I don't know what to do about my judgmental father. He has my blood boiling lately.

Find a happy place/event in your head and when he goes off, just go to that place and block him out. Work on a plan to escape that house as soon as you can. -
Gel nails
OutsideMatchInside replied to PrincessMonsterTruck's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
As a darker person, they judge if you are pale or not by your nail beds. I have been told this by doctors my whole life. The funny thing is my nails are so long, the oxygen thing never fit right on it anyway. They didn't make me clip my nails so it must not have been that critical. -

Bra math - don't try this at home.
OutsideMatchInside replied to Sharon1964's topic in The Gals' Room
I'm never buying more than one bra at a time until this is over. Well okay 2 bras one regular and one strapless. I went from a 48DD to a 42G. Everything is shrinking but my boobs are constant. Bras are the most annoying thing. At $60 a pop they are a pain to replace very 3 to 4 weeks -
Your stomach is basically right below your sternum and is in your chest. If the pain and noises are coming from the lower part of your rib cage, that is your intestines. Depending on what I eat, if it hits my intestines fast, my intestines don't like it.

8 wks post op need help with food question

At 8 days out I could have yogurt if I wanted. What is your plan? -
I'm vain so I enjoy looking good in clothes. However I didn't hate being fat and I didn't hate my body. If I could be fat and healthy I would be eating fried chicken right now. My health issues that were popping up made me choose to make a serious decision about my weight. I felt I was having old people problems at a young age. There are too many sacrifices to lose weight and go through surgery just to do it to be skinny or look a certain way for me personally. I bought my first item recently that wasn't plus sized. It feels great but not enough to be worth going through surgery for. Only health and quality of life made surgery worth it.

Is it up in your chest? Do you take anything for acid? The only noises I ever have are in my intestines.
-
I just wanted to add that by hungry all day I mean I want to eat all day. Even before surgery I never wanted to eat all day. I always liked to just have one meal a day really. I don't have physical hunger but some days I just feel like eating every 2 hours. I correct it with drinking lots of Water. How much water are you drinking each day?

My 600 Pound Life: 2016 Season

Dr Now is an asshole. I hate the way he talked to her. Dr Summers in the UK doesn't talk to people like that and he has better results. The woman has a child with a serious illness that she was abandoned to care for by herself and she probably blames herself for the child's illness. Dr Now is a terrible plastic surgeon and an even worse shrink. You don't need a degree to realize the woman is eating to self medicate because she is worried to death about her kid. I hate Dr Now. -
Did anyone's spouse lose attractiveness when they got close to goal?

I find it hard to belive what she says mainly because I do not trust fame and attention seekers and it is too easy to lie on someone who doesn't have the same platform you have to defend themselves. -

I'm finally watching this episode with Derek. That is one tree I would love to climb. His face is everything. I wouldn't mind the skin. Those nipples are like 4 inches apart though. Why?!?!?!? Lindsey's body is a disaster. Why are their closing stitches always so terrible. I knew they would suck at dark skin too and I wasn't disappointed. Another episode not a compression garment in sight. Lindsey regained comfort eating while recovering. And they never show them after surgery in their underwear but they don't mind fat shaming people in their undies to start the show. Her arms don't look better and that hour glass shape they promised doesn't exist. She is still covered in a lot of fat. She will have to wear shapewear or jiggle everywhere. This show enrages me. I don't date cops or security guards but Derek, I will make an exception. -
Around 3 months it seemed like most of my swelling was down and I could eat more and I also finally felt 100% and I was more active. I randomly have days where I am hungry all day. They pass. I upped my Protein from 75 to 90 grams and that helped a lot. I also added denser meats.
-
My nutritionist and Dr want you to get Protein from real sources. My issue is I am often not hungry especially when engrossed in a work project. I work from home for myself so I can work endlessly there is nothing to stop. I use and have used Protein shakes and bars long before surgery and I continue to use them so I don't skip meals. I just don't feel like eating a lot. It is better to have a protein shakes than to skip meals until I am suddenly starving. It is even easier to skip meals now since I have no physical hunger. If you want to use protein powder you can. Plenty of people who haven't had WLS use them. If you are trying to get your weight down. Then a shake or 2 a day as a replacement for meals can help you get your weight down.

I wouldn't take dating advice from a man that cheated on his last wife with his current wife. I read the book out of curiosity and it might work if you are over 50 and don't use the Internet or date men that use the Internet but other than that it is really outdated. The only thing worth taking from the book is that women need to know their value, but you can learn that anywhere and hopefully have learned it by high school.

Gel nails
OutsideMatchInside replied to PrincessMonsterTruck's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I don't have gel nails but I wear gel polish. I took it off the night before surgery. I got out of the hospital the next day, then the following day the first thing I did was go get my nails done. And they wouldn't even let me wear clear polish -
I don't like dairy/eggs/fish! What will I eat?
OutsideMatchInside replied to TiredOfMyself's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I really hate eggs after surgery, it is a real roll of the dice if they are okay or if they will make me sick. I don't eat them often. I don't like yogurt, people seem crazy for it and it is all people seem to talk about on weight loss forums and it is just nasty to me and the nutritional value seems worthless, but it easy to eat and has Protein so I see why people like it. When I get tired of fish, I eat deli ham. I like fish because I can eat more of it and easily meet protein goals. Now that I am past 6 months, chicken and beef are much easier to eat than they were at 2-3 months. Now that I am further out I am eating a lot of filet mignon and lamb. Going to add bison in soon. A lot meats that were previously expensive become suddenly affordable when you never eat more than 3-4 oz at a time. -
Kodiak Cakes

They rock. I have been eating them for years. Get some Walden farms syrup, it tastes delicious. They are thin and crepe like. If you want them a litlle thicker add a tablespoon of coconut flour. -

Did anyone's spouse lose attractiveness when they got close to goal?
OutsideMatchInside replied to Chrystee's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
I'm not married but... It seems like your husband thinks thin women can't be trusted. He tginks you are going to lose weight and go crazy like his ex. The fact you said you didn't feel pretty before but now you do, is a huge red flag. Even if he won't go to counseling, you should go alone. You should always feel pretty your a woman, someone is always going to buy what you are selling, that is the great thing about being a woman. The fact you feel pretty now, he isn't suporting that is a huge issue that isn't just his. When he sees that you can still be trsted at a smaller weight he will probably get over is feelings. -
Shoe Size Dropping (NSV?) - What about you?
OutsideMatchInside replied to heynowkc's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I like being an 11 as long as I don't need a narrow. I can find shoee easy at Nordstrom and Saks. Last night however, I was trying on shoes at Norstrom and in some brands i can wear a 10.5. I feel it is impossible for me the smaller than a 10 because that is the size I wore at 140 lbs. I want to be a 10 or an 11 because a 10.5 might as well be a 13, nothing but drama. My feet used to swell a lot but now i am on a pill that has stopped that, so it isn't all weight loss some is Fluid reduction. I used to get 12W to accomodate rhe swelling but i don't think I will ever need a wide again. -
6 months was a big turning point. I guess what they say about being totally healed is true. I can eat more, not more than I should be more, easier and more comfortably. I can eat around 4oz of beef and it doesn't make me feel like a baby elephant is on my chest anymore. Definitely have to keep weighing and measuring so I don't over do it at this point.

They are educational in everything wrong to do with plastic surgery. They can also make you feel better. People say it you lose weight "slowly" and do it the "right way" with diet, exercise and hard work. you don't end up with loose skin. Well almost all these people did it the long and hard way, most taking 3-5 year to lose the weight and they have as much if not more loose skin than WLS patients. The wonder twins as someone called them are terrible, they would be sued, put people are getting free surgery so they are going to Dr Now to get Fixed. Like that is how bad they are. They are plastic surgeons and they botch it so bad that people go to Dr Now to be repaired. Mind blown? Yeah so are the rest of us. It is a train wreck of epic proportions, add it to the DVR. -

Some bariatric surgeons do remove aprons but just for mobility reasons. He is doing way more than a bariatric surgeon should be doing. At first I thought someone else was doing the surgeries with him but that doesn't seem to be the case. -
Do WLS patients ultimately go back to eating anything?
OutsideMatchInside replied to reachbree's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The when can I have pizza question which I find annoying mainly because I have always thought pizza was really overrated, is more about head hunger and second thoughts post surgery than I think lack of education. People are miserable and want to know if there is a light at the end of the tunnel. I wish more people know how to cook, really cook from scratch with real food. The is the first big problem with weight I'm America. Then people have surgery can't cook do you research recipes before surgery and feel like they can't have anything delicious. If you can cook, you can make a low carb version of basically anything. As someone else said, things that are triggers for me, I can't have 2 bites. My only thing is French fries. I can't have 2 fries. I want a whole basket if I just have 2, so I can have zero. Everything else I can stop on but not fries. Rutabaga fries however don't cause this issue, they taste good but not too good. I learned and I adjusted.
