Has anyone lost 100+ pounds?
OutsideMatchInside replied to provenzee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I didn't lose a lot on pre-op. Less than 10lbs mainly because it was like 100 degrees with 110% humidity when I was on it and I was retaining a ton of water. I am 6.3 months out and down 93 pounds. Hoping to lose another 70ish pounds before 1 year mark. -

How Do You Like to Be Complimented?
OutsideMatchInside replied to Inner Surfer Girl's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I am interested in what the responses are. No one in my immediate area knows I had surgery, so I don't have the backhanded compliment issue. -
What, specifically, caused you to become obese?
OutsideMatchInside replied to careya123's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Stressful relationship with my mom. Kids can't drink scotch, so I ate food. I was never an obese kid, just a little overweight, but learning early to eat your feelings and hold them in instead of expressing them, just carried over into adulthood. As an adult, I kept eating my feelings, the good and the bad ones. -
Big Clothes - Must turn the corner now!
OutsideMatchInside replied to fly-high's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I got all my clothes together and took them to goodwill, all of them, in the matter of a day or 2. It hurt because I had a lot of nice pieces but it felt great. I didn't keep one damn thing and I don't intend to keep anything. When I drop a size, I chuck all the stuff from the previous size. There is no going back and I want myself to mentally know that. I have enough before pictures of myself, and enough memories that I don't need to keep material things around as a reminder. I think it is an important mental and spiritual milestone to get rid of the old clothes all the told clothes. The friend that taught me this trick lost 200lbs without surgery and kept it off for years. I value their advice. Leave yourself no options to relapse and keep looking towards the future. -
What hoops did you have to jump through before surgery?
OutsideMatchInside replied to careya123's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My heart seems irregular and I has to have an EKG, a stress test and finally a cardiac cath, all for them to tell me my heart was normal . I had all those things completed in about 4 weeks. It took me 8 weeks from first Dr visit to surgery. If you have an open schedule to setup pre-op testing appointments you can move the process very fast if all you have to do is testing. If you have a job you have to work around, I don't know how people do it. -
Sleeve and sushi?
OutsideMatchInside replied to meganliz0824's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have had sushi 2x since surgery. It is amusing that it fills me up now, I was always annoyed with it before because it wasn't filling. I don't eat the rice. I suggest not eating the rice. You still need all your room for Protein. Enjoy the flavors skip the rice. -
Surgery Monday. I'm about to back out!
OutsideMatchInside replied to frankenstein's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 6 months out from surgery but I am going give you some honest answers about where I am right now. I drink sooner than an hour after food. One reason is usually for me my food has emptied my stomach, for the most part what I eat doesn't sit in my stomach very long unless I have beef. I also eat my portions and not more, and I am not hungry. Yes you should wait an hour, but that won't always be the case, it definitely doesn't matter if you only had liquid for dinner. I don't go nuts chewing my food. I mostly eat things that are pretty soft anyway so it isn't necessary. The only time I have to make sure I really chew is if I have beef. I can almost guzzle water now. I can't chug 16 ounces at a time like I used to in one breathe, but after you have healed more at 3-4 months you can take bigger gulps closer together. I have no issue with drinking maybe 4 ounces in 30-60 seconds. It depends on the temp though. There is other alcohol in life besides beer. TLDR, the things that I thought were going to annoy me the most, chewing and drinking, at 6 months at a huge issue. I imagine at a year it won't even matter. -

how many calories at 6 months post op
OutsideMatchInside replied to mataz78's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am 6 months, if I don't watch closely, I can easily do 1200-1300 calories without trying that hard. My goal is 750-850 a day, with 2 days allowed up to 1200. I was losing really fast at the end of last year and getting super flabby, so I went up to 1000-1200 to slow it down a little so my skin could catch up a little. At 750-850 calories, I lose 3-5lbs a week. -
I run my own business. I told my surgeon I was not giving up coffee. At first tour stomach is sensitive, so drink some high quality low acid coffee. Once you are further out, you can tolerate regular coffee better. When I first added coffee back, I used cold brew coffee ice and unflavored Protein powder.

Will anything ever taste good again?
OutsideMatchInside replied to theladyslipper's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My taste buds never changed. When you can eat real food it will taste so delicious. The unjury Protein is probably the least flavorful protein powder I have had. The chicken soup tastes good, but anything with 1/2 a days worth of salt is going to taste good. Adding fruit means adding sugar. I mean one frozen strawberry to shakes isn't a big deal but if you add a lot of fruit you are just adding sugar. Syntrax Nectars taste very good and they have a variety of flavors. My favorite post op because I couldn't have coffee was Cappuccino. The lemon aid is okay, the strawberry is delicious and so is Caribbean cooler. -

Lets talk scales....
OutsideMatchInside replied to Nurse_Lenora's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I recently purchased this scale http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001KXZ808/ref=s9_al_bw_g121_i2 My older scale was not accureate anymore, I could step on it 4 times in 2 minutes and get a different weight every time. If you have wood floors that are not perfectly level, then I really suggest the above linked scale, it perfectly balances itself when you step on it, and that is why it is accurate. I wish I purchased it sooner. I debated getting an Aria or a Withings scale for the extra features and that still may happen, but right now I am in love with how accurate this scale is. It also includes a tape measure that helps you take you own measurements. It works great also. -
Those Drs on Skin Tight are terrible though. They are not a good example of what plastic surgery can do for you.

I wear a thigh shaper almost all the time. It seems like I am losing weight in my thighs and the most I lose the bigger that fat roll at the top looks. The skin on my thighs however doesn't seem like it has lost all elasticity like my stomach or my arms. I have hope for my thighs overall, just the inner thigh at the top seems hopeless, I think it has taken too much abuse from thigh rub. I have friends with beach homes, so I am going to get my legs and arms fixed for sure if I have to. I plan on freeloading at every beach and lake house I can.

@@AvaFern Yeah I am already researching doctors and planning on a thigh lift and arm lift as top priorities.

Any Missouri people
OutsideMatchInside replied to betterme38's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
They are in Missouri and they guys that own Supplement Superstore also own Formula 1. it is expensive, although it only seems expensive because Syntrax is so cheap there (I pay 27.99 for Syntrax and the Formula 1 was I think 42). Some of their flavors are really good though, and it has BCAA already in it and it still tastes good.I was adding a BCAA powder to my drinks and it adds a terrible taste, so something that already has it was a nice change. It also mixes very easy and is very thin. That isn't important for me now, but right after surgery it was great. They taste better than Syntrax and Syntrax tastes great to me, but Formula 1 is just a little better. If cost is an issue, Syntrax is like 12-15 cheaper a container. If you want a change of pace or a treat go for it. Also even though it is owned by the company, they don't push it above other products. What i like about Supplement Superstore is when you go in and tell them your needs, they show you all your options, make suggestions, but don't go for the hard sell. -
I look small for my weight...
OutsideMatchInside replied to Kgmz0219's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The thing about carrying your weight well is you carry it really well until one day you don't anymore. The weight, age and gravity catch up to you eventually. I carried my weight really well for a long time, then I was huge. -
Yeah I know it depends on a lot of things. I just wanted to ask. 100lbs down and it looks like it is going to be a disaster area.
