Airport eating
OutsideMatchInside replied to goplay94123's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What you have looks better than my last airport meal. I had to settle for some kind of burrito Breakfast bowl, where I told them just to give me the meat and the cheese. -
Are there any restaurants Bari friendly?
OutsideMatchInside replied to jackieu2012's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A

@@saphfyre14 are you taking anything for stomach acid? You could just be hungry every 2 hours because you have ramped up your metabolism with exercise or it could be stomach acid. At 2 months post op, you really shouldn't feel physically hungry. @@JamieLogical Is right about calories and nutrition. If you have a normal metabolism, and you are working out, you are creating a negative calorie deficit for yourself every day. You don't have any of your information filled out so I am not sure what your weight and height are. So for example if your RMR is 1500, and you are eating 1000 calories a day, you are already at a 500 calorie deficit. Then if you are burning another 400-500 calories, you are at a 1000 calorie a day deficit, your body is only getting 500 calories a day, which is starvation. I burn about 700-1000 calories a day on top of my RMR. I have to eat up to my RMR just so I keep losing. Which is really really hard. My choices are eat less and be less active or eat more and maintain my activity level.

Did anyone Joe a personal trainer to assist them
OutsideMatchInside replied to joei0005's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The good ones are expensive, because they have real training. Anyone can get certified by spending like $400, so most of the ones at gyms are complete crap and they make $10 an hour. You can lose on your own without a trainer. Depending on your weight it would be better to get your weight down first before really trying strenuous training. -

Question after reading book rec. by Dr.

Also I had to stop drinking at midnight and I didn't have surgery until almost 2 PM. So the likelihood of me urinating was slim to none. -

Every time I drink
OutsideMatchInside replied to mrivero's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@jurisjitsu It is okay if just broth works for you, some people are heat/cold sensitive. So just add some unflavored protein powder to the broth. That was my favorite post-op. Still you need to contact your Dr. -
Every time I drink

@@jurisjitsu That was almost a month ago. Have you told your Dr? You need nutrition to heal and to live. You need protein, it is not optional. -
Abdominal binders. Are they worth it?
OutsideMatchInside replied to 111's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
The support is worth it. I'm not sure it has to be a binder, anything that holds you in, like some light shapewear will work. The support helps you not strain your stomach muscles, it especially makes it easier to sleep and sit up -
Trouble getting protein and liquid requirement
OutsideMatchInside replied to gustavio's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you don't want to be weak you have to get some calories and Fluid in. If don't exercise your sleeve and eat/drink to keep it open, it will continue to be hard to eat. It only gets easier with use. If what you described is really how you are eating, you are going to end up in the emergency room for dehydration. If all these cold items are hard. Try warm liquids, like broth with Protein powder. Warm Water. If you can't get your intake up, I don't see how it will be safe for you to return to work. Finally when is your one week post-op visit? Make sure you tell your Dr how you are feeling and document your intake for the Dr to review. -

You can just wear spanx or something you don't have to wear a binder. -
Excess skin, it is pretty easy. Back pain from breasts, etc.

OutsideMatchInside replied to LxA's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@LxA you just had surgery this isn't a stall it is normal healing. As you get further out, you have to increase calories depending on your metabolism, and possibly make other food changes. You have lost 30 pounds in a month, your body is taking a break. -

Psych evaluation. Fail
OutsideMatchInside replied to sassy_ tiffany's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@sassy_ tiffany Surgery is very taxing mentally. VERY. If you are not in a good mental space prior to surgery, surgery and the post-op hormone dump, the inability to comfort with food. They will all push you over the edge, and you can sink into an abyss of depression and despair. Go to counseling, take the meds. Have your surgery. It is not the end of the world. Be happy you have a doctor that actually cares about you. Most of these WLS doctors right now care more about $$$$$$$ than patients. If your doctor did not care about you, they could rubber stamp your approval. You are lucky. -
not just that but it is kind of pointless to have them tighten you up and you lose more weight, so it is better to be at a stable weight.
-
Most doctors want you at a stable weight for a year, and a BMI under 32

What's on your plate?
OutsideMatchInside replied to missblonde20's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I normally use half and half but the grocery store around the corner was out so I got heavy whipping cream. I have been way under on calories for days so this was a day I was trying to hit my calorie goal. If I don't eat enough calories, I don't lose. This was over the weekend. -
Things you wish you had known before WLS
OutsideMatchInside replied to jodi2727's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Like @@LipstickLady I was sleeved on a Wed and driving on Friday. I stocked up because I live alone and I was thinking worse case scenerio, I will have all this stuff. What a waste of money. I still have some unjury sample powder packets on the shelf. I thew almost everything else out a few months ago. Stocking up pre-op was a complete waste of time and money. I don't have to go to the gym to lose weight. There are other ways to be active and lose weight that don't require a gym membership. I wouldn't feel like a weight loss patient for long. The first 3 months I definitely felt like a WLS patient, but after 6 months, not so much and at one year, not at all. I feel like a normal person with less capacity. I don't even really feel like I have less capacity but that I eat like a normal health conscious person, not a glutton. -
What Was Your Final "straw That Broke The Camels Back"

@@Butch Luce It is awesome you are making this choice for yourself and your family. I dearly loved my grandparents and the idea of more time with them is something I longed for. Your grandson will love the fit, active you. -
@@JJCool There are seamstresses in my family and I learned to sew and make clothing at an early age. Unless you are doing it just for fun or because you want something very specific, it isn't very cost effective. Altering clothes is an art form that takes time and practice. It is harder to correctly alter clothing than it is to make clothing from scratch. If you have some things that are expensive or absolute favoites, go for it, but I really don't think it is worth it. I'm 1/2 the person I used to be, if I tried to alter those clothes to this size it would be a disaster, a size or 2 is okay, but 7 or 8 sizes? No.
