  1. I am 8 months out from my sleeve surgery and have had two really bad gallbladder attacks (at least from what I've read they are textbook gall bladder attacks). I know this is common with large weight loss. I lost 80 pounds and made goal in January. The first one scared me but the second one was worse. Luckily by the time I realized that I needed to get to a hospital, the pain subsided. I did so well with my WLS, hardly had any pain at all, but I'm not looking forward to this. I am going to Doctor this week. Anyone else have to go through this? Is the surgery/healing process similar to the sleeve surgery?

  3. Ditto - except for $220.00 because the psychologies didn't take insurance and his fee was lower than my deductible so I didn't even submit it.
  4. Your story is touching. I also have three grown sons and my heart breaks for him, for you and your family. Please be sure to take care of yourself. Prayers for you all.

    Timeline

I was quick - only 9 weeks. I worked my butt off to get all my appointments in. Luckily I had an understanding boss and I scheduled most of my appointments either first thing in the morning or as late in the afternoon to minimize my time off. I did need a couple of days off? I took off for my colonoscopy and endoscope done at same time as I was overdue for the colonoscopy. I was very focused and persistent about getting everything done.
  7. I was concerned how I would be able to handle my first vacation after being sleeved. Just got back yesterday and I have to say it was a success. We do enjoy eating out on vacation and we still did eat out a lot, but I was very careful with my choices. I ate chicken but when I got bored with that, I had spare ribs (could only eat two); smoked turkey; steak; and grilled shrimp - all in very small portions. I ordered the smallest portions I could (sometimes ordering off the appetizer menu). I listened to my stomach and stopped as soon as I felt that restriction. I did walk at least four miles everyday on the beach. We were also with my sister and her husband and she had a harder time with what I was eating. She kept saying she felt bad for me because I couldn't eat much, but I kept telling her don't feel bad for me because I don't feel bad and I do feel good about myself. The truth is I did miss eating all the usual vacation type foods a bit - ice cream, alcohol, chocolate, Italian food etc. but I am down 40 pounds and as they say - nothing tastes as good as being thin feels. But I only missed the foods for the moment, once that passed, I felt good about my choices. It also felt good that I was able to wear clothes on my vacation that I hadn't fit into in years. I still felt self-conscious in a bathing suit, but that is my insecurity. I hope that once I am down to my goal weight (40 pounds to go) I will be able to occasionally enjoy some treats. For now I feel good, I am thrilled with my progress and am looking forward to many more vacations with my newer slimmer body! Thanks for all your support!

    wave of pressure..?

Did you also have a hiatal hernia repair. For the first two weeks post op I had what I described as spasms and my doc told me it was from the hernia repair. It went away and I feel great.

    June 2015 sleevers

Hi all - I was sleeved on June 12 and started at 213 and I'm 5'1". I lost 10 pounds on the one week pre op liquid died and 19 pounds since then for a total of 29 pounds. I feel good and my clothes are loose but I found that I haven't gone down a size yet. Im trying to exercise more but sprained my ankle so having a hard time with that. My hardest challenge is that I am such a picky eater. I do not like fish of any kind or nuts or cheese. So my choices for protein are limited. But all in all I'm so happy with my decision to do this and proud of my progress.

    June Sleevers!

I am just over 3 weeks out and I met with my NUT last week. I had gone back to work last Monday and had bad stomach ache all day Monday and Tuesday. My NUT pointed out that maybe I was having too much dairy and that was the answer. I was drinking yogurt shakes and eating yogurt for snack and lunch bc it was convenient for lunch at work and it had lots of protein. I had been drinking lots of protein shakes but with almond milk that doesn't have any lactose so that didn't bother me. Now I feel great. My NUT also told me to start eating regular foods. Yeah. I can actually chew food. I made chili and put it into small containers. I had a tiny bit of London broil yesterday. I cut into really small pieces and chewed it to death and it was fine. Today I had some chicken and the same thing. Real food with real taste! Yeah me!
  11. I was worried also. Every surgeon is different but mine had me on all liquid diet 7 days before scheduled surgery date. But I was so ready to begin the process and the week flew by that it didn't bother me. It's all worth it in the end. And I agree that this site up is invaluable in answering questions and for support! Good luck on your journey!
  12. My breath is the worst. I can't stand myself and my husband keeps saying "what smells like sh*t?" Lol!
  13. I'm only 2 weeks out and just started mushy foods. But today my husband and I met some friends at a lobster festival down the Jersey Shore. It was difficult to see everyone enjoying all that good food and not be able to eat. I just kept sipping my water. I know it will all be worth it. I came hope and ate my refried beans (for the first time). They were DELICIOUS,
