I used to think my goal of losing 180 to 200 lbs was impossible. Now I am down over 100 lbs in less than 7 months it seems like that goal is obtainable. Not only is it obtainable, but I have been able to get here without feeling like I am starving and without trying to kill myself in the gym. I am very hopeful for the future. Also, I feel mostly normal. I can drink Water pretty fast now which makes it must easier to meet my water goals each day.

Mediterranean Style Eating
OutsideMatchInside replied to JupiterinVirgo's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Has the OP ever even came back? We have the random trolls that come here, post a buncha garbage and never show back up to respond to people or defend their points. When I first saw the title of this thread I thought it was actually about Mediterranean style eating, but instead it is about being vegetarian. Vegetarians don't offend me, I like Vegan food, and I understand the thought behind it. Growing up with a native american background I have a different attitude about eating animal flesh. I have no issues with OPs point of view. Just the post and dash and the no supporting numbers whatsoever. There are plenty of vegans and vegetarians who post here without sounding like they are talking down to the plebs. -
I have been thinking about nothing but Beignets for the past 3 days. I have managed to resist though.

Accurate bmi calculator
OutsideMatchInside replied to diamondrme's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Is all mathematical logic out the window for BMI calculations though? 39.99 should be rounded up to 40. I had a friend from college that wore ankle weights and a ton of heavy clothes to qualify for gastric bypass in like 2003. She ended up on a feeding tube and almost dying after surgery. -

The reason different calculators online vary is because some start metric and convert, which creates a rounding error. -
2 weeks out and only lost 10 pounds
OutsideMatchInside replied to ad5707's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
While you are healing don't expect to lose a ton of weight. Most people don't lose a lot in the beginning. The people that do just shout about it the loudest. 10lbs at your start weight is pretty normal. -

How many clear liquids can you consume without discomfort?
OutsideMatchInside replied to provenzee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would stop drinking at least 30 minutes before bed. If you are having acid issues laying down with a stomach full of fluid can cause you some issues. -
Fat Doctor

Well you can keep your band for years. The balloon only lasts a short time. I don't think you are supposed to have it longer than 6 months. As soon as it comes out people are going to gain. -
Sigh.. The stall kills

Fiber powder made all my constipation issues worse when I was early out. The only real way to get thing moving is to really increase your Water. Also there is no shame in a stool softener. 1200 calories is a lot of calories to just get 80 grams of Protein. I can easily get 90 grams of protein for less than 800 calories, plus my carbs and fat. If you aren't losing as fast as you want, try to your protein to carbs be 3 to 1. -
Fat Doctor

I feel like in a couple years there is going to be a huge blowback on the ballon. It is such an easy out patient procedure. It is being used as a complete money grab in the US. I think it would be perfect for a lot of the patients on 600lb life, but I doubt Dr Now will want them to have to crutch to lose for surgery since he wants them to prove they are ready for surgery. Watching fat doctor and comparing it to 600lb pound life is like an example of what is wrong with the tough love approach. They don't do tough love on Fat Doctor and I feel they have better responses and outcomes. The patients seems happier and less demoralized. I really don't like Dr Now. -

I forgot, one thing I found interesting about fat doctor is it is the first I had seen and heard of the ballon. They just use the ballon to help people get ready for other perm surgeries. They don't use it as a weight loss solution like it is being sold in the US. -

Hulu has the whole series. They do a lot of sleeves near the end, if I remember correctly. Yeah they are never going to put 5 on youtube. -

Get the lumps out, take the reduction now. If you have issues later, cross that bridge when you get to it. You can always have a revision and/or implants. -

I mix cold brew coffee, ice and unflavored protein powder and a little half and half for protein shakes sometimes. So, yes -

Cuban coffee and breves. Espresso machine. Espresso coffee. Typically french roast. Nut has not mentioned protein supplements. Apparently this program expects everyone to do it with food. 60-70 grams of protein a day via 5 meals. You can't eat food in the very beginning with most programs. You start off on liquids and move to purees then soft foods. In these stages you usually have Protein shakes to supplement your protein intake. There are protein sources that do not have sweeteners but you need to research it. If you love coffee, I would start looking into cold brew for post op. At least in the beginning. The acid from brewed coffee can be a bit much early on. I can handle it now no issues, but not in the beginning. -

Shoe size?
OutsideMatchInside replied to jhclikesshopping@gmail.com's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wore heels when I was 350. My feet would hurt after a couple hours and most of the next day. Now i can wear heels all day. My feet hurt after maybe 8 or 9 hours and as soon as i take the shoes off the pain ends. I have long feet, always have, runs in the family. Went from wides back to medium. Mught end up in a narrow, but I hope not, they are as big a pain as wides. -

What coffe do you drink and how do you brew it? I can drink a high quakity coffee brewed cold with no sweetener very easy. If you can't have artificial sweetners, what are you going to use for Protein supplements early on? You need to reseach and work that out. -

Once you weight loss slows a little and you get more calories, it levels off. It is a short term thing. -

Last year I want furniture for my deck. Everything rated for over 300lbs was to expensive for apartment dwelling and bulky. I went looking yesterday and i can sit in anything with arms, could not do that year, no arms. I can buy any set i want now. -
I used to fly 5 days a week for work, at around 330 lbs for years. As a business traveler I was upgraded most of the time so it was comfortable. i love being on planes, the security is annoying. I can't wait to start traveling again now that I smaller.

A lot of people hate protein shake. They aren't drinking them like they should early on. Some people have issues with pain management, so they aren't eating. Some people have children to care for and can't make the time to get their protein in. Like others said, don't compare yourself to other people. You are doing good.

how long till the swelling was gone?
OutsideMatchInside replied to Mrs_O's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Not exactly sure. I would say everything get easier each week, then week 6 is a real turning point. After that 3 months and finally at 6 months, I feel basically "normal".
