I am so fortunate to have my husband by my side. I was nervous at first about what his reaction would be. I don't know why. He has always supported me in anything I have wanted to do or try. He is attending all visits with me. He told me last night right before we went to bed that he would change his lifestyle to help me meet my goals. How could I ask for more? He has told me that he wishes I could see myself through his eyes and see what a beautiful person I was inside and out. I mean, come on, does it get any better than that? I wish everyone had someone in their life that supports me the way he does. Even the hair brain ideas I get at last minute about stuff that I look back on and wonder what I was thinking! ????

Yep, bout a $102 a pound... Whew!! And to think how excited I get when chicken breast is on sale for $3 a pound... Lol -

July 14 (or close )Sleeve Date Friends
Heatherrc1 replied to AvalonNeeCee's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
@nikkiblueeyes yes, I sure am. I am in Middle Tennessee and mine is $12k. I could probably have paid for this with the money I spent on yo-yo dieting and trying every new plan on the market. Grrrr! I'm thinking about per pound the cost and I sure don't want to screw this up! -

After months of consideration and finally coming to the conclusion that I can't do this "dieting" on my own any longer; I made the decision to take the next step and voice my desire for WSL with my family. To my surprise my husband was very supportive. I called my insurance only to find out that they don't cover it. I was stunned that my husband said I shouldn't let that deter me from this if it would make my life better. So, I have spent so much time reading and asking questions on forums and I found this place today. I'm anxious to get to the seminar and see what that is all about. Thank you all for sharing your stories, trials and tribulations! I appreciate your information. What can I expect from the seminar?

Seminar scheduled for June 8th.
Heatherrc1 replied to Heatherrc1's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I received a call today and turns out I do not have to attend the seminar because they said it was 90% insurance related and since I am self pay I will get the appt with the dr and he will go over his part with me one on one. Best part... I have a scheduled surgery date of July 23rd. My dietician and dr appt is scheduled for the same day and then I will see him again before surgery. I'm so excited! -

Frustrated, confused and scared

Just like someone trying to give advice on parenting and never had kids! People are so quick to give their opinions and without knowing the struggles or the situation. Ugh! Frustrating! Just keep reading all the positive effects that this is going to have on your new and improved life! I wish you the best of luck and most of all I wish you peace your decision. -

Thank you for that info! That is something that I had not even thought of. I will definitely be asking about the complications insurance. It is $14,400 here in Middle Tennessee. When I registered for the seminar the lady tied to get to schedule my surgery because she said they were already booked until August... I don't want to feel rushed and told her I would be glad to wait. I am also attending a seminar with another group... I want to meet both doctors and compare notes from them and see what my gut tells me to pick. Good luck with your surgery! It will be here before you know it. -

I'm so excited for you! That is just right around the corner!!! Eeekkk! That's a 3 month jump on becoming a healthier you! Thanks for the post! I am anxious to get my appointment set! -
Sounds like she is a busy body to start with. She needs more to do with her life than talk about yours. Bless her heart. Please do not let the judgement from her or others knock you off your game. I love this quote.." People gonna talk about you til the day you die. It doesn't matter what they call you it matters what you answer to." I would own that sh@$ like a boss! They wanted something to talk about.. I'd give it to them. Work your arse off and let them talk about your results! Good luck!

Newbie and I have my first surgeon visit
Heatherrc1 replied to stacy47's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Honesty is always the best policy. When someone loves you they want you to be happy. I was concerned about talking with my spouse, as well. When I started the discussion he was totally closed off to it. His response was "I just don't want it to cause you any health emblems in the future." I them asked him if he would go through the process with me and he said he would t have it any other way. We are attending the seminar to get started in a week. The hardest part was telling him that insurance didn't cover it. That made his eyes bug out a little. ???? he then asked me if I could be disciplined enough to spend that kind of money. Good luck!
