    How do you look normal?

@@BarefootDrummer The only people I have found that pay a lot of attention to what I eat are cheap men on dates. Most people do not pay as much attention to what you eat as you think. I get something that makes it easy to ignore I am not eating that much. salad with a Protein (chicken, steak) Eat all the meat, push the salad around. At a year out, I can eat a chicken Cesar salad almost the whole thing (depending how large) no issues (salad greens are a slider). Order a sandwich, eat the meat cheese out, and tell people you are low carbing. It is really pretty easy to do. Just get an appetizer. I didn't eat out with other people until about 3 months. By the time you are 6 months, you should be able to eat enough to really not draw attention to yourself. The amount of time you can only eat a tiny amount is pretty short, unless you have some kind of complication. At a year out, no one would question what I eat, I eat like a lady is supposed to. Also not sure where you live, but going to Tapas places and sharing with friends is also great, everyone is eating a little of a lot of things no one will pay attention to what you are or aren't eating. Lastly, as long as you ear protein first, almost no one in America will ever say anything about you not eating your veggies, sadly.

    Sugar addiction help !

@@Nikkinee You can eat whatever you want with the sleeve and bypass really. Surgery is not going to stop you from eating or stop you from making bad choices. Like others have said, therapy will probably be more help to you. Also, cook your own deserts, make them low carb. It is expensive, time consuming and requires specialty items. If you can only eat sweets if you make them, you will eat them less.
  3. I'm glad you went to the Dr when you felt something was wrong. Too many people ask here what they should, when they should be in the ER.

    Protein! Protein! Banana Cream Shakes

I can't wait to try these.
  5. In the hospital I had more pain that was caused by the morphine than was solved by it. Every time they gave me a shot it made my intestines hurt, so I stopped taking it. Then things were better in the hospital. I didn't really have any pain the first week, I stopped taking the meds. I was able to drink and eat pretty easily, just felt like strep throat. The worst part was the shoulder pain and I think that came a week or so later, and that was terrible. It was a dull ache that nothing helps but time. Overall it was pretty easy. I do have a high pain tolerance, and I am one of the few women that will say child birth doesn't hurt that bad, so keep that in mind.

    Protein goals and hair loss

I have to agree Biotin is useless unlike you enjoy having terrible skin. Keeping your Iron up and adding Zinc (if you test low, don't just willy nilly add zinc), and meet your Protein goals so your hair grows back.
  7. This article is so on point. So many people see life through fat tinted lenses, that they are blinded to the fact that other people have the same struggles. This weekend I was trying on clothes and 2 other ladies were in the dressing room. One was complaining to her friend that she had to get size 10 at this store, but she normally wears an 8. The friend responded "The size doesn't matter as long as it fits right", with an exasperated voice. These were two thin young woman that don't look like they have ever struggled with weight. A lot of the women here, myself included, complain about clothing sizes but that isn't an issue exclusive to WLS patients, all women have the same gripes.

    ZUMBA

Walk until you are cleared for exercise at 4 weeks. You can risk a hernia. You have internal stitches on your muscles.

    List of necessities and pricing

A lot less than food. It depends though. Where I live there is a chain called supplement super store and they sell supplements at whole sale, so I can get a container of Syntrax nectar for $27.99 In the beginning I kept 2 12 packs of Premier, that cost is going to vary but I catch them for $16.88 at Sams One container of Syntrax Nectar 27.99 Lasted a month or so Unflavored Protein $37 I never finished that container and ended up throwing it out at 9 months so it lasted a long time. There was nothing wrong with it, but once I got on soft foods, I just didn't use it anymore. If you break it out by meal cost, Protein shakes are $1-2 per serving. My Vitamins at first came free with my B-12 script, so I didn't pay. I used vitamins before surgery so that wasn't a new expense.

    Hanging fat pockets

Massages to break the fat pocket up, deep tissue ones, they are going to hurt you might bruise. Then walking or running. The only thing you can do is lose more weight, but massages to break it up will help a lot.

    Change of plans

I don't think I would get the DS at that weight, you will end up like skelator. The DS is the most extreme WLS and it provides the most WLS. It is great for people that are super massively obese, but I think your Dr is right the sleeve would be enough for you.

    PCP anti wls

Just switch Doctors. If you are serious about surgery, might as well do it now, because his opinion isn't going to change and you are going to get crap from him for now on. Find a new dr, and make them order your records.
  13. Exercise has tons of benefits but for the most part I feel it is counter productive to weight loss and a lot of studies back that up. I exercised for years and never made any progress, but seriously changing how I eat and the hormonal benefit of WLS, weight lost. When I work out at strenuous levels, my hunger skyrockets, like a ravenous wolf. I found it impossible to control my calories working out heavily, I would be so hungry I would over eat all the time. Anyway I found this interesting and thought I would share.

    Ulcers before surgery?

The sleeve is a treatment for ulcers so depending where they are it might not matter or they might suggest bypass.

    Celiac "Come On"

Your Dr said the sleeve makes celiac worse? I read one study where they treated obese people with celiac with the sleeve to help them. The sleeve post-op diet is gluten free really, so that should help your condition. Did they explain why the sleeve makes it worse?

How to Shop in Prep for Procedure

Buy and stock up on very little. Purchase as you go because you might get bored, your tastes might change, and you will definately have moods. I had extra protein for months and I ended up throwing it away.

    Does anyone know...

@@kelliev2015 Mainly I think the reason are BS. They are one size fits all crap recommendations based on Gastric Bypass patients. I found that I wasn't take my Vitamins as regular as I did pre-op because I hate fake sweets and nothing is worst than nasty fake sweet vitamins. So I stopped take the chewables and went back to my normal vitamins which were super high quality. Just ask your Dr about it and see if you can get a real answer and not a canned one.

    "Self image"

I think people tell you that you won't look right small because you being a certain size is their comfort zone. Also a lot of people are comfortable being fat and they don't want someone else small. As I am losing and getting down comfortably in regular sizes 14, moving to 12, I hear so many things from people I realize they are being completely ridiculous. One of my friends claims she can never get into regular size pants because of her butt, but umm you can have a big butt and be small, so that doesn't even make sense. She trailed off after she said it, so I think even she realized she was being silly. I had turned into an apple leaning to pearish. Now that I have lost weight, I am a very serious hourglass. I went from a 50DD to a 38F/G. Something like 44/45-32-44/45 My waist is very defined. Yeah I have loose skin/flab on my stomach and inner thighs. My outer thighs have toned up nicely, with the cellulite improving and everything. The inner thighs are just thin loose skin. Still with clothes, etc its not a big deal. I have long thighs and as long the inseam is 5 inches, I can wear shorts fine. I have high cheek bones and I had big cheeks, I would have problems with sunglasses because they always hit my cheeks, not anymore. I never had a hugely fat face. I didn't have a fat neck or a big double chin. My face is just overall smaller. I remember someone telling me that if I lost weight I would have a big head and little body or something stupid like that. That isn't the case at all. I am very proportional. I am proportional to the point that lately I have really had to examine what I thought about myself before. I thought I was meant to be large, but now as I am losing and in regular sizes. This looks and feels comfortable. I was this size in HS/College. It isn't completely foreign to me, but I didn't have an hourglass shape before. I never wanted to be smaller than what I am now, but now that I am here. I can easily see that I could get down to a size 10 or 8 and be perfect comfortable and still very shapely. So I am not going to stop until my body stops. I'm not afraid of getting too small because I just don't think it is possible to get too small. Don't let other people project their issues onto you. "They don't want you to win".

    Use of PPIs

I took mine for about 6 months. No issues going off.

    Any good comebacks?

Don't tell people you are having surgery and you won't have to come up with comebacks. If people are saying this to you, they don't really care about you. Just cut them loose.
  21. OutsideMatchInside

    Worried.

I had issues with eggs, but soft baked fish was easy to digest and was great. You kind of have to progress, or you won't get better, you have to start eating eventually. When I started eating soft foods. I took one bite, put my fork down and waited 90 seconds, then took another bite. Give your self time between bites and measure out a small portion. I started with the suggested 2 ounces and worked my way up.

I'm not sure if I'm im in a stall.

Losing weight is not a stall. The more weight you lose in total, the slower your daily (I really don't suggest weighing every day unless you can detach from it), weekly and mothly loses are going to be. That is natural.

    Cycles (LADIES)

@@reducer623 Just be prepared, mine went all over the map and now they are finally working back to getting normal. I have a lot more weight to lose than you and I was much heavier to start and I had been that heavy for a very long time, so hopefully you normalize before I do.
  24. OutsideMatchInside

    Just here to gripe

Just stop weighing yourself. At this point healing should be your focus, not losing. I think embrace the stall is a crock, you don't have to embrace it, but you should learn how stalls help you in weight loss long term, it makes life easier.
