I'm very open and honest w my 4 and 7 yr old boys. I just told them Saturday "you know how mommy is really big? Well that's not very healthy, and I need to have a surgery to help me be a healthier person". They were like "ok, can I play mine craft?"

Your surgeon will probably work with a lymphedema specialist or OT that will help make a plan pre and post op. I know performing surgery on a limb that has lymphedema can increase the risks, definitely discuss w your team.
