Planning my Post-Op Pantry
OutsideMatchInside replied to Katje Voo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Almond milk, coconut flour, almond meal, bob's red meal low carb baking mix, granulated sugar replacements ( if you cook with them you will need a variety), broth, lots of high quality sugar free spices and seasoning ( most spice mixes and marinades sold in stores have sugar or worse), protein bars of your choice -
Amy is a butter face wuth an awful personality. I really don't care for her racist jokes. She is always in the media whining about her looks. She is one of the most annoying people in pop culture. The only way she is a 6 or an 8 is vanity sizing.

Is anyone's goal weight higher than the BMI chart weight?
OutsideMatchInside replied to her1981's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
@@SkinnyDown When you are morbidly obese for a long time, it changes your body. Your bones become much denser and you have more muscle mass. Your doctor is probably aware of this and knows that you don't have to go that low in weight to have a low body fat percentage. My bone density is at the top of the charts. Because of that I will always weight more than a person that has been a normal weight their whole life and weighs the same as what I weight at the time. My muscle mass exceed exceed my fat mass even when I still had a high BMI after losing weight after surgery (I am almost due to have it tested again). The ratio of muscle I have to fat is not reflected on any BMI or fat percentage chart. It would only be known by having a body scan which is what I had. I wear a 14 in juniors even though I am still very heavy in weight but I am pretty compact in how I look (for my weight, I still have a long way to go). Carrying around an extra 200 lbs for 20 years changed my body forever, and it has for most people that have been very obese for a very long time. -

How long do you have to crush your pills?
OutsideMatchInside replied to Phillygirl_in_DE's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Never crushed pills. I stopped taking chewable vitamins and switch back to the vitamins I took pre-surgery about 2 months ago. -
It took me a really long time to feel like eating. In the beginning I just ate because I wanted to recover and feel better. Also it is kind of important to eat and follow the steps in the beginning so you can progress. Later when you want to eat, you will have a harder time with eating if you don't eat now.

HIPPA Violation
OutsideMatchInside replied to Mary2016's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Won't you get in trouble for misappropriating office supplies by using the company fax machine? Using the fax machine at your job for personal things is theft. If you didn't use the work fax machine, they would have never sent a fax back to that number. There are services you can use to fax from the computer, like efax and hello fax. -
Bummed Out After Watching "My 600 Lb Life: Where Are They Now?"
OutsideMatchInside replied to Proud2BMe's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
@@Proud2BMe Unless you plan on giving birth to 2 humans, you should be okay. Melissa had 2 kids, and she is at home all day with 4 kids. Anyone would gain weight in that situation. Ashley's legs look so painful. It seems like someone should be able to help her with them. Her legs are just a straight trunk. Also I think Dr Now approach is flawed. The original plan he has them on 3 meals, no Snacks is not sustainable, and you can't eat enough Protein in 3 sittings to meet your protein goals. Also there are better options on things to eat. They never seem to ever show people eating replacement items for food. I don't know if it is because of where these people live or because of their economic circumstances. Also it really pisses me off when people claim that they are cooking for their family and they can't force their family to eat healthy. When I was growing up, you ate what adults cooked. You can make all kinds of healthy low carb meals. You can make low carb chicken nuggets and all kinds of items. These people on 600lb life never learn to cook and eat healthy. Melissa it trapped in that sorry marriage. I guess food is a better option than heroin. She is depressed and self medicating with food. These are good teachable moments though. Staying diligent matters. -
@@needtorecover Macy's varies by the brand you select. I am still losing also and I totally understand not wanting to spend a lot on clothes. I would try to get something with a little stretch in it, so you can get a 22 and then get more wear from it. Avenue has some business separates that have stretch, Even if you buy clothes at Nordstrom Rack, they will still tailor them, they have a tailor on site. So it is worth it to take a look and get something quality but cheaper. The prices there can surprise you.

Northwestern Memorial - Chicago
OutsideMatchInside replied to Ignatius's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
There are several people on thinner times that went through Northwestern. It is a really good program the best in Illinois, maybe tied with University of Chicago, but they make you jump through a bunch of hoops. I thought about going there, but the length of time they make you wait before surgery and the number of appointments, conflicted too much with my work schedule. I didn't have that kind of time to waste. -
Is there a specific clothing store that you were gunning for once you reached your target/goal weight?
OutsideMatchInside replied to Deleted Profile's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My ultimate goal is to spend a car's worth of money in Neiman Marcus. Right now I am at the bottom of plus top of regular sizes. I like shopping at forever 21 and Charlotte Rousse since they sell cheap clothes and clothes are basically a disposable thing for me now. I wear them a few weeks then donate them. As soon as my clothes get a little loose, I go down a size. I can't wait to wear Gucci, Dior, St John, Halston. Designer clothes are going to be the sweetest reward. Also Brooks Brothers and Armani for suits. I'm getting excited just thinking about it. -
What's my next step
OutsideMatchInside replied to diamondchic94's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
With a high BMI, things are pretty fast with BCBS. You can skip your primary and go directly to a bariatric center. Get the ball rolling with them. You should not have to do a diet. Your BMI and comorbidities should get you approved easily. I went from first visit to surgery in less than 8 weeks with BCBS. -

Baking with Stevia and Other Sugar Alternatives
OutsideMatchInside replied to Indieflickers's topic in Food and Nutrition
The Protein brownies are from eatmeguiltfree.com you can buy them ready made or you can buy the mix and bake them at home. They aren't cheap but they are worth it. You can probably have good luck just go googling low carb cheesecake. The recipe I make is a modified family recipe. I replace the sugar with a sweetener and I use almond meal a little sweetener and butter to make the crust. I find that baked cheesecakes taste the best. -

Social relationships post op
OutsideMatchInside replied to bigguy928's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
If you are already outgoing with a big personality, your life doesn't really change. Most of the people that complain or are shocked about their life changing, had self esteem issue prior to surgery and weren't that outgoing. -
Protein bars totally feel like sliders to me. They do nothing for my hunger and they seem to go right through my stomach. The eatmeguiltfree.com brownies are filling with less calories and fewer chemicals. I like protein bars for emergencies but the don't come close to being as satisfying as meat. I feel like they are something out have to be leery of because I could easily eat just graze on them. I never even feel any restriction when I eat them.

In puree phase - nutritionist said don't sweat the protein g too much...
OutsideMatchInside replied to HoosierJoe's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My program put Protein and fluids on the same level. Since the first month they expect you to use a protein supplement there is no reason not to hit both goals in their opinion since protein supplements count as liquids too. I would have never got my strength up enough to walk and heal if I didn't get my protein in. Each day that I was able to increase my intake, I got stronger with more energy. They want to make sure that you don't dehydrate because that is a huge post op issue. You have to really work on getting your nutrition in. It is easy to not eat or drink enough especially when you are still swollen and everything hurts. Don't let the emphasis of fluids stop you from working on your protein intake, it all matters. -
Down and Blue in Alabama
OutsideMatchInside replied to Kelly84's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
My program has support groups split up by where people are in the process so you don't encounter that kind of thing. Once you have had surgery and are eating again, you can easily ignore other people's bad food choices. Maybe skip that in person group for a while. Also people are jerks, I would bring food to a meeting like that. It is rude on so many levels. -
Scale Hasn't Budged!

More Protein as others have suggested. Also if you aren't regular, then you won't see the loses on the scale, so use stool softeners if needed. -
