Is this normal?
OutsideMatchInside replied to becomingmandikaye's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@becomingmandikaye I had probably 1/4 of a scrambled egg as my first soft food that 1/4 was hard to do. -
Monthly goal % of excess body weight loss
OutsideMatchInside replied to Jennifer Ostermeier's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@Jennifer Ostermeier I don't think you are going to find it because I have never heard of or seen anyone every post about a percentage of excess weight lost per month as a goal. Some months people are going to be in stalls and not lose or lose very little. Anywhere from 1-4% is a good normal target for non weight loss people. -
Gas in my shoulder
OutsideMatchInside replied to Lifestylechange45's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@Lifestylechange45 Yeah I had that. It was really the worst because nothing helps with it. It is just a dull constant ache. Good news though, it should be gone soon. -
Butter chicken after gastric sleeve
OutsideMatchInside replied to SammyVP's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
if you made it yourself and subbed 1/2 and half or whole milk for heavy cream you can cut the calories a lot. -
How long is the procedure?
OutsideMatchInside replied to Wendydarling19's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It takes about 45 minutes, most of it is setup and closure, the operation itself is very fast. Search on youtube for videos. -
Post sleeve help?
OutsideMatchInside replied to Chicken Lady's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Ask her to walk with you so you don't get bored. That is all I have. I was relatively healthy and active. I lived alone and I didn't need help. Oh my friend was here the say after surgery and the one thing she did for me that I would not have had the energy for the day I got home (about 26 hours after surgery) was pick up my prescriptions. One there was an issue with because the Dr wasn't in the DEA database and she had to go back up there. I would have never been able to fight with them for that medicine. I didn't need it anyway but still. That was a huge help to me. -

@@Djmohr You will find so much information at realself.com You can search for people in your age range, area, etc. There are a lot of search options that make it easy to find very specific people to follow and see their experience. Introducing foods to your new stomach.
OutsideMatchInside replied to Lovin2lose's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@Lovin2lose It can be really fast 20 minutes, but as long as 2 hours. I only added one new thing a day, so I would know if I was having issues it was that one thing. -
I'm having a hard time adjusting
OutsideMatchInside replied to jdupree5's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@jdupree5 The first time I took a sip I had a stomach spasm. The issues was the cold Water, it felt like daggers. Are you having spasms with all water temps? I had to drink room temp or warm drinks for a few weeks. -
8+ week post and vomiting slime almost daily
OutsideMatchInside replied to rhansen7's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Contact your doctor. Are you weighing or measuring all your food and not going over the recommended serving sizes at your current stage? -
I was talking with a friend last night and she told me her weight while she weighed herself (she is trying to gain weight) and I realized I have lost more than her entire body weight, and while she is small, she isn't tiny. It is crazy to think I this time last year I was walking around with an entire person on my back. No wonder my heels are so comfortable now.

Hope I'm doing the right thing :)
OutsideMatchInside replied to Marc F's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
@@Marc F Having 85% of your stomach cut away sounds drastic and if feels drastic at first but once you heal, that really isn't the case. I am 11.5 months post-op almost, and I feel mostly like a normal person. I just eat proper portions, the recommended portions, like 3-4 ounces of meat (which is what everyone is supposed to be eating) and I feel good about it. I didn't have all of your medical issues but the issues I did have were resolved quickly and I feel so much better. Do not let the drastic sound fool you, keep pushing forward. -
I went protein crazy!
OutsideMatchInside replied to gettingsleeved1's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No, post-op. Cold drinks were like daggers to my sleeve. The first sip of Water I had was ice water and it hurt like hell. Now I wouldn't just because that volume isn't worth it. The pain of being overly full isn't worth the idea of variety. The best thing you can do for protein variety is find a high quality unflavored protein. You can add it to all kinds of things, and that is your variety right there. -
Is anyone required to go to therapy weekly by your surgeon?
OutsideMatchInside replied to TanairyVSG's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@TanairyVSG My concern would it be just any therapist, meaning you can pick your own, or he wants to see this specific one he is associated with. If he only wants you to see a specific therapist, then it might just be a money thing. If you are an emotional or stress eater, a therapist can be helpful. I have never found that I need one that long term, 2 or 3 visits and I can usually work out my problem. The key is to just find a good one. If you don't want to do what this doctor wants, just find a different one. You have to pick a program that works for you. I passed up some well known programs in Chicago because they want to spend so much time on extra visits. I work for myself and I don't have that kind of time to spare. -

Is my BMI too low for the sleeve?
OutsideMatchInside replied to maybesomeday's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You could probably find a doctor in Mexico. At a 27 bmi, it doesn't seem like a good option for you. Have you tried keto? -
You have to remove all metal. No exceptions.

Exercise?! When can we..
OutsideMatchInside replied to curlysue86's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A

Didn't follow 2 week liquid diet:(
OutsideMatchInside replied to d0minicanmama1's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Are you going to be able to get enough shakes for post op? Not having Protein post op isn't really an option. You should tell your doctor and be honest about what you have been eating and see what they say. -
Is this overeating?
OutsideMatchInside replied to reachbree's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Those aren't meals, they are liquids. They don't count they slide through your stomach as you are drinking them. Your swelling is just going down faster than most people. When you have your first couple bites on soft foods, you will really get to know your sleeve. And the pain of fullness early on. -
Airport security issues ?
OutsideMatchInside replied to Wolfgirl78's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Last time was patted down I had on a skirt and it had a twist knot wrap layer thing in the front and that set the machine off. I don't trust what 1/2 those TSA dudes use as excuses. Some of them are just trying to pull chicks out the line and talk to them. I've been told I was sexy in the airport more than any construction workers. -
9 carbs and 2g of protein per serving, probably not, but ask your program, they are all different.

@@Oak Park Lorena The conversation was over, you showed up days later to stir the pot what reason? No one posting in this thread, it was dropped and you showed up to stirr the ****. Who is policing whom?

@@Oak Park Lorena People responded to her in a thoughtful manner, taking the time to respond to her post instead of ignoring it. All her responses to people were rude, and ungrateful. She was pretty rude to OKCPirate in particular and yeah my response reflected that. You get what you give. The singles forum is more for talking about being single. It isn't a place to meet people. As long as internet forums have existed people have got annoyed when people don't even bother to read the forum and post. Anyone that spent a day reading on BP would know there aren't many single people here.
