Suggest Unflavored Protein Powder Source
Lauriebu replied to Debbie623's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi! I'm using Isopure Unflavored Protein Isolate by Natures Best. 26g of Protein per scoop. It's tasteless and adds no real texture. I'm really happy with it. For my protein drink, I use Champion Nutrition Ultramet Original. 42g of protein per package. I order through Amazon or through other source ( check prices). I am using 1/2 package at a time right now, plus a scoop of Isopure. I'm getting 46 grams of protein in my shake ( 14 oz of water). I add my liquid calcium, Vit D too. Oh...some ice too. Wishing you much success! -

The isoprene protein powder is the bomb! Tasteless and no bulky texture! 26g of protein in a scoop! I use champion Nutrition Ultramet as my daily protein drink, 42g of p /pouch, (I use 1/2 a serving now as I'm 3 weeks out). I add a scoop of isopure and get a huge boost . I tried the Isopure drink pre surgery and agree---yuck! Good luck everyone!!

How many calories are you getting?
Lauriebu replied to Sara51692's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks for this post. I am 10 days post surgery, I am hitting 500-600 calories, 60-65 G Protein and at least 64 oz Fluid. I feel great, am walking at least a mile each day. I swear it's like breastfeeding- constantly drinking! My issue is I'm NOT losing - 5 measly lbs! I know "everyone is different" but i stopped weighing myself until I had to go in yesterday because one of my incisions is infected. So they did my 2week check early, including weigh in. Seriously depressing! I feel great- I have had no gas, nausea, nada. Energy level great, not hungry. Anyone else experience this? When will I see it start to shed? -

I had a drain for my 6/15 surgery. They removed the morning of discharge 6/17. I had read it could hurt, but I agreed to let a Med student do it ( my niece is in PA school, so I want to provide great opportunities for these kids). Plus, I wasn't his first ( 2nd I think). Didn't feel a thing! Just have to keep a band-aid over the incision. All good! They explained the drain gave them good info on what was going on inside-they checked the color of fluid daily.

Weight gain during first week?
Lauriebu replied to margied804's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Margie- I too had surgery on 6-15. I have not lost a lb- was the same as when I went in. Was very discouraged because I have been walking since the morning after my surgery- 3 miles around the hospital! 2 miles again before checkout on the 3rd day and 2 miles at home each day since ( it's hot out!) When I read of these 10-14 lb weight losses I am ready to scream. However- I have felt great, no gas, no pain, all good. I'm getting my protein, fluids and vitamins in. So while patience is not my virtue, I will stop weighing and work the plan. This surgery is a tool in a much bigger plan ( I need to print this out for my mirror...????). I wish you continued success in following the diet and please let me know how you're progressing. As many have said - each of our journeys will be different. Good luck/feel good everyone! -
Thanks! My friend had your same surgeon- she loved him! I know logically that makes sense, It's just that I was not worried about the surgery at all, only that I would not lose weight! Weird, but that's been my fear.... I just need to follow the plan and let it work. Thanks for your message!

Hello fellow 6/15'ers and those going/gone soon after! Hope you are continuing to feel better each day. I feel really good- did from the beginning. My question- what do we know about when we will start to see weight loss. I weighed myself today, almost started crying- nothing. I checked in with a friend who is 18 months out, 100 Lbs down. She said weigh weekly, but measure. Other insight, thoughts? What have you heard? I'm walking 3x day, drinking fluids, following the plan. A little bummed.

Good morning! Congrats fellow 6/15 sleepers! Day 2 and I feel so good! My surgery was yesterday at about 11. I started walking in the evening, then was awake at 3 and walked 10 laps (3/4 of a mile) and another 14 laps at 6:30 (a full mile!). I kept reading and hearing that walking would help with the gas, so I was determined to minimize it- So far so good! I just started on some food- they brought me jello, tea and broth. Ok so far...taking it slow. Thank you to all who post on here...I've picked up so much sound advice, encouragement and great info. It is so appreciated! Here's to a new healthy, fit body!
