    Waist trainers.....what's the scoop?

@Renkoss I am going to go as far as I can with this, but I feel like plastics are the only real long term solution. I'd like to be comfortable without tucking myself into stuff all the time. I thought I would be okay without surgery, but as each week passes and I lose more inches, the urgency for surgery becomes more apparent. Long term it will be cheaper than wearing compression garments all the time anyway.

    Waist trainers.....what's the scoop?

@@Renkoss It seems like just not having a huge gut would be benefit enough. The problem is a lot of loose flabby skin is really uncomfortable. It has its own mind, it moves. It makes it harder to exercise. My stomach will flop and make weird noises in yoga if I don't wear compression leggings. So if you lose weight and want to be active and get the most out of life, and you end up with loose skin, you kind of have to do something about it. I have been lucky so far, no rashes or skin issues. I started wearing compression workout clothes all day around the house just to be more comfortable, then I took it further. If you have big boobs, wearing a bra is more comfortable than not wearing a bra, because the support is comfortable. Same thing if you have skin flopping all over your torso, holding it in is more comfortable. @@LisaMergs http://www.albolene.com/ It is a moisturizer, makeup remover. It is like Vaseline. When you put it on, and put something latex over it, it holds your body heat in.

    Leading up to my death?

@@1cutiejulie I had decided I would rather die fast, then keep killing myself slowly, if I died on the table or something. My health was starting to rapidly decline, so I felt like I had nothing to lose. Looking back that seems so overly dramatic, but I had made peace with it. I didn't say goodbyes to people though, I try to always live every day like it would be my last, so I don't have a life of regrets. Everyone I love knows I love them.

    Waist trainers.....what's the scoop?

@@losergrl75 I use Albolene, and V-Gel. When i got to the point I was dropping a lot of inches very fast it really helped tighten my skin up. Compression, exercise and sweating all go a long way in helping your skin. Plastic surgeons have people wear compression garments for a reason. Wearing compression items help with you lymphatic system. Exercising on top of it goes even further. I wear some kind of compression all the time except when I do yoga. My thighs and my love handles are greatly improved. I thought i would need and upper body lift, but i have been able to tighten and smooth my upper back area wearing neoprene compression vests. Albolene is cheap, you can buy it anywhere. I put it on my feet every night and they are baby soft. The moisturizing helps a lot just as much as it helps trap body heat.

    "Snacking" on pre op diet

Really take it an hour at a time. That is what I did. I also went to bed early every day and I watched Fat Doctor all day. What you said about your prior eating habits, is exactly how I used to eat. 1 or 2 huge meals. Now i like my 4-5 small meals a day. You can do it. Chug Water all day till you feel like you are drowning.

    Estimated post-op weight loss chart

The long term goals are pretty accurate. The short term goals like the 10 days to 3 month goals are pretty aggressive. People expect to drop a ton of weight right after surgery and it doesn't happen that way for a lot of people. I saw the biggest losses in months 3-6. In the very beginning when my calories were low, I wasn't losing at the pace on that chart. I definitely didn't lose weight in the 10 days right after surgery. It was 105 degrees every day and I was retaining Water like crazy.

@@CowgirlJane I hit block immediately on married men. IGAF about their sob stories for why they aren't single. Separated people get the same treatment. I'm not even totally looking for marriage or commitment. I just have no desire to be 2nd best. The mistress life is not for me. Still addicted to carbs!

I also think visually seeing what you are eating helps too. If you can see the calories and carbs in those items you are eating it might make it easy to let them go. Also, your progress so far is great. Don't let those carbs hold you back from your goals.

    Still addicted to carbs!

Start tracking your food in an app. Knowing how much Protein and calories you are intaking really helps. Your weight loss is going to start slowing down soon, so you are going to need to know your macro nutrients so you can adjust things. I eat 100-120g of protein a day. I have no room for carbs that aren't veggies or dairy. I eat the veggies for Fiber and the dairy for fat/protein. Every food you eat should be helping you meet your goals at this point. Also there are lots of low carb substitutions for so many items. Look into those. But please start tracking your food, it helps so much.

    Hair loss!

Just keep your Protein high. My hair shed like crazy but as soon as it stopped, it started coming back very rapidly. Focus on creating an environment for regrowth, trying to stop the shedding is pointless. There are a ton of threads on hair, if you use search you might find some good suggestions.

    Can I eat watermelon?

Watermelon has the more sugar than a lot of other melons, if someone wants fruit, there are better options. It is not a low carb fruit. Just because it isn't as high as a pineapple or a banana doesn't mean its low carb. Not to mention it has basically no Protein. We are talking about a person fresh from surgery, not someone in maintenance. @@JMarshall Even right some surgery, Water melon is going to basically be a slider food. Full of sugar, and no protein. Any weight loss patient could sit and eat an entire watermelon if they wanted if they don't dump. It is going down a slippery slope very early on.

    Hair loss - Help?

@@FlabbyNat Prior to having surgery, when I wanted to make my hair grow rapidly I would up my Protein intake. I currently eat between 100-120g of protein a day. My hair is growing back very rapidly. @@glitter eyes Has some great suggestions. Collagen and bamboo tea are cheap, and easily absorbed by the body and don't have the side effects of things like Biotin and they will help you with hair and skin. Collagen will also help you boost your protein intake. Make sure your Iron and zinc levels are good. If you are low on iron, you are going to have a tough time growing hair.

The scale may not be moving, but the fat is

@@floflo1973 A lot of people don't lose rapidly until 6 weeks post-op. I lost the most weight months 3-6. Just stick to your plan. Most of your stomach is missing, your muscles have been cut, your body is freaking out and most of its energy is going to repairing itself. The weight loss will come.

    Can I eat watermelon?

It isn't low carb though at all. No one fresh from surgery should be sucking down that much sugar. After surgery when I wanted fruit, I made that flavor sugar free Jello and that satisfied my cravings. This is your time to maximize weight loss, not indulge in your cravings.

    I can't decide

If I had to pay out of pocket, I would go to Mexico no question. Just make sure you pick the right doctor. You don't really see your surgeon after surgery in the US either with most surgeons. You see their PA. So don't let that be your deciding factor. Once the surgery is over, the Surgeon is basically done with you.

    Waist trainers.....what's the scoop?

Every time some one asks about waist training it's the same thing. If you want a lot of support from the board, ask about cheating on your spouse or dumping them because they are still fat and the support will roll in. Just don't take it serious. If you want to ask about things beauty related weight-loss surgery boards are the worst place. You have so many people that hate themselves and on top of hating themselves they have neglected themselves for years. So they are middle aged trying to learn about fashion, hair and makeup. If you want to talk about looking good and being pretty this isn't the place.
