Two Weeks Post Op Weight Loss

15 lbs in 11 days is phenomenal when you stop and think about it. You're going to shed that early weight pretty quickly. Just keep up with your protein and water intake and it will continue to fall. Just some advice for heading into week 3, stay off the scale for at least 2 weeks. I unfortunately did not and when the inevitable stall hit me, it sort of bummed me out even though I knew it was coming. Your body cannot simply drop all that weight without slowing down at some point. Keep up the great work, stick to your diet instructions and you'll drop that weight in no-time!

    3 week stall

This looks awesome! Do you by chance have the amount of calories in a 3oz serving? If you have this posted on MyFitnessPal, that would be awesome so I can put this in my rotation for pureed. I'm so bored right now of the food I have been eating. I've got 1 more week of pureed and then I'm officially on to softs. I'm approaching the end of week three and I've only lost 3 lbs during this time. I don't expect to lose much more in week 4 but that's because I have to travel on business. I won't be able to put much time into exercising with all day client meetings and nightly outings. There are several reasons why the scale stops moving: 1. Your body needs to replenish it's glycogen storage. This process involves breaking down your fat and storing it as the quick energy your muscles burn when exercising. Glycogen needs water to make it soluable so you may retain some water weight because of this. This process could take a while depending on sleep schedule, water intake, etc. You may not be losing weight during this time, but inches should be shed. 2. Eating the amount of calories, 600 - 800, for a short period of time has the benefit of quick weight loss that is seen in the first 2 weeks. At some point, your body realizes that the small amount of calories you're feeding yourself isn't a temporary situation and your metabolism might slow down a little. That's why when you add some extra calories, as some have posted they have in the form of Protein, they saw the scale move. As someone said before "keep your body guessing" and change it up. Some tips that I have read from multiple sources: Do not drop below 600 calories. This may have the adverse effect and stall your weightless even more. Increase activity if possible. Getting 10K steps in a day is nice and it sure has it's ups, but it does not beat the fast paced walking that lasts for 30-45 minutes straight. Get your heart rate up and keep it at a steady beat. When you're walking fast, it should be hard for you to carry on a conversation if someone was walking beside you. We can make it through the stalls, and in some cases, even push past them sooner!
  3. I had my surgery on May 19th 2015, so I'm a little over 2 weeks post-op. At my 2 week appointment, I was down 34 lbs, now it's 37 lbs down. I'm approaching week 3 and I keep hearing about the 3 week stall. If it happens, oh well, at least I know it's only temporary. I'm going to keep on doing what I've been doing to drop the initial weight, pick up the exercise and push through the stall (if it even happens) like a champ. 93 lbs to go to hit my goal! I can't wait to fit in to some of my old clothes!

    Who Are You?

Hi Everyone, I'm a husband to my beautiful wife and father to my beautiful 18 month old daughter. They are the reason I went through the surgery. I want to make sure that I am here on earth as long as I can be to grow old with them, and being obese doesn't increase longevity. Time has gone by so fast these last 2 years, especially after my Mom passed in Jan 2014. You forget just how temporal life actually is and you have to make the most of it. I didn't go to college, but I have a great corporate job that pays the bills but monopolizes my time. I am in payroll administration and sometimes the schedule can be a bit much. I'm sure we could all say we wished we didn't work as much! I'm sort of a geek, to the fact that I still like to play video games and I'm 30 years old. I'm a Christian, saved by the loving mercy of Jesus Christ, who brought me out of the horrible life I had before as a drug addict. I'm living proof that you do not have to be an addict for the rest of your life. One trip down to the altar and I've never even had a second thought about the drugs I did before. I love this forum since I joined and will definitely keep coming back for the advice and the success stories! Thanks for letting me share!
  5. I wish I could have chicken/turkey, turkey sausage and bacon right now! I feel your pain with protein shakes. Although they are tastier than they have ever been, and they used to be pretty bad, I can't get over the chalky grit that sticks to the inside of your mouth for a long time after drinking them!! I'm still in full liquid phase, although I did make some great homemade cream of potato soup that was very delicious. It's helped me get through the last couple days and I'm not sure how I would have made it without it. Pudding is starting to annoy me, even after adding in protein powder in it to spice it up. Dr. appointment on Tuesday next week and hope he says move on to pureed food so I can get some different variety!
  6. Depending out how you spread that out over the day, it doesn't look too bad. Just make sure the eggs are egg whites to reduce the fat content. I agree that activity will drastically improve your results. Just a 30 minute walk does a world of difference!
  7. What about your activity level? How active were you before the sleeve? What is your calorie intake on average a day? The reason I ask these questions: If you're not active enough, that could be a reason why the stagnation occurred. If you were not active before the sleeve and are now becoming active, you could be trading off some muscle for fat. If your calorie intake is less than it should be, your body could be in starvation mode which causes you to slow down your weight loss.
  8. Hello, first time poster to this forum but wanted to provide some information related to the hunger feeling. From what I have researched, the hunger feeling may be caused by an abundance of acid in the stomach. This tricks the stomach to think that it has the empty feeling. Have you been faithful in taking your pepcid or whatever other anti-acid your doctor prescribed? I'm almost 2 weeks post-op (30 lbs down I might add) and can safely say that my hunger feelings are extremely lower in comparison to what they were pre-surgery. Hang in there, stick to the diet guidelines and it will get better!
