    Sleeve & birth control

I had a copper IUD before surgery. I like it, and I have no plans on getting rid of it. When I have it removed I will just get another one. Perfect birth control, no nasty hormones.
  2. @@KristenLe I really wonder about people being curious and what makes them curious. I don't have co-workers so I have never had to deal with that aspect of WLS. When I moved where I live now I moved here before surgery, so these people knew me as fat only. I had surgery started walking, got a dog and walked even more. I walked all the time in my apt complex, rainy days, freezing cold. With weights on, multiple times a day. None of the people that live here that have seen me drop weight "rapidly" have asked me a lot of questions about it. They just say "Looking good" "The hard work is paying off" I have literally lost a whole entire person in weight since I moved here, and no one questions it. Even the people that know me, and don't know I had surgery have never questioned it. My eating habits are totally different and my activity level while high before is through the roof now. People that are my friends on fitbit etc, see that I walk 25,000 steps a lot of days. My weight loss doesn't seem magical to people, they attribute it to a lifestyle change.

    Missing Caffine

My Dr said it was an appetite stimulant and to avoid it for that reason. Caffeine does the exact opposite to me. Before I could have coffee after surgery I just took a caffeine pill. Then I added coffee back and I have coffee all day every day (cold brew low acid). Talk to your Dr about it.. Also caffeine is in stuff like Goody powders because it makes them hit your blood stream faster.

    Getting back on track

@@d258 you didn't state your height, if you are male or female or how many calories or carbs you eat in a day. You might need more calories, more Protein and possibly fewer carbs. You can lose a lot of weight just walking. I just walk and I lose a lot of weight. Exercise doesn't have to mean going to the gym and depend on what kind of person you are going to the gym can do more harm than good. I have lost more weight steadily with walking than I ever did doing lots of other really hard workouts. The stress of other workouts are counter-productive for me. Also, @@SuperDave is right, 5.5 pounds isn't a stall. You are under 200 pounds, your weight loss is going to be slower now.

Clothing Sizes: What do they even mean anymore?!?!?

@@Daisee68 The jeans at Banana republic stretch but they hug you so they kind of mask any issues and make the most of what you have, they are a little thicker than the jeans at Old Navy but still soft. I still might get a pair, they were $30 off the other day. The Rockstar sculpt are pretty awesome. I tried stuff on with no shapewear on so I can get a real idea how they fit. The rockstar jeans with the sculpt are worth paying a little extra for. The regular rockstars fit good too. Yeah the curvys seem to have too much stretch. I think the kid working the dressing room hates me. I tried on 15 pairs of jeans. i always take 2 sizes just to make sure I am not kidding myself on my sizes.

    Well..... decision made!

You know what's funny, everything you have on your list you can have post op except the beer and champagne. I had all these food funerals thinking I would not enjoy food or something in the future and that was just not the case at all. I have steak and it tastes even better because since I eat less of it I get the most expensive cuts. Good luck with the surgery

Plant Based Diet After Bariatric Surgery

    Is your surgeon Dr Wiener?
  10. Calories really vary. I am still losing eat 1400 to 1600 calories a day. With my activity level, that still puts me at a deficit. Like @@Babbs said, it is really important to raise your calories as you are losing and can eat more so you don't ruin your metabolism and have to eat 800 or 1000 calories a day forever.
  11. One random broad when I went to buy a bra last year. Only fat people ask if you have surgery I think. Naturally thin people believe diet and exercise work.

    What to do?

She is Canadian, they have always been able to go to Cuba. They didn't participate in out dated US foreign policy. So good job on writing a book about US laws when she clearly stated she was Canadian and it is hard to find summer clothes in Canada before her trip. Nothing like clinging to the cold war.

    Problems at Work

You know they are hateful old birds but you are trying to find common ground with them and be friends. Just stop. These sound like the hateful old biddies my mom works with. They made her life a living hell. Do yourself a favor and just work at work and stop talking to them. Also the next time they say something about gays, turn them into corporate HR. That is a hostile workplace. You know they aren't your friends, stop talking to them. And for anyone else who reads this stop yelling your co-workers your business when you know you work with hateful, petty, jealous, unhappy women. Make you life easy and keep to yourself.

    Alcohol.

Thank goodness we have wine at church and I'm not Catholic. I guess you take communion with grape juice? Jesus actually said wine, it is a representation. Jesus loved wine so much he turned Water into wine at a wedding to keep the party going, so I don't think he will care if I say wine. The mystery of faith doesn't require that you be an idiot. It is water down wine, and we are talking about medical needs so calling it what I is, in and secular setting is completely appropriate.

Clothing Sizes: What do they even mean anymore?!?!?

I went to Old Navy. Nothing in old Navy feels as good as the banana Republic jeans but since they are about 1/2 to 1/4 the price that is to be expected. The Rockstar mid rise skinny jeans make my butt look the best. I also feel like I can wear them the longest. The curvy size is okay, but even in skinny they a close to mom jeans, the butt just isn't as flattering. I might need to go down a size in the curvy.

    Slider foods

@@tanyarahmes It doesn't have to just be food with no nutrition. In my case anything that isn't dense Protein is basically a slider for me. Protein Bars Eggs/Omelettes salad greens (spinach, arugula, european greens) Anything that doesn't trigger restriction and can easily pass through your stomach. At first protein bars triggered restriction for me but post 6 months they do nothing. Scrambled eggs for some reason just hurt. Omelettes, poached eggs, fried eggs, do not trigger restriction and offer little satisfaction. I avoid sliders with the except of salad greens because they provide little satisfaction. It is like eating air.
  20. I only have real hunger if I don't eat for like 18 hours. Post-op when before soft foods, when you haven't been able to chew anything real for almost a month or so, there is a lot of head hunger. Once soft foods hits, head hunger is gone. My relationship with food changed at that point because I had to be very cautious with eating so I didn't become overly full or cause myself pain. So that helped really detach me from food. I am still a foodie and I still love and enjoy food, but it doesn't rule my life. It is something I need to fuel my life, but it isn't life. I would just say in the beginning, take the acid reducers the first 6 months. I never had stomach acid issues prior to VSG and I thought I could skip them. Not taking them, caused me problems that I could have easily avoided.

    Keto/VSG help please!

Actually if you use the keto calculator, you set your Protein goal first based off your lean mass. Then you set your fat goals based on how much you want to cut. You have to always base your protein off your lean mass if you want to keep your lean mass. The majority of your calories should be fat, for the entire day but you don't just ignore protein or your protein needs for your lean mass.

    Clothes purge!

No. If I could have anything tailored and saved it would be my coats. I am so much smaller that it isn't even worth it, it would be a disaster to do. I could do it myself but I don't see the point. Not only has my size changed but my shape has changed a lot. I have to dress completely differently. I am all breast, hips and but, with no waist. All my clothes before were designed to flatter my stomach, which I don't have anymore. I need clothes that work for an hourglass figure and that is a different kind of problem.

    Panera smoothie ?

Natural sugar is liquid form is just like sugar basically. When you eat a piece of fruit the fiber in the fruit causes your body to process it more slowly. If you have it in liquid form, it is hitting your blood stream very quickly.

Does anyone even bother with salads anymore?

For me, salad is a slider. No restriction at all. I can eat a massive amount of greens, I usually have a 50/50 mix of spinach and european greens. I eat about 85 grams at a time, that is 3 cups roughly. I find it to be awesome. I have 2 salads like that a day pretty often. It is a great "snack" and the only way I can get my greens in. I need the Fiber and a huge volume amount of salad greens are 20 calories. 20 Calories for a HUGE bowl. I use calorie free dressing or I just use seasonings. I didn't add salad in as a regular part of my diet until about 9 months. 20 calories, 3 cups. It is the only time you get to eat a large volume post op and it is basically no calories. Don't discount salad, when you can eat more it is can be very mentally satisfying. I am still trying to get to the pound of veggies a day that Dr Matthew Weiner suggests. BTW Lettuce has basically no nutritional value, I never ate it before surgery so I won't start now. I have always been a baby spinach lover.
