  1. 8 weeks. I had to do a lot of tests on my heart (which turned out fine in the end) and that slowed the whole thing down. If I didn't need that series of heart tests I think it could have been less than a month.

Billed $480 for consultation. Is this normal?

I had to pay a $250 fee for all the paperwork they file, and I think my normal co-pay. It made sense to me from a business stand point because even if people are denied coverage from their insurance, they still have to spend all the time to get the paperwork together in the proper format and submit. When you call the 800 number for your insurance, no one will explain the charges? And no one at the Dr office will either?

Insurance Patients - When did you meet your surgeon?

I wouldn't be okay with that at all. I looked at my insurance, and picked a list of doctors that were covered. Then I research them. Then I met the Dr I selected at a seminar, then I had my first visit. The I started my pre-op testing. Once the testing was done, they submitted my packet to insurance. So seeing my Dr was step 2, step 1 was the seminar. I don't get what purpose true results serves or why people are using them.

@@magoosmom I slept on my stomach from the 4th night and it was so comforting. It helped with the gas and the pain. I would suggest wearing a binder or some kind of compression so you can sleep on your side and you might just roll on your stomach if you are comfortable enough.

    Snacks for Movie Theatre Ideas?

This a thousand times. People shouldn't even hungry at 2 weeks. Water is the best option. And this isn't just for OP. People keep asking this same question all the time, and the best option at the movies is water. Especially before 6 months and you are trying to learn good habits to last you the rest of your life.

    Dress size vs pounds

Man this is a though question. Mainly because I skipped sizes. I started off a UK size 32 ish, probably larger, I don't think many clothes even come that large in the UK. Now I wear a UK 16 or 18, it depends because my breasts are huge and I am hippy. The last time I ordered a UK 20 and this was 20 months ago, it arrived and it was like a tent dress, lol. I think a lot of people don't buy new clothes or change sizes as they lose weight. I have a friend that lost 200 lbs on her own and kept it off for over 6 years, and she told me as soon as you drop a size get new clothes that fit and donate the old ones. Which is what I have been doing and it is a great motivator. So anyway. I wasn't really fitting into my clothes that well anyway, I was probably almost a size larger, but a size larger was too big. So the first 20lbs, I went down a size. Then I lost 30ish pounds kind of fast and went down 2 sizes. Then another 30lbs I dropped a size. Then I hovered a lot between sizes and it really depending on the style and fit. My issue is my waist is getting smaller, my back fat is disappearing, my legs have lost a lot but I have a lot in my hips and breasts. My arms are still huge so the prevent me from wearing smaller tops. So anyway I would say a good 20-30 lbs per plus size. And then once you are out of plus sizes, I think maybe 10lbs you can drop a size, maybe 15. The problem with clothes is they aren't cut uniform and there is a lot of variation so unless you wear the same brand all the time, it is hard to say how much per size. Also I notice my weigh drops and then my body settles and it changes. Like my shape seems to rearrange on a weekly basis. It is annoying. So something might fit right one day and not the next week, or it may look different. When I am in a stall, my body goes through major changes. I am in a losing phase right now, so my shape is going to be pretty constant until, I stall again. That was long winded but I hope it helps. The size changes are maddening.

    Snacks for Movie Theatre Ideas?

Gogurts have basically no nutritional value and are not bariatric friendly. They are like uncrustables and box mac and cheese, things that moms that just don't give a damn anymore feed their kids. http://gogurt.com/products Having those 2 weeks after surgery might make someone dump. Did anyone that responded to this thread pay attention to the fact that OP is just starting on purees?
  13. Well with ACA they can't deny you if you qualify, and everything is electronic. So it really shouldn't take long with a good Dr office and a good insurance plan.

    Wait...Is it gonna fit?

@@BarefootDrummer You might not even be able to tolerate cold drinks. So don't be too married to the ice. Also, when you have a large stomach you are trying to make shakes that fill you up. When you have a small stomach you are looking for the opposite. Your new stomach will be swollen and tight. You want things that are thin liquids and slide right through easily, so you can get the Protein to heal and not make your stomach work too hard. Syntrax nectars which are like Water are the best post-op imo, or anything else that is water thin.

    "Cheating" on the liquid diet

@@illuminationlady The liquid diet is to shrink your liver to make surgery easier, not for weight loss. So it is more important than the other diet you have been on. What is it about liquids that makes you vomit? If you can't handle just liquids now, how are you going to be able to after surgery? You need to talk to your medical team about this.

    Vacation

@@betterme38 http://bransonrestaurants.com/ Look at the resturants there, then find which ones have an online menu. Try to find some that have broth type Soups. When I was having surgery my best friend flew in to be with me and I wanted to take her some place nice. We went to a French restaurant and I had the french onion soup and just had the broth. It was hard because it was my last day and I was basically running on air, but I managed to just have the broth on the soup. Even at all you can eat place, as long as it isn't a couple days before surgery if you have a salad with just greens, no dressing, just put salt and pepper on it, you should be fine. You just want to make sure you have zero carbs so your liver shrinks.
