I month out... Appetite returns
OutsideMatchInside replied to stephenmarksarro's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Even at a month out, it is unlike those nerves have reconnected at the stomach. As @@judanna77 asked, are you taking a PPI? Acid can feel like hunger. Are you hungry for anything or just one thing, like a cheeseburger? If you are hungry for just one thing, that is head hunger not real hunger. Also wanting to eat and needing to eat are 2 different things. -
Very sickening
OutsideMatchInside replied to lsubabe33's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have barely been losing weight the past 6 weeks or so. Partially because I have a period every 2 weeks now, and its summer and I am retaining Water. I am however smaller, all the time. Measure yourself every week, it helps when the scale isn't moving. Also I think a lot of my freak out about my weight is because everyone says you lose the most in the first year, my year is almost up and I am 30 pounds heavier than I wanted to be at this point. I am trying not to focus on that so much, because I am the size in clothes I thought I would be at this point, which means in the end, I am probably going to end up smaller than I ever thought. Think positive, being stressed only retains weight. -
Pre-op clothes shopping
OutsideMatchInside replied to abuckeyeleaf's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Do not buy anything. There are always sales, seriously, always. You might skip sizes. I went from 30/28- to 24, then I was a 20 for like 2 weeks, then an 18. Weight loss isn't a natural stair step progression. If you have to buy anything get dresses. Pants look the worst after weight loss, tops, dress skirts, are more forgiving. A saggy ass is not. -
Are Protein Bars even worth it?
OutsideMatchInside replied to OutsideMatchInside's topic in Food and Nutrition
I track my food with an app. I find comparing macros of items important because it keeps me mindful of what I am eating it helps me make better choices. I think of calories more as a cost of an item, and it helps me evaluate its worth. Like a huge salad in the afternoon is 20 calories. An extra tablespoon of half and half is 20 calories. I get more bang for my buck with the salad, but some of the time I am low on fat, so I need the extra tablespoon of half and half. Not being mindful of what I was eating and not tracking my macros is what got me in this situation to begin with. I'm not going to make the same mistake twice. Eventually I probably won't even care about calories, because how I eat I am low on calories all the time, but also I have to watch to make sure I get enough calories and Protein in. I have a lot of muscle and I love it and don't want to lose it. -
Need encouragement
OutsideMatchInside replied to kcorny8's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Mentally you might feel like you are starving, but you won't feel that way physically. The best advice I can give you is learn to deal with head hunger and find a way to ignore or cope with it that doesn't involve caving into it. It is easier to learn this skill in the first 3 months than it is later on. People that don't learn this struggle and many fail. If you are staving for one thing or one type of thing, that isn't hunger, that is head hunger. If you are hungry and broth sounds delicious, then you are really hungry. If you are hungry and the only thing that will satisfy you is something off plan, you aren't really hungry. I deal with head hunger by focusing on my end goal and then distracting myself with walking and exercise. Even just jumping jacks. Learning to make head hunger your bitch, and learn it fast. -

@@jess9395 The lemon cake tastes just like lemon cake. It is just too amazing. They have to be using sorcery to make them. That is the only Protein bar that I can't control myself around. The apple pie Quest is pretty good too but nothing compares to that lemon cake bar. The protein brownies I make though, blow it all out the Water, nothing like fresh baked goodness, and they are dense and filling. -

@@Healthy4mykids I'm not done losing yet, but I am going to have excess skin removed when I get there. I am pretty flabby although it is improving. I feel like I might be able to get away with not having my thighs done in the end. Arms and tummy tuck are a must. -

Are Protein Bars even worth it?

@@summerset I'm not really a sweets person either so that factors in. I will always choose meat over anything else in any given circumstance. I have always been like this. So to me, a cookie is boring compared to a steak. I really hate that most convenience Protein products are sweet tasting. -
Are Protein Bars even worth it?
OutsideMatchInside replied to OutsideMatchInside's topic in Food and Nutrition
I like my food fresh, if I did meal prep I would just throw it all out. I don't eat leftovers the whole concept grosses me out. That is an entirely different topic. I can respect people that meal prep, it just doesn't fit my lifestyle. I usually keep deli ham around for the afternoon. Going to hit the store and pick up my deli staples. @@jess9395 I have been looking for the FitElite bars for a couple weeks since I saw them on instagram. I wanted to try it out more than I was really just starving. Since it was my afternoon snack time, I decided why not. They are okay bars but they are too close to Quest bars imo. Nothing comes close to the taste of Oh Yeah One! bars, those I won't keep in the house at all because they taste too good. If I never have this bar again, I won't be missing much. -

Are Protein Bars even worth it?
OutsideMatchInside replied to OutsideMatchInside's topic in Food and Nutrition
I only eat Protein bars that are 20 or more of protein and 10 calories or less per gram of protein, and less than 5 net carbs. 4 ounces of Swai is 70 calories and 15G of protein. I had 1/2 a FitElite bar. They are nice high quality bars. They just offer me no satisfaction. 90 calories down the tubes. I work from home so I don't have much excuse not to cook or eat real food except I just didn't feel like cooking 20 minutes ago. -

Liquid Diet shakes only? Day 3
OutsideMatchInside replied to All4me1's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A

OutsideMatchInside replied to nicksmommy's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Just hit up Walmart. The cost of shipping even free stuff is more than just buying something at Walmart. I would get sundresses though instead of pants, you can get more wear out of a dress post op than pants. A loose dress can be fixed with a belt. Pants are going to sag in the butt. -
Please HELP! Weight Gain at the 6-7 Month Post Op Mark
OutsideMatchInside replied to ellie123's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@ellie123 The 6-7 month mark for me was the hardest. It was like a switch flipped and I could suddenly easily eat more and I wanted to eat more. It is called being completely healed, but it is a scary feeling even if mentally you know what is going on. I would suggest shakes for a while. Keep them in your hotel room and have them before and event and then when you are with co-workers, drink Water THE ENTIRE TIME or unsweetened iced tea, whatever. Just drink the whole time. Don't think about the food you want and the food you are missing out on. Think about how good you will look/feel at XXX weight. Buy something you can barely fit, and work to make them fit. -
Waist Training.?
OutsideMatchInside replied to Healthy4mykids's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
@@Healthy4mykids Compression without boning in it, feels great on your stomach and it will help with pain and gas. Some surgeons send people home with binders. Waist training with steel boning is a no-no early on. You have too much swelling in your abdomen. Later as you lose weight and you are being active, you will want to wear compression clothes as you work out for better muscle recover and in my case I wear them to help deal with loose skin/floppy fat (I am pretty jiggly at this point). Also I will say that I wouldn't purchase anything too expensive. I have a couple workout compression vest I have purchased and I size out of them very rapidly. I don't think I am going to buy anymore until goal weight/plastic surgery happens. -

Cheating on day 6 post op
OutsideMatchInside replied to DebraM04's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
on my plan I could have grits or malto meal on purees, not sure if you are at that stage. I think the slushie is the worst thing you had because it just sugar Water. It is also the kind of thing you can always have easily. When you actually start on soft foods, they will be hard to eat, but slushies and stuff will always be easy. A lot of people that fail at surgery, chose these kinds of easy foods. One slushy while eating good the rest of the day can ruin everything. This was one day though, and you can't fix the past, just don't do it again. -

I'm not sure why your wife would say that to you. She has seen what surgery entails unlike a lot of people that think it is easy. I'd keep my eye on her, this is probably just the beginning.
