    BCBS requirements

It varies by state, plan and BMI. BCBS is not one company, there are several BCBS in the country and they are all have different rules and operate differently.

    2days post op Zero energy

Walk enough to avoid blood clots and nap. You just had major surgery. Rest.
  3. @@leliwhoaoh Just eat Protein early those first few days. Then switch to liquids. The point is to shrink your liver to make is safe for surgery, you can do that with just no carbs.
  4. @@northcountyr1 what OP means is some states consider bariatric surgery and essential service, so insurance plans on the exchange are required to provide coverage. There is a sticky on it in the insurance forum.
  5. A lot of plans don't cover DS. You would be better off just going to Mexico, but I'm not sure I would have the DS in Mexico because it is a complicated surgery. Not because the surgeons aren't good but it requires a lot of follow up care and not many people get the DS and it would be hard to find care in the US. Why not the sleeve? Also you have to consider if you are going to buy a plan on the Healthcare exchange, the plans change every year. So whatever plan you get you need to have surgery in that plan year.
  6. I posted this in the ladies area because mens sizes are more standard and they don't have the issues we have. When I was a size 28, I just wanted to be an 18. That was goal for years to just be an 18 like in college and I would be happy. Pre-op last year I decided I wanted to be a 12 because well, Gucci. As I have been losing I have hitting lower sizes faster than I thought with my weight being higher than I thought, I have to re-evaluate what size I think I will be comfortable at. I have resolved all my health issues already so whatever weight I lose now is just a bonus. I currently wear anything from a 14, sometimes a 12, and I can wear a juniors 13. The last time I was this size was in HS, but I weighed 40 pounds less. I'm pretty sure when I actually lose the 40-50 pounds I want to lose over the next year, I will end up a 10, a European size 10. Maybe even smaller after plastics. I know a lot of this has to do with the level of muscle mass I have, which I fight very hard to keep, by working really hard to keep my Protein up. That was just the back story to my real reason for posting. I think women get too caught up in sizes and what sizes mean to us. I spend 3-6 hours a week trying on clothes at least two times a month. I have to try on every single thing I buy, and wear it within 2-3 weeks because my body is changing so much and everything is shifting. Clothing sizes vary so wildly by cut, material, and manufacturer, that the numbers are really meaningless. Even measuring yourself and going by your exact measurements is useless. Some stores have vanity sizing but a lot of clothes come from asia now and are cut much smaller. Also juniors sizing is very pervasive without it always being crystal clear that it is juniors sizing. What was/is your goal size? Have you adjusted that goal? Are you smaller in the end than what you thought you would be? Do you wear a range of sizes even at a stable weight?

What will my new size be?

I wouldn't buy anything. There are always sales and always clearance. You might lose so fast you skip sizes. You might have a completely different shape. You are more likely to end up with clothes you can never wear than deals. Just shop as you go.

Yeah, I felt the same. I wanted to be normal and I felt the bypass would leave me abnormal forever.

The information is good, but they should have picked better images. They picked the most hideous, sloppy looking workout clothes they could find. I almost didn't read the article, because of the images. Thanks for sharing.

    Why sleeve?

@@toby585 Long term results are the same, with less risks and drama. Not having my intestines touched and not having a foreign object like band. Also people have had gastric sleeve type surgeries for about 100 years for other issues besides weight loss. Safest with the least issues, IMO.

    Question from a Non-cook

Buy yourself a rotisserie chicken. LOL One will last you days. Then eat whatever veggie sides he makes. Baking fish requires pretty much no skill, season fillet, add a touch of butter or ghee, cook covered at 400 for 20 minutes or less. Eating what you ate before surgery in small amounts while you are trying to lose, is fail. You really need to take the time to relearn to eat the right way. Eating normally, in small amounts, doesn't retrain your mind. The biggest part of surgery is not the physical part, it is the mental reset.

    Vegas, regrets and a NSV

@@MarieLouise My Dr told me crab can be tough and it can. What you can eat really depends on the moisture content. Early on, you want your food to be as moist as possible. Most people won't lose weight on 600 calories. I didn't really start losing weight until 6 weeks when I could eat 800-900 calories. 600 calories a day for a lot of people is going to be starvation level and their body is going to reject it.

From fat and firm to fit and floppy.

surprisingly easy? I have a couple from another brand that have the open crotch, those make it easier. Other than that, they come off fast. I don't really wear the full body ones like this too often, I can usually get away with just something high waist , they don't roll if they are the right size and have a firm top band. I have one like this and it has an inner silicon band that firms hold it in place at the top. http://www.onehanesplace.com/shop/onehanesplace/shapewear/control-level/firm/flexees-hi-waist-boyshort-m2107 When I do wear these they are usually with a dress and once I have on a full face of makeup, I'm not eating or drinking really. Which is one thing I love about surgery. I can spend a whole evening just being pretty and not eating. Vanity is...

I need help keeping this secret!

@@laceemouse It has been shockingly easy to keep a secret. I'm actually surprised. I have a lot of friends and know a lot of people but luckily most people think diet and exercise work, so they don't really think my weight loss is magical. My close friends all know but they all live out of state, and they don't care beyond being happy for me. I'm a year out, 4 people know and they live in 4 different states and don't know each other. If you are open about changing your lifestyle. "I'm low carbing/ eating keto" "I'm trying to be more active" People just think that is working, because you know biggest loser. Everyone thinks all you have to do is be serious and work hard. Also, think about WLS are a serious medical issue. No other surgery that people need, this isn't really an elective surgery for those of us who have been obese for a long time, gets debated like this. No one tells someone to skip their heart surgery. You just have to decide you want to keep it a secret and know what that means. Keeping it a secret means you tell no one, beyond your husband. NO ONE. Anyone you tell can tell someone else and they can tell someone else. Secret means secret. I'm a year out, 4 people know and they live in 4 different states and don't know each other.

    Stomach stretching

@@ehedary You are supposed to be able to eat more as time goes on, that is called healing. The restriction you have at the very beginning is not your real restriction. When I was 6 weeks out I could eat 5 ounces of baked fish because it basically turns to mush in your mouth, but I could only eat 2 ounces of chicken breast. Saying you can eat 4-5 ounces doesn't mean much without saying 4-5 ounces of what. liquids? Dense Protein? I can eat 3 cups of salad greens, but I can only eat 4 ounces of steak. How much you can eat depends on what you are eating.

    Yogurt

I don't like yogurt. I don't eat it. Just because people are eating yogurt doesn't mean you have to. Like you I went through a lot of yogurt options and came to the conclusion I don't just dislike yogurt, I HATE it. There are lots of other options for Protein. And I find the macros on yogurt, even the "good" yogurt to suck. Find something you like that fits your plan, it doesn't have to be yogurt.

@@higher Soma is a brand with their own stores usually at higher end malls and shopping centers. I have only purchased the stunning support line and they are well worth the $60 price tag (and at my size I can't get a bra for less than $50 anyway). I am a DDD or a G cup depending on the cut of the bra, so don't have a ton of bra options and I need something comfortable. Their bras are comfortable, well made, pretty, and they do a lot of work. They smooth the side and the back. They have a back smoothing line, I haven't tried it but I will next time I am in the store. @@higher https://www.victoriassecret.com/bras/just-in-body-by-victoria The bras in the body by victoria collection are nice. I have always thought VS bras were crap too, and a lot of them are because they are designed for people that don't NEED a bra, but are just wearing one. Soma has the best bras but the full coverage body by Victoria feels pretty nice. It doesn't have the lift that Soma has though. @@KristenLe I was getting so frustrated trying to swim, because I floated so much at the end. It is hard to swim when you float that much, you aren't getting the work out that you could. I have not been swimming since weight loss, but I should try it soon. The skin/flab is annoying, sometimes it hurts and even makes noises. Still it is totally worth it. I can stuff it all in clothes or shapewear and I look good. The number of people that will ever see me naked is pretty low, while the number of people that will see me fully clothed looking good is very high. I honestly think the loose skin argument is just the final cop-out of people that are afraid of surgery. It is just like people having their family and "friends" tell them that they won't look right small. It is just stuff to hold people back from being great.
