Casper? Jewels? How are you two doing?
-
Follow up to this thread, I did discuss with my sleep doctor and he agreed that I can get rid of the cpap! What a huge NSV!!
-
My first challenge. Starting weight 191. Goal 170.
-
I am 7 weeks out and for the last several weeks I have been noticing this happening to me. I know i am not dehydrated, but i had a sleep screener at home and it was much improved but not enough to not wear the mask. Mine is also self adjustable and set on a very low pressure anyway, wondering maybe I really do not need it, time to call my doctor!
-
One month out and I'm in Onderland today!! Down 41 pounds since preop diet, 27 pounds since surgery day. I am feeling good. Many NSV's also. I was real skeptical that anything would ever work for me but that is changing. I am feeling good enough to exercise and am really making progress with that also. Thanks to all on this site for ideas, information, encouragement and support.

Thanks all for the encouragement, that's why I love this site!

how long to take off work? RN here
jennolsen replied to TXmomcat's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am also an RN but do not work 12 hour shifts and I work in an outpatient setting. I took 2 weeks, then returned for 1/2 days for 1 week. I would recommend 3 weeks minimum. For your work setting probably 4-6 weeks. Just because I know I have a hard time getting in fluids/food and in the setting you describe it will be more difficult. -
What did your FEET do?

Plantar fascitis has been inactive since my surgery. I am down from 10 to 9.5 and that's at 4 weeks out! Hoping for at least another 1/2 size. -
A body area that stops you dropping a size
jennolsen replied to Beachsprite's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mstwist Our stats are almost identical for height and weight. I am 4 weeks out. I also have the same difficult body area. Pants are my nemesis! I could be 2, maybe 3 sizes smaller if it weren't for my lowtmy area. I have had 2 C-sections also so that exagerates this area. Leggings are about the only thing I can wear and then even some are baggy in the butt! I don't really have any advice just yet, I am going to take a yoga class this weekend with my support group and also some classes at my local YMCA for toning later this month. I'll let you know if I have success with anything. Good to hear someone having the same struggles. Best of luck! -
Hi Casper, I am doing well. I am down 40# since my preop diet and 26.4 since surgery. Less than 1/2 of a pound and I am in Onderland! I am sorry to hear you have slowed. I am slowing down from the first few weeks but I did not stall. I am doing well with food, I am able to take in all forms of Protein with no problem as long as they are moist, I do not need to puree. That feels great! I have been walking and I feel great. I am thinking about trying some other things for exercise, I will be released this week for more activity. How about you? Jewels, I am wondering about you too, are you doing better?

Creamed out

During full liquids I was only allowed yogurt and protein shakes. -
Jewels I'm so sorry to hear all the problems you've been having. It's hard enough with no problems let alone what you are going through. I think it would be unusual if you didn't have regrets with what you are going through. I hope it passes soon.

Casper I'm still down and out from that episode Wednesday. All day yesterday I felt the effects of the dehydration and just could not get caught up. I'm staying home from work today. I need to get caught up on my fluids today or I'm gonna be in trouble! It is a little discouraging because I have not felt bad until this. I think I'm going to do a day or too of fluids and protein shakes because food is not going down either. Thanks for listening and being supportive. Jewels? How are you doing?

Casper, Glad to hear things are going well. I am near you in weight loss, I am down 20# since surgery. My surgeon and NUT have not stressed Protein at all. I am only allowed protein foods and we have certainly talked about the help in healing and aid in weight loss, but not about a daily goal. I have a guidebook they gave me and it says 60-80 is their preferred al but it really has not been stressed at visits. There is no way I could get it in with the amount of food I am allowed. I am a little concerned but at 2.5 weeks out the damage is done. I am sure in a few months I will be bald! I am trying to get used to the a of a pixie cut now! I had a set back yesterday. I tried to take my allergy medication which is the largest pill I have to take. It got stuck. I did some of what I am guessing is frothing/sliming, that only lasted about 10 minuted and I vomitted several times. The pill never came up and I had awful pain all moring. I never had my Breakfast and stopped fluids for a while due to the pain. I left work early and slept all day. No lunch either. I had some cottage cheese for dinner and it was a little painful. Only about 32 oz of Fluid for the day, 1/2 of my reccomended daily goal. I certainly felt it this morning. i was nauseated, actually wretching, pain in my stomach and really dizzy. I am feeling better after a Protein shake and some fluids. But the lesson learnind is dehydration is no joke. The sleeve is highly tempermental. It may really take some time to figure this out. But in the meantime I am going to enjoy the side effect of weight loss and no hunger!

Casper, Im doing good. Im doing soft foods, only for a few days so far. I had some trouble yesterday with pain during eating so I am going to back off today and do Protein shakes and maybe some yogurt and try again tomorrow. Overall pretty good though. I am able to exercise-just walking- 45-60 minutes at a time and feel good with that. I am back to work half days this week and that is also going well. I do take a nap in the afternoon though. Next week I am back to full time and actually have to travel to a conference so I will need to do some planning this weekend for the food portion. What about you?

Lots of folks using fair life milk. I considered it for the protein content but seem to recall a lot of carbs. Anyone concerned about that?

Jewels How was you visit?

I also had horible breath this morning that continued after I brushed my teeth. As much as I am not digging the symptoms, I welcome ketosis means I am getting rid of fat!! YAY! I did get to eat a little, cottage cheese and rfried Beans were my first trys yesterday. Went wek\ll, I did have some strange feelings in my chest, I am going to try and take less today and see how that goes. Victories for the day, I fit into my scrub tops today-I am a nurse and have been wearing acrub pants and plain tshirts because they are stretchy and scrub tops are not. Who knew l could get excited about a uniform? I also now weigh 2 pounds less than my husband! Which is good for several reasons, I have always felt bad when he can lose weight and I can't, I also always felt I should weight less than him and he is half a foot taller than me so of course I should weigh less! I am on my way to my first goal of being in Onderland by my one month post op date. 8 pounds to go!
-
Ketosis is my guess. Bad breath, body odor and strong urine for a few weeks due to so much Protein. It's a good thing, means your body is burning fat! On the acid note, I have been having acid reflux for the last 3 days, and I too am taking meds for it. I even doubled it today since this was my preop dose. Hoping this is temporary. Need to call my doc tomorrow.

Anyone have success adding unflavored protein powder to hot or cold drinks or foods? My diet is very limited and I am concerned about getting in protein in for hair loss purposes. I bought isopure unflavored. Tips? Recipes? I am taking only clear fluids and protein shakes and yogurt at this point.

Casper what great words of encouragement! I look forward to hearing from you and Jewels every time I log in. It really is great to hear others are having struggles even if they are different than my own. Gives me hope that I can do this.

Congrats on your progress Jewels! I know with PCOS it may be even more difficult so your numbers sound great! I can't stay off off the scale either. I am down 30# from the start and haven't seen numbers like this on the scale in so long, it's addictive. I'm scared to make goals since I don't know what to expect but I think my first will be 200# or under by 1 month post op. I have 10# to go. Guess it will be easy if I can't get past clear liquids! Hopefully I'll make progress on the intake front this weekend. So glad to hear you are feeling better. How scary.

I haven't jewels. That may be the way to start tomorrow.
