, try to pick from the fruits on this list. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1kg5tJVTEqlHJTFiQ64ORQ0P6s3qEnjALPVFI_rIuW7I/edit#gid=0 Also tracking everything is really important. If your nutrition isn't right, your cardio won't matter. You can't out train a bad diet. -
Making Lists! - Things you wished you had in the hospital or at home after surgery!
OutsideMatchInside replied to Jenkins's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
A good hospital is going to provide everything you need. The only things I used was cell phone, cell phone charger, chapstick, face wash, toner, face moisturizer. I find of wish I rented a recliner for the first 2 weeks at home it would have been more comfortable. Although I had no problems sleeping in my bed and slept on my stomach the 3rd or 4th night. -
Why is it so hard to down water?!
OutsideMatchInside replied to cal2okl's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
It gets easier every month. I am 6 months out. I can't chug 16oz in one breathe like I used to be able to but I can drink 8oz of water in probably 5-10 minutes now. If I sip continuously I can drink forver. The key I think is the water temp which varies by person. For me I can drink room temp water easily and quickly, ice water, not so much. The same with hot tea, I can drink hot tea very fast, downing 8 oz in 5 or 10 minutes. -
@@saraburnett This is the thigh shaper I wear http://www.hanes.com/onehanesplace/womens-shapewear/shapewear-brands/maidenform-shapers/flexees-thigh-slimmer-m2355 With this, which they don't have on the hanes site right now http://www.avenue.com/en_US/wyob-dream-torsette-230122660.html?dwvar_230122660_color=101#start=5&cgid=intimates-shapewear I wear the Torsette on first, then put the thigh shaper over it. Before I lost weight the Torsette use to roll up all the time, but i can wear it alone now and it doesn't roll up (because it actually fits right). If you have back rolls it is great at smoothing them out and it pushes your boobs up and out, while flattening your stomach at the same time. Lots of stores carry these and you can find them cheap. Walmart, Target, Kohls,JcPenney. Once I get to a stable size I might get some spanx, but that is a long time for now, I am losing about a size or more a month, no reason to spend that much on something that will soon be obsolete.

The truth is, I failed

I just wanted to add, please try swai fish. it is very light and moist. It has a very very light fish taste. It is almost just pure Protein. I sprinkle it with lemon and garlic, and bake, sometimes with a little ghee, sometimes just plain. It has a super high moisture content, it almost turns to mush as soon as you start chewing it. You can use it to meet your protein goals and not feel overly full. -
I buy maidenform flexees. They are always on sale. And even when you go down a size, they still can be worn when you don't need to be super tucked. I wear my old ones around the house and they help smooth me out and if I am getting dressed to go out I wear my new. Even 2 sizes down the old ones still offer some control. I have the firm control long leg and the wear your own bra torsoette. They go on sale often and you can get them for 1/2 the price of spanx

Drinks that are not carbonated?
OutsideMatchInside replied to m.sexton's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I drink plain Water most of the time. Experiment with the water temperature, warmer or cold until you find a temp you can tolerate. I drink unsweetened hot tea basically all day right now to keep hunger at bay and stay warm. If I want a flavor or something sweet, I drink water with water drops. They are stevia flavored water drops. Raspberry lemonade is my favorite -
For Those at Least 8 Weeks Out - How Much Food is Your Sleeve Holding?
OutsideMatchInside replied to Pea523's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
At 8 weeks I was really just eating Protein. 6 oz of fish and 3 oz of any other meat, 4oz of lobster. Around that time I had fish 4 times a day so I didn't have to take Protein shakes, because I was tired of them. With fish I could eat enough to meet my protein goals and not have to supplement. -

African American vsgers!
OutsideMatchInside replied to theshrinkingdutchess's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
They are attached with surgical glue, they can't come off and they won't interfere with any equipment they use. You just can't have any metal on your body, your nails need to be bare, no makeup. If your lashes are done the right way no one will even be bale to tell you have them on. I miss mine, might have to get them back soon. When I had my surgery I had a partial sew-in, no issues. I'm natural also and so is the texture of my weave. I kept it in a pineapple bun on the top of my head the whole time. -

I have been to every state in the Union and several countries in the world. What I said is only offensive if you want it to be, and that certainly wasn't my intention. Are we really going to pretend that obesity and diabetes are not epidemics in those areas? And deny actual facts just to get huffy? -

Do you like seafood? I eat mostly Swai, Crab and lobster. Swai is my favorite because it is cheap, high moisture, very soft and barely any fish taste.
