How many calories do you get in a day?

At 3.5 months I was eating 900-1000 depending on the day. I eat around 1500 a day now.

    PreOp eating everything in sight?

Long term you can eat whatever for the most part. Not being able to eat things is pretty short term. That is kind of hard to conceptualize pre-op though. I ate a lot of stuff pre-op thinking I would never have it. It was untrue but it did help me get through about a month without food.
  4. @@Munecagirl85 100 pounds in 10 months is really good. Your body might need to catch up. How long have you been at 265? You said you keto, what do you eat? How many calories a day? If you have really adopted a healthy WOE like keto, the weight will keeping coming off. Why did your nutritionist say it is impossible to lose more? Find a different nutritionist, or don't use one at all.

    What to eat now?

I know you said you don't like fish but... If you bake fish in the oven it can be very moist with no fat. Bake it in an aluminum foil packet. Try a mild fish like swai, very little fish flavor. You can also cook ground beef, season it and add a pure tomato sauce. You have to read the labels and find one with no added sugar.

Bananas are NOT a low carb food

Double the fiber, for a whopping 3 grams of fiber? I didn't post this to start a debate. Bananas are not low carb, that is factual. Most people are trying to follow a low carb diet. One banana, is a day or a half days worth of carbs, with 14 grams of sugar. If people want to eat bananas that is fine, but not everyone that posts here is aware of nutritional information or alternatives which is why I posted this is in nutritional information.

When you can't visualize being slim.

@@Ebony Rose I never thought I was as big as I was so it was easy to visualize myself small, but there were still some bumps along the road. I think if you take pictures all the time as you are losing it is easier to visualize. I have a hard time accepting mentally that I wear normal sizes, so I take my measurements and compare them to tons of size charts online, and yep, I am definitely in normal sizes. I also wear fitted clothing, that makes it easier to see changes. I'm glad I didn't buy goal clothing, I am a couple sizes below what I thought I would be at this weight, and I have adjusted my personal goal to drop to a size 10. I would have never imagined myself that small before but I have a 32ish inch waist and I can easily see getting that down to a 30. The smaller you get the easier it is to imagine yourself smaller once you start losing. Just wear clothes that fit. So many people post that they can't see their weight loss and they are still wearing the same clothes that look like potato sacks.

    Low carb not working

@@elvis3734 I only had 800 calories or so for the first 6 weeks. That was because I just couldn't intake more. I have a normal functional metabolism. I upped my calories every few weeks. I eat 1300-1900 calories a day now depending on my mood and activity level, and I am still losing. People that keep their calories low for long periods train their bodies to function on those low calories and they are stuck eat that amount of calories for life. Then when they regain they have nothing to cut because they have ruined their metabolism. Once a body adjusts to a low amount of calories, eventually it will stop losing and start hanging onto every calorie/pound. You should eat about 200 calories below your resting metabolic rate to lose weight. There are lots of studies and scientific information that support this, so do your own research.

why is the gym so hard!

If you don't like the gym, don't go. Ride a bike Walk. Walking is the best starter exercise. Walk and try to get up to 5 miles a day in walking, you will lose weight. Play basketball Racketball Tennis There are all kinds of things you can do that doesn't involve being in a gym. If you don't like going to the gym or don't want to and it is stressing you out, it is counter productive. I think I went to the gym about 8 times in my first 6 months.

Hospital stay: what should I take with me?

They need access to you at all times. I don't know why someone would want to wear their own clothes and have them ruined. They have large gowns for bari patients and they gave me 2 at the hospital, one to wear as a gown and another to wear as a robe. If something goes wrong and they need to take you back into surgery they are going to cut your personal gown off of you.

@@greeneyedgrrl24 Give up the onions, the carbs aren't worth it. Use onion powder, spend money and get a good quality onion powder. BTW, I lost 30 ish pounds in my first 6-8 weeks, but total in a year I have lost in excess of 144. This is a long distance run not a sprint. Keep your Protein high, with your start weight you need it. I have at least 110 grams of protein a day, most of days it is 130. I would suggest that you start eating more real food. Baked fish, I have a recipe for bake swai in the recipe area. Eating simple clean real protein is better than shakes. However, if shakes are the only way you can get maintain your protein levels, keep drinking them. Just try to move to real food you lose weight faster with real food according to my Dr, and I agree.

Hospital stay: what should I take with me?

@@katie09/21/2016 Basically nothing. A pillow for the ride home, but I would leave that in the car and not take it in the hospital to get hospital germs. Lip Balm Cell Phone and charger Kindle (if you have one or a book) If you have a skin care regime you use, bring your facial cleanser/toner/moisturizer. That is it. They give you everything. They charge enough use the stuff they supply I was in my clothes all of an hour before I had to take them off as soon as getting to the hospital, and I wore them home. I had to take a shower with antiseptic soap, and not wear any lotion or deodorant before surgery. I was about the hospital about 28 hours total.

    Low carb not working

That doesn't seem like enough calories to lose weight. Also like @@Rebecca66 said, you aren't really low carbing. The yogurt and the chili alone are blowing all your carbs for the day. Also, make sure you are weighing all your food and getting all the proper portions, if you don't weigh your food and get the portions right it is very easy to over or under eat.

How much should I be able to eat

If that is your allowed portion, and that is what you ate, then why are you asking advice from random strangers? Your plan has outlined what you are allowed to eat and you are following it. I added a lot positive to the post, weighing and measuring your food is the key. If you are weighing and measuring your food and eating your proper allowed portion from your plan, how is there a question? 1/4 cup of food is a normal portion for most patients. I'm just not saying what you want to hear? You are being really nasty to people over a banana. Good luck.

Recommended grams of carbs and sugars?

@@Cassie111 I also have a book, with all kinds of nutritional information and outlines, but besides limits on the amount of sugar in Protein shakes that is allowed, there are no carb recommendations. I am below 25 net carbs most days, and always below 50. You have to find a way of eating that works for you. I eat low carb leaning towards keto. I eat this way because I enjoy it and it is sustainable for a lifetime for me.

How much should I be able to eat

@@dvons How much you should eat isn't some great mystery. Serving sizes aren't a mystery. How much you can eat and how much you should eat are two different things and it seems to be something that a lot of people don't understand by the constant barrage of posts we see about it.

How much should I be able to eat

When people say I could eat X in X amount, should I be able to? The response is WHY? You should be weighing or measuring your proper portion and only eating that. I'm pretty sure I could eat quite a bit right now, maybe a 6 ounce steak if I wanted, but a proper portion is 4 ounces. I weigh my 4 ounces and eat that. I don't know if I can eat too much because I don't create situations where I can over eat. Weighing and measuring your food and only eating the proper portion is a major key.

Any coffee drinkers in the house?

coffee is not a diuretic. This has been disproved by numerous studies. I have never been dehydrated and I have been drinking coffee since 6 weeks. I drink coffee everyday, I'm sipping on some right now. I enjoy it the same as before, maybe more because it is my only "vice" if coffee can even be considered a vice. I was never consuming coffee with sugar before. Never used fake creamers. My coffee is pretty clean. I don't add Protein to it because well, I'm never short on protein and heat with most protein doesn't mix. When I drink iced coffee, I will add protein every once in a while. I do suggest if you are going to drink coffee, especially in the first 6 months, opt for something low acid, like a cold brew or a coffee that specifically says low acid. The acid in coffee is more of a concern than the caffeine or any imagined diuretic effects.
